Ocean's Thirteen recovered decently from Ocean's Twelve
God 12 was so bad. 13 definitely saved the trilogy.
12 is great, plebs
It had a few good bits. I liked all the stuff in Amsterdam. But the "Oh yeah the plot was just everyone pretending :^)" shit where everything spirals down into pointlessness at the end is insufferable. The moronic laser dance and the julia roberts 4th wall break made it worse but I don't even think those were the movie's biggest problems.
>The moronic laser dance and the julia roberts 4th wall break
are great.
12 and 13 were both awful for different reasons but at least 12 has CZJ and that scene with the lasers.
Holy frick I didn’t think anyone but like boomer women thought this. 12 is unironically spectacular. The release order is the quality order though.
twelve had sovl, thirtheen had litterallly nothing, it was soulles as frick and not a good movie in any shape way or form, shit script, shit acting, (don cheetle fricking sucks) and lame story
this
wouldn't a "third sequel" be the 4th movie in a series?
yes, but this is coming from a man who thought "he didn't fly so good" was a good line, so vocabulary isn't one of his strengths
For you
I'm unclear why he dropped the ball so bad on Rises. It was so safe and overly grounded as to be boring, and timeskip batman was unappealing and in the end pointless. I suspect he was just obsessed with tapping into the Occupy Wallstreet movement relevancy.
Kek, didn't pick up on that.
The first. The two-face plot was fun in TDK, and Batman Begins has done actual atmosphere to it and had the most balls of the three films to have some actual comicbook absurd stakes with the city turning into a feargas zombie setting and dropping a train on a villain (that's still trash as a character moment for Bruce though. You can have that moment without it being a choice of Bruce's)
I have a lot of love for a lot of Batman media
Ledger dying threw him through a loop.
There was some talk that the third installment of Nolans Batman movies was supposed to involve the Joker going on trial.
the first is the sequel to nothing. its an inspiring quote
Return of the Jedi
Revenge of the Sith
You're half right.
The first half.
Return of the Jedi is awful.
>pussy whipped solo devoid of all humor
>boring locations
>fricking return to the natives shit with the ewoks
>death Star 2 LOL
Honestly Phantom Menace is better
Seeing Luke get pissed was kino though.
I liked the idea of him bordering light and dark but now that's just a gray jedi and the lore is all moronic.
I'll give you that. All the Vader / Luke / Emperor stuff is great in that movie.
I enjoy the rest of the movie but I think it's really nostalgia making me ignore the flaws.
Like you said the scenes with those three were good tho
It's like JJ never saw ROTJ when he made the sequels and made Luke an idiotic pussy. The exchange between Vader and the Emperor transformed Luke and it was so out of character he would've rushed to kill Kylo from a nightmare. Luke understood that corrupting forces like the Emperor were ultimately hollow and something to be avoided - why the frick would he let the corrupting influence of a bad dream send him down the dark path?
It had really cool space battles, I don't care about anything else.
>death Star 2 LOL
Except they subverted bringing it back in the same way for a gigantic trap that would have completely crushed the Rebels. Unlike the shit-tier The Force Awakens, it actually reused story elements from a previous story in a smart way.
>fricking return to the natives shit with the ewoks
The point was that the Empire didn't take backward primitives seriously, and that's what caused them to lose. And the Ewoks weren't even winning. They just threw enough bodies at the problem as a distraction until Han blew up the station.
>boring locations
The FRICK you say, old man? Jabba's palace, the Emperor's throne room, the Ewok village, the Home one planning station, the Sail Barge.
>pussy whipped solo devoid of all humor
"Why don't you use your divine influence and get us out of this?"
Stop lying.
>n-not a scratch...
>everyone has... delusions of grandeur!
>...I guess I could hot wire the thing?
>maybe Rocky III
he really is a midwit uh
Filtered
it is serious kino
>Hey, woman listen up. Since ya ol' man ain't got no heart, if you bring your pretty self to my room tonight, I'm gonna show you a real man!
Ultimatum is the best Bourne movie.
>Nolan is a Rocky enjoyer
Always knew he was based
Oceans thirteen, Revenge of the sith, Return of the King, Scary movie 3, Austin powers goldmember,
Pirates 3 are pretty good people just get filtered
>Return of the King
objectively the worst, even jackson admits he rushed it because he ran out of money
Yet still kino
Back to the Future III exists, Nolan.
Beat me to it, and it's better than two
Also, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
>The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
That's not a part of a trilogy, it's a stand-alone movie. Even if you apply some bizarre headcanon that Clint Eastwood's character is the same in each movie, then The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is a prequel, not a sequel.
>same actors dressed the same, similar soundtracks and style, same director, all centered around a poncho wearing man with no name played by Clint Eastwood who's behaviour barely changes between films
Its definitely a trilogy, its just a trilogy of standalone films. The same way Twilight Zone episodes aren't connected but they're still part of the same series
>same actors dressed the same
Lee van Cleef plays two completely different characters with almost polar opposite personalities. Clint Eastwood's character never remarks upon their identical looks, strongly suggesting the films are not in the same continuity.
