So how come people disliked True Detective S3 so much? Was it really the black protagonist?

terraformars lookin ass
nah the plot stunk
I didnt really care about the blacked stuff. The story just went nowhere.
>You're gonna bleed black cock.
Based
I'll have boss crackers splitting your ass in Angola.
It was so obviously the diversity version, right around that time everyone was being pressured into this shit. I didn't watch it. Two was my favorite. I'll keep that good memory.
>It was so obviously the diversity version
I never got that vibe. It's rural '80s US. There were some racial tensions.
how is it diversity when s1 and s3 take place in the deep south
this
everybody knew and that’s why it bombed
/thread
quality aside, it's the same reason why s2 didn't do so well - people just wanted more of the same that was s1. which is sad because they clearly went for that in s3, but different enough. these kinds of setups are always divisive with people.
>people just wanted more of the same that was s1.
you mean, people wanted S2 to delve deeper into the sex cult pedophile conspiracy that involved a governor and possibly even higher ups?
You mean people weren't satisfied with the fucking spaghetti monster being domed as the end of that?
I mean, leave Rust and Cohle, their stories were through. But let someone else pick up where they left.
>retard doesn't understand anthologies
Many such cases, always very sad!
Cause nothing happened in it
>Was it really the black protagonist?
YES.
when will you fuckers realize.
I will not watch your pozzed bullshit.
it doesn't matter what IP you smear with the shit brush.
I just won't watch it.
I liked it, but less than the other two seasons. Was playing it too safe with the formula: first 3 eps build up with a big action scene for episode 4, then build-up again for the last episode.
>the butler did it
Dislike? nah. I think Ronald is a better character overall
At least here it was disliked because people got excited it seemed to be going back to S1 territory with conspiracies and elites and child sex trafficking shit and then the twist was that it was none of that and just one schizo bitch that wanted to have a daughter again.
They also dropped the ball by not just having a single director for the whole thing again. It doesn't vary stylistically as much as Season 2 did but the first two episodes that Jeremy Saulnier did were noticeably slicker with the transitions from present to past than anything that came later.
Plot was kinda dumb, great performances also my wife Sarah Gadon was in it
It’s kino, only really annoying thing in it is the constant switch between 3 time periods
At the time I remember liking it the most, but now remember next to nothing about it. Genuinely not a clue what the story was.
they couldn't handle how it effortlessly mogged season 1
>"Doc, we're gonna need more copium for patient anon."
>"DON'T ASK ME HOW MUCH BRING THE WHOLE FUCKING TANK IT'S AN EMERGENCY!"
the relationship between the two cops felt so real, how they loved and hated each other sometimes in the same conversation
I watched True Detective last week, finished it yesterday and I’ve been acting like Rust. I constantly talk to myself like I’m in an interview. That’s just how I do… I go home, no girlfriend just my right handddddaa. Same old same old. *Smokes cigarette* a lot of people like that nowadays… Humanity on the edge of technological innovation, finding itself so divorced from its animalistic instincts… that I guess humanity will cease to reproduce or connect in any meaningful manner *Sips beer*
>finding itself so divorced from its animalistic instincts
Damn Rust, now we're in 2023 and humanity is complete slaves to their animalistic instincts. Whaddya say to that?
Buddy, we’re all slaves to our biological determinism, but nowadays I see these feellas pumping hard in metal chambers in order to get a a Phillipino girlfriend looking for a green card. I see people splitting up and failing in their marriages and partnerships on a daily basis. Everyone’s had enough of each other and would rather, or at least fool themselves into thinking they are better off sitting in their room masturbating to women and a life they would actually like. Soon enough, the cycle will repeat and Humanity will finally stop reproducing and march into the abyss… complete peace and quiet
God damn it Rust, you are one depressing motherfucker. I bet you think Epstein didn't kill himself either, do ya?
What am I some kind of maniac, Marty? Of course Epstein killed himself. That is Epstein killed himself despite being in good spirits earlier in the same day and the cameras being conveniently shut off during his attempt and his guards being conveniently put off duty despite Epstein being on suicide watch. Just some crazy coincidences, Marty. Some things you cannot make up… even if you tried
moron was okay. I just didn't like the plot.
Literally the best ending scene of any true detective season. Fantastic wrap, way better than Season 1's lame "the light is winning" shit.
I respect the gamble they took with the overall plot/mystery but it was a little unsatisfying to have such a banal answer.
Fading into the jungle was absolutely incredible. Great parallel of his mind
It was fucking boring and the protag wasnt an anime character like Rus
The three timelines in True Detective Season 3 was overkill and the storyline in 1990 was weak other than that I dont remember much. pretty forgettable tbh.
I see True Detective Season 4 and Fargo season 5 as a rivalry series and wonder which one will be better but my bet would be Fargo
> I dont remember much
literally how I feel about the show. Ironic, considering the entire show is about alzheimers and forgetting shit. Then the season is the most forgettable piece of garbage. It's like pottery it... wait how does that line go again? I forgot...
rivals of what, who can be the shittier show?
> Jon Hamm will play a character named Roy in Juno Temple will play Dot, while Jennifer Jason Leigh plays Lorraine.
>Foster plays Liz Danvers, one of the main detectives on the case. The other detective is Evangeline Navarro, who is going to be played by Kali Reis.
pretty solid cast
Jon Hamm is in it? Wtf. I'm worried there won't be enough cute babes in it though... huge part of s01 success were the qt females to balance out the grim somber vibe of the rest. Something pretty to rest your eyes at from time to time, and now it's gonna be old hag-fest with male eye candy Jon Hamm instead.
take your male gaze elsewhere chud
thank god neil druckman has ushered in a new era where only burn victim tier fuglies are allowed to be cast in female leads
NO WIFE
NO KIDS
NO OLD FRIENDS
NO SHOWERS
NO UNPROCESSED FOOD
NO WESTERN ANIMATION
smooth brains can't handle jumping between time frames
No one was likable. Everyone was a fucking asshole. The ending wasn’t bad but the reality of the sisters disappearance and course of her life afterwards was mediocre and bland compared to the events of s1 and 2
Imagine a season with Dominic West and Idris Elba as the protagonist detectives on a case like the the unsolved Hinterkaifeck murders mixed with the Keddie Cabin murders. That would make you guys squirt and squirm non-stop
Might as well just re-do Bunk & McNulty instead at that point. Their chemistry would be 9 trillion times better than with Idris. Come to think of it, McNulty & Bunk is pretty similar to Rust & Marty dynamically
I rather go for a Bob Odenkirk and Michael Imperioli duo. Those two would have awkward chemistry
>Bob Odenkirk
>True Detective
holy fucking miscast this would be a fucking nightmare to watch.
would be a potential duo, but Pierce might be too old-looking.
Add Richard Gere too the mix and we got the boomer doomer squad ready. Not gonna lie, I would absolutely love those three interacting
>show about a detective
>mystery literally spoonfed to the protagonist by a writer's convenience in the last episode
I tried watching it, but I couldn't hear/understand anything that was being said so I turned it off.
it was better than S2 but worse than S1
has anyone actually watched it to give a fair assessment?
lots of potential but couldn't live up to it
>Both leads are great and give strong performances
>Aside from McNary, very weak supporting cast
>The wife was completely wasted
>Mystery solved by five minute exposition dump in the last episode
>Good setting
>Good music
>Best ending scene among the seasons
>Great makeup work in regards to the aging
it's the good one
the dude was fine, the woman was awful
It was a glib facsimile of season 1
