She was unironically a very good mother.

actually she is ironically a good mother since she is always portrayed as being an overbearing c**t.

My one issue with the show is you're right for 99% of the show, but there's a few episodes where she's just a massive c**t and it feels out of place

I personally felt that was some writers not being to conflate what made her good comedic foil with the things that make her a good character with flaws. Kind of a Lisa Simpson thing.

Her mother was a complete sociopathic c**t. Lois does well concediring, and was just a bossy hippie chick before Hals mental illness forced her to be stern.

One of the funniest gags in the show was when Lois got in traffic court and insisted that the car she hit came completely out of nowhere and being proven wrong was physically damaging to her psyche. Then at the end of the episode they find video evidence that proves Lois was right afterall and Hal and the boys are like "DESTROY IT! SHE MUST NEVER SEE THIS"

that's a good one. very much like real women.
driving is a reflex for them. she subconsciously knew she didn't do anything wrong but because her brain was in "i am driving" autopilot mode, she didn't even notice the other driver pulling an illegal u-turn. could have easily waved away the accusations if she had been paying attention to the drivers around her

She did indeed ruin Hal's life but at least the sex was good

Hal ruined his own life, He is a rich neppo baby ADHD/psychopath who would be dead without her.

A bit tangential but why do women do this? Every woman I've seen get a makeover ends up looking like a clown.

moreso beauty trends of the time. Not counting prostitutes that cake themselves regardless, but getting "glammed up" these days doesnt mean the darkest baboon ass red lipstick and arabian nights eyeliner.

Setting Craig straight, even though it hurt him in the short run, was one of the best things she ever did for someone else.

She is always right except for the episode in which she spends the scholarship money on a doll house (but in this one she basically has a mental break), and the episode where she ruins Dewey's high level music competition. In that latter case, she is genuinely evil, refuses to admit it, and the episode appears to suggest that she is right.

It's one of the best sitcoms, up there with the good seasons of the Simpsons.

The problem people have who think this way is that they are importing the dynamics of other shows where the mom is the straight man and voice of reason and intended to be the audience stand in. She just as much supposed to be a character of comedy with flaws like her sons. She is a karen who's behavior is explained by who she keeps company with.

The show acknowledges she is wrong from the book club episode on. There is no excuse for her behavior and she is compared to a woman actually doing it all and isn't a piece of shit. She is an butthole like her husband and sons

she probably knew what was going on but whether she participated is pure speculation
