They followed the text with these, even though they padded it out a bit too much. RoP is the invention of Amazon and a few jobbing writers. Imagine turning Isildur into a dumb fricking trainee sailor, getting rid of Anarion adn replacing him with a girl and making Elendil the Captain of a ship instead of the prince he was..

Dude, half of this shit is completely made up nonsense. The other half stretched to Mordor and back.

Oh so you're false-flagging as a contrarian manbaby to make people think RoP(e) isn't actually so bad? Interesting tactic, don't think it'll work though.

I think he was just correctly stating that the Hobbit movies eat shit. I can't say about Rangz, I haven't watched it. Looks pretty fricking bad.

It's called growing up. The Star Wars prequels have been rightly re-evaluated and praised recently too. They were warmly received on release, then Redlettermedia and redditors gaslit a generation into believing they were bad.

        >nonsensical millennial contrarianism is "growing up"
No, the prequels are still garbage. Nobody got "gaslit" into anything you're just a zoom-zoom blinded by nostalgia. The fact that the Sequels and RoP are offensive & garbage does not change the fact that the Prequels and The Hobbit are inoffensive garbage.

They really didn't have much soul, BUT they also didn't have open hostility towards their main fanbase. RoP genuinely hates Tolkien fans, which makes it worse than the Hobbit trilogy which was inoffensive & greedy trash.

Not really, it had a few good moments sure but it was overall a soulless cash grab. Don't get me wrong, I vastly prefer the Hobbit trilogy to Rings of Power, but it was not good just because this new show is bad.

Nothing will ever come close to the LOTR trilogy. Show me one scene in either the Hobbit or Rings that gets even mildly close to vid related:

The fake sentimentality in that scene doesn't move me at all, so almost any scene with Martin Freeman in the first Hobbit is better. In fact, the entire LOTR trilogy is riddled with this type of nauseous cringe.

I enjoyed them. You know how i did it? I thought it was a random fantasy popcorn flick. I enjoyed the wacky, extended cgi battles because they were silly and extremely acrobatic. I only hated when they actually tried to follow the hobbit plot, because that reminded me that this was indeed the hobbit

They're childhood classics to me, especially since they came out around the same time little kid me was introduced to the LOTR Trilogy.

The Hobbit movies become brilliant with a suitably ruthless fanedit. The problem is that most fanedits aren't nearly ruthless enough. I found a two-hour single-movie edit that was nearly perfect but unfortunately lost it to a hard drive failure.

People are having serious nostalgia goggles.
Lotr was magical and an amazing movie, but did have its stupid scenes. The ghost battle for instance.

Hobbit wasn't amazing, but it was a great fun story, with fun characters, and for someone that didn't read any Tolkien books it's definitely above average in quality.

      >definitely above average in quality

No it fricking wasn't. Production was plagued with incompetence and setbacks. It turned out shit because the way in which it was made was absolutely shit.

Not sure what youre on mate.
In terms of quality of the film without seeing it as a Tolkien movie it's definitely better than average.

Ah yes using GoPro footage is a good indicator of film quality.

Ah yes, cgi ghosts is a good way to end an epic battle.

Both trilogy's have shit scenes, and while the Hobbit is not as good as lotr it's definitely not a bad trilogy is all I'm saying.
