This, I was a little bit thrown off by the end credit sequence. They set James up as one thing so much that I didn't expect the other foot to come down so hard. For a dumb adult cartoon comedy that sells itself on shock humor, it was surprisingly good writing. that said I hope we never see James again, they shouldn't ruin what they got

James entered a smiling building because he needed cheering up, he physically and mentally Charlie who was too lazy to help Gwimbly in the beginning, James also ended up saving them from a psychotic and greedy CEO. James was crying because he abused Charlie even though he really tried his best to make him feel better.
It's the same thing as Desmond threatening to kill himself infront of Charlie and Pim in season 1, yet he saved Allen from the Bliblies to the detriment of Pim's mental health.

Upon achieving this, and not knowing what to do next, he thought it was a good chance to dip out and alleviate Charlie of his burden
