more normies are realizing the the binge watching model is vastly inferior to how things worked on syndicated television. stranger things season 4 is a massive hit primarily because they split it in 2 parts and allowed people to enjoy the first episodes at the same time

I wish they'd experiment with slower than a dump but faster than once a week
like try every three days and see if social media keeps up and people feel FOMO'd into not falling behind

The weekly model is worse than the binging model, which are both worse than the superior model I have been spreading the good word of throughout Cinemaphile: daily releases (6 a week, so 24 a month), so people can both be on the same page each day when discussing shows, allowing dedicated episode discussions, while also receiving their content expediently, as close to at once as convenient. This is the future, once streaming services get their shit together.

there's data showing that whatever is trending overnight gets a boost when the europeans and americans start waking up. your product will trend for 18 hours instead of 12. it's called momentum media or some shit, we learned about it in my intro marketing class last spring

i’m saying if they do know anything it’s only a fraction of what the actual israelites know
i’m sure stat fed ai based systems have been making our reality for years at this point while they steer based on esoteric rules passed thought generations

i saw next to this fat, ugly, antisocial prick at my last job. he loved game of thrones but always missed the premier, so i watched it just to frick with him. id watch the episodes before he could and then talk loudly about spoilers with another coworker right next to him. when someone died id practically yell it at him, and you could see the seethe in his eyes. when greyjoy killed the dragon and i spoiled that, he got so mad he flipped out on me and had to leave the office for a while. good times

It's not the fault of zoomers, because it's just what they're used to now, but the streaming/binge-watching model really did irreparable damage to television and how it's discussed, appreciated, and enjoyed

What's wrong with binge watching? I don't even bother with shows unless I can sit down and watch as long as I want. If they want to piecemeal that shit to me I'll wait for the whole thing to come out and then binge. Or more likely I'll just forget the show exists. Very strange business model, I don't get it.

        The weekly model:
        >gives you time to think about the last episode
        >builds anticipation
        >makes you more invested
I tried the whole binge-watching thing for a while, but it's so deeply unsatisfying. You burn through an entire season in a few days, tops, so you barely have time to think about individual episodes before the next one, it all becomes a blur. You've just experienced what used to be a year's worth of entertainment and then you have to wait 2-3 years for the next season, during which most of that time there's no meaningful discussion or you just forget about it entirely.

No longer feasible, when was the last time a streaming-only show went for more than 10 episodes per season? No one now is going to sit through 24 episodes anymore, that ship has sailed. Streaming/binging has made people too impatient and destroyed their attention spans (see OP's screenshot)

I feel really bad for people like her, and anyone on this board that lives like this (which is a majority of the user base). You have nothing going on in your life besides consuming media. “Waiting around” for a TV show? God I would probably run away from home if that’s what my life becomes.
