With Cartman and Kyle its a game. They both have their flaws and they play against each other with them. Kyle hates Cartman's stupidity, and can't help but call it out. If Cartman says for Kyle to sign a contract, refusal to do so would mean that Kyle has reasonable doubt that Cartman could be right and he is wrong, which Cartman would then latch on to and torment Kyle with. Kyle's pride makes him unable to do this, so he signs the absurd contract and play's Cartman's game. It's a lose lose situation for Kyle unless either 1: Cartman is bullshitting and there is no leprechaun, or 2: Kyle stops caring about Cartman being stupid which he never will because he's Kyle.
Huh this is where the serialization started. I'm noticing quite a few common things with S18+ episodes. The kids' A plot isn't as equally important as the society/political B plot... and there is no in between funny C plot. The political plot isn't as well detailed and written it's either the same repeated scene or scenes which could be cut entirely and the story wouldn't be affected by it.
All of the intros start off really saccharine only to end up really dull, tragic or depressing.
