I just can't shake the feeling that Marsellus is really meant to represent all the black men that use to date Tarantino's mom and that this rape scene in particular is meant to deal with the psychological effects of a young white boy growing up and seeing & hearing his unloving mother lust after non white men and how that experience lead that white boy to feel insecure about his masculinity, desirability, and overall worthiness of being loved.
In other words, the rape of big black Marsellus--who is know to sleep around with white woman--at the hands off a racist, scrawny, freaky looking white boy is meant to symbolize that Tarantino's masculinity type has prevailed against evil black men and that he is now worthy of the love that his mother never gave him.
But moments later, the hero of the film defeats the scrawny, freaky racists. One dies and the other is on his way to being tortured to death by the big black guy.
But you see, that's the cope of it all. Tarantino wants to defeat the black men that he thinks took his mother love away from him and the rape scene is meant to express that power fantasy but in then end it's all just a fantasy. Tarantino knows his masculinity could never measure up to big black Marsellus and that a woman like a Mia would always lust for Marsellus over him so that's why he flips it in the end.
It's signifying a come back to reality moment & accepting that he will never get the love from his mother that he wanted growing up and that in truth, the black guys that dated his mom treated him nice, better than his own white biological father and don't deserve his scorn. That's ultimately why Marsellus is allowed to win over peter Greene character in end. Tarantino has reached a resolution.
