It’s like they’re unable to write a smart character just being smart and making the most of it. The only exception I can think of is Ozymandias in watchmen.
A story with no conflict is boring, characters need a struggle
The conflict doesn’t have to revolve around their intelligence like that shit always does. Again ozymandias is a pretty good way to write a genius. The guy in the house md episode that drinks printer fluid or whatever to become stupid enough to love his girlfriend, isn’t.
What I'm saying is that a 9000 IQ ultra-competent character will just breeze through any conflict and render it uninteresting, unless they make suboptimal decisions, which Super Genius Boy would not do.
Yeah, super genius characters can breeze through all their problems, but making themselves seem like they're making sub-optimal decisions or they're having the problems just like everyone else instead of coming up with some genius plan is the solution. If you don't want that in a show or movie then don't make a super genius character.
Having 50 characters in a show and every one of them is needlessly complex, is dumb. You need to be able to get each character to understand whats going on. If you have no idea how any character will act or any of their true motives or thoughts because theyre extremely complex and hard to pin down, you're just going to be watching a series of scenes where random events happen that you cant predict or piece together for an overarching picture.

For the character it would make sense for her to lean on that kind of image, since it obviously works to manipulate people.
With Homelander she gets him by pointing out that she's smarter, with Firecracker she goes with the race stuff, with Ashley she gives her uncomfortable but good advice for dealing with Homelander, and with Deep she fricks him (he's not too bright so that's the only way to get at him).
