Its this idea that if I'm not invested in the MCU, I'm not going to understand half the shit going on. Now it feels like I have 2 years of marvel movies to watch to catch up and a bunch of Disney+ crap.

        Anonymous

This, 100%. The fact that half of the plots don't make an ounce of sense without having to watch the previous movies AND TV shows is fricking ridiculous. It amazes me that the MCU had the opportunity to clean up their properties and streamline their stories for better clarity of vision, but instead they fell victim to the exact same fricking problem that's killing their comics.

True. I missed out on Black Widow but watched HawkEye and with the face reveal of that woman who was Natascha's sister, I was totally flabbergasted as they clearly paused and looked all shocked at it, and I was just pic related:

          >It amazes me that the MCU had the opportunity to clean up their properties and streamline their stories for better clarity of vision
I mean it is amazing the MCU even worked in the first place. Literally every other attempted at big cinematic universes failed. Sony wanted a Ghostbusters universe and an Amazing Spider-Man Universe. Universal tried to do the Dark Universe thing twice. And WB/DC has been failing.

The MCU has course corrected, changed tactics, changes actors all the time. It was never fully cohesive or planned out but managed to generally have a formula to keep coming people. To play devils advocate, phase 4 had a bunch of issues:
          >COVID changes.
          >Disney+ pressure.
          >Palate cleanser post Endgame.
          >Giving directors some creative vision.
          >Bunch of origin stories.
I fully expect them to course correct and don't think this doom and gloom will stay around. Half the issue is quantity, especially with the series, adds nothing to the overall point. It just ends up feeling like filler.

But you throw out Spider-Man or some fan favourite shit and I am sure people will come back.

          >fell victim to the exact same fricking problem that's killing their comics.
Feige and Perlmutter fighting is what balanced out the MCU somewhat because they were opposites in many ways. Without Perlmutter, Feige has gone full-on diversity with no real Perlmutter business sense balance. Feige also can't seem to deal with the higher-up pressures especially when it comes to Disney+ and needed that buffer more.

Yes, it's clearly not the fault of the film creators. Heap all blame on one detractor.

Well let's look at what we're working with.
    >Black Widow: Pointless, should've come out before the character fricking died, released during the pandemic
    >Shang-Chi: Fine, but released during a pandemic
    >Eternals: Fricking horrible and boring, so no wonder nobody saw it
    >Spider-Man: Great movie, did great at the box office.
    >Dr Strange 2: Good movie, did great at the box office
    >Thor 4: Okay movie, meanders a lot at the beginning and middle, doing fine at the box office but not done with its theatrical run
Why are people acting like these movies are bombing?

Strange 2 was ruined by Waldron's shit writing and one of the dumbest villain ever seen in a Marvel movie. It all revolves around the stupid kids instead of Chthon, who unlike the fake kids is actually relevant to Strange.

Spider-Man NWH was always gonna do well.

you had the MCU fans, the Raimi/Tobey fans, the Webb/Garfield fans and hell even Daredevil fans getting a nod too. it had the hype and discussion and it delivered for what audiences wanted, the fact they never confirmed Tobey or Andrew even though we knew they were in it fueled the speculation. it came out just before christmas and when the masses were finally comfortable to back into theatres.

and i think if they had came out a bit later they might've done better. well maybe not Black Widow, i think doing her own solo film after killing her in endgame was moronic.

Had NWH released at Christmas the previous year, it would have made half. That would have still been great, but half.
Fortunately it opened at the beginning of NEXT year, when the theaters were fully open again.

Why did they choose to pull the gay agenda and at the same time all femininity will be destroyed, which parent will want to take their kids to see naked men, women wearing burkas and two men kissing?

That's like calling George Lucas the American Graffiti director. Also, if Scorsese's remarks are all it takes to sink the entire Marvel corporate empire, then it deserves to sink. Frick play it safe films with poor art direction and nonstop Whedon quips.