>all centered around a poncho wearing man with no name played by Clint Eastwood who's behaviour barely changes between films
Clint's character in Good Bad Ugly does not wear a poncho, and each character he plays has a different name. I would also argue that Blondie is a lot more morally grey than Joe or Monco in behaviour, frauding law enforcement for his own personal benefit whereas Joe only intends to fraud criminals who have taken the law into their own hands and explicitly turns down the idea of frauding a government and Monco is a completely law-abiding citizen.
The movies share a setting and some of people who worked on them are the same, but in no way are they a trilogy that share continuity. At best, you can argue that they are a thematic trilogy like the cornetto trilogy but even that is weak because the movies were never marketed that way, and the whole idea of them being a trilogy only came to be long after they were released.
I think there's a pretty strong through-line between the first and second, the third definitely feels like its own film though.
Why does Clint's character change his name then?
I thought he had no name in the first one, and is only called Manco by a gun shop owner or something in the second. It's not like in TGTBATU where he's called Blondie the entire film.
The Innkeeper calls him Joe throughout the first film.
They're NOT in the same continuity, but they're still the same trilogy. Its an anthology
An anthology series is still a series
It’s still a sequel. By your logic Evild Dead 2 or Road Warrior wouldn’t be sequels either because they are basically stand alone. The movies follow the same character.
tokyo drift
technically a ret-conned prequel
Prisoner of Azkaban
Goldfinger
>Shame?
Is that the one where the Russian guy kills the black guy? That Rocky movie was the best one
Nah that's the 4th movie
So the third sequel
Rambo 3 is better than 2
the space battle is pretty cool, but I think a lot of the movie drags
Why not? He's smart enough to realize and acknowledge he made a stinker.
>Toy Story 3
>Red
>Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
>>Toy Story 3
Based Toy Story 3 enjoyer, it even has good games, it provided false hope for the 2010's
>Matrix Revolutions
>The Bourne Ultimatum
>Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
>Austin Powers in Goldmember
Sounds like Nolan is just a huge cazzie homosexual tbqh
>matrix
>harry potter
Yes, transpeople are known to love Harry Potter.
>Harry Potter
>Lord of The Rings
>Toy Story
>Planet of The Apes
Go back
Toy Story 3 was vastly inferior to 2 and 1.
3 was better if you grew up with the series. Kids who watched 1 in theaters were Andy's age by 3.
No it wasn't. I grew up watching that shit on vhs and saw 3 in the theaters and it was good but was still far inferior
War for the Planet of the Apes
How to Train Your Dragon 3
Bourne Ultimatum
>Dark Knight Rises suck
>The Dark Knight sucks
>all his Batman movies suck
>Christopher Nolen fricking sucks
What level are you on?
Batman Begins was his best Batman movie, for the parts that adapted the comics. The new stuff was dumb.
PHANTASM 3
Dream Warriors...dream warriors
Halloween SotW
Infernal Affairs 3 is kino af
Pusher 3 is a masterpiece
>Nolan is pleb
Wouldn't a third sequel be the fourth movie?
Exorcist 3
Godfather 3 and Scary Movie 3 are both kino in their own way
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Emmanuelle and Black Emmanuelle had tonnes of sequels and they were great
Army of Darkness
TDKR has the bones for a good movie, but Nolan clearly wrote it in haste to get away from doing Batman movies.
It typically goes 1>3>2, except with the Batman's for some reason.
Nah, the second movie tends to be the great one. Empire Strikes Back, Godfather 2. The first one is best standalone movie, the second one expands on the universe in creative ways, the third is a sellout that ends in a disappointing conclusion.
Those seem like outliers. Toy Store, Die Hard, Bourne, LOTR, The Before Trilogy, Rocky, Three Colors, Evil Dead, and Dollars are all 1>3>2.
Indy is 1>3>2 for some people. Then you have weird ones where its 2>1>3 like Mad Max and Raimi-Man.
i mean he didnt want to make TDKR, this is well documented
so yes
Rocky VI is the third sequel to Rocky. And there are good third sequels. Star Trek IV was fricking great.
Rocky SIX is the third sequel, anon? How do you figure that out?
Goldfinger in addition to the ones mentioned
>3rd sequel
>rocky 3
is this headline real?
Lethal Weapon 3 is the best one.
It's a hot take I know.
Alien 3 > Aliens
Idiot.
did anyone say Die Hard with a Vengeance?
well, Nolan is a "self-taught" director lol
>I didn't go to films, I went to movies
What did he mean by this?
He meant he go movies
no. and if he is, frick him. dark knight rises was better than muh action-thriller no morals dark knight
I have been waiting 15 years for them to make a Crank 3.
I think he intentionally made it suck
But its the best one of the three
