So I rewatched this and found it not as terrible as I used to think. The pacing is excellent. No scene really drags on.

So I rewatched this and found it not as terrible as I used to think.
The pacing is excellent. No scene really drags on. Anakin and Padme's romance is beautifully intertwined with exciting Obi-Wan's investigation.
Shmi's funeral, even if it is a very short scene, features best Hayden's acting in the movie.

For some reason though the CGI looks outdated, much more than in TPM.

Overall, I enjoyed it.

It was the first film to be fully shot on digital, as opposed to film with CG rendered on top. Revenge of the Sith suffers in the same way and gives that “soap opera” appearance. George gets a lot of flack, but he pushed digital into the mainstream.

The fact that literally every special effect in the movie was tweaked and countless mistakes/quirks fixed seems to go completely over your head.

Young Anakin's force ghost, Mos Eisley CGI, Vader screaming NOOOOO, Greedo shooting first, Boba Fett's voice, Jabba's Papace dance, those are the real fricking problems. And that's just the ones off the top of my head.

no because you can see from this shot that is pretty closed up. Part of the visual language in films is know when you can allow the audience to infer something and or otherwise. There can incongruities in what you present that would require some sort of visual explanation. This was not done here, hence why people have a problem with it.

There are a bunch of welcome improvements, but it also adds an equal amount of absolute trash and even replaces actors with worse ones. A bunch of originally great moments are ruined. When you add all of it up, the special editions are just not worth it. The only decent one is Empire and even that one fricking replaces Boba Fett's voice actor. The other two are full of fricked up shit that completely take me out of the movie.

It's not crucial or anything but it's still a part of the movie that was made worse. But like I said before, Empire special edition isn't so bad. It has more good changes than bad changes and is perfectly watchable. And Temuara isn't bad, just worse. Which still sucks and I don't see why you would defend it.

You're both wrong. If I'm not mistaken this shot was taken in reshoots after the set was taken apart which is why the chairs in the hallway look like a printed board. There's clipping in the webm but we also see at the film's beginning that it's an actual set.

        >The origin of the Separatists is never explained
The origin of the Separatist movement is the previous movie, the Republic being a rotten cesspit of corruption and having a whole giant incident that cast a huge spotlight on that fact
        >The threat they pose is never significant, all we get is a roundtable of random people saying they're in
A round table which includes the antagonist from the previous movie, who casually threw around a droid army large enough to effortlessly conquer a whole planet. Given that it is a round table, the viewer is led to assume that all of the other figures are of equal relevance and thus equal power and threat.
        >We are never shown why the Republic needs a random, mail-order army with no receipt when its size should guarantee a large standing army anyway
It is said right in the movie that it has been over 1000 years since the Republic was at war, of course any standing military would be dismantled after an era of peace that long.

        You are dumb.

        >who casually threw around a droid army large enough to effortlessly conquer a whole planet
You mean an army that was beaten by a bunch of morons with blue balls and a child? Even the TF's leaders were shown to be bumbling idiots.
        >of course any standing military would be dismantled after an era of peace that long.
Perhaps, but still there's no given reason why such an army couldn't have been mobilized in place of the clones, whose origin was shady.
        >the Republic being a rotten cesspit of corruption
Well first off, I will still hold that this is poorly shown in the prequels. For example, everywhere in George's lovely CG landscapes we see endless prosperity and beauty. Wow, such failure. But besides that, wouldn't such corruption justify the Separatists in their actions? Why then should I care about the Republic's wellbeing? Again, what is at stake? What are the CG troopers fighting so hard for?

          >there's no given reason why such an army couldn't have been mobilized
Not him, but to me the use of clones (and droids) shows just how decrepit the Republic has become. Neither side has the capacity or will to actually mobilize their people, instead relying on drone armies with no ties to any institution, or loyalty to any except their maker. Such a war does not need any kind of popular mandate beyond the elite level of the Senate.

This movie starts off okay but ends as a fricking mess. That whole coluseum scene and plotline on that planet are stupid. Why not introduce Dooku in episode 1? Oh that’s right you forgot to leave a bad guy for this one.
Nothing saves that movie. Except for maybe the scene where Obi meets the clones

The Sith revealed themselves in TPM, Dooku wouldn't have been a Sith villain with a red saber and lightning hands at that point. Maul could have been the villain in all 3, but a Jedi defecting to the Sith (before Anakin) shows how the Republic and Jedi order was falling apart at the seams

This. AOTC got a lot of things right, but the end was weak. Especially the jedi appearing in the collusseum, it was supposed to be a triumphant reveal like the Merry Men rescuing Robin Hood, but they had no plan (which doesn't make sense because coordinating the attack took planning) and a lot of them get cut down easily. That was the first time you see jedi as dumb cannon fodder, for someone raised on the OT and TPM it was a jarring false note.

The last Star Wars movie was made in 1983. The prequels felt like fanfiction. Anakin in the prequels and Vader the in OT were two completely different people. I know tragedy and the dark side befell Anakin but some remnant of him should have still been visible in Vader. A human Vader would be closer to a Joe Friday from Dragnet; stoic and by the book.

Clones' dialogue is better than Menace. It has more punch. The characters aren't as robotically formal. They are more snarky and smart alecky. Just compare Obi Wan's personalities in both

Shrek came out while AotC was in production and audiences loved it in a way that they didn't Phantom Menace despite the hype. I imagine Lucas watched Shrek and went "maybe i should update my writing style. Add more snarky personalities to these characters"

I keep saying that AOTC is the best of the prequels. Keep in mind that I hate them all, but this one is by far the most watcheable.
1 is boring trash and 3 is beyond pathetic in terms of how morons pretend that it's a good movie. 2 is trash but it's paced well, unintentionally funny and there are some good scenes like the chase/ combat scene between obi-wan and the masked homosexual.

Attack of the clones is the actual peak of starwars,
A magnificent straight camp movie. Amazing visuals, filled with symbolism, deep, varied locales. Strong characters, exciting developments.
Pacing is fast, but not excessively so. The violence and action ramps up into an explosive third act that really sells it all.
Fantastic movie all in all: 9/10

I'm a zoomer and i always thought that my generation was the nerdy and autistic generation since my parents who are boomers don't give a shit about technology or really anything created after 1980s and 90s. I watched the prequels when i was a kid and then when i got older i found out that 30-40 grown up manchildren literally bullied George Lucas into selling his fricking franchise because the prequels weren't exactly what those dumb fricking neckbeards wanted, and nitpicked it to death like no other movie ever. Literally Those Millenials/Gen Xers might be the most pathetic generation i've ever seen, making George Lucas sell his product because big babies couldn't handle that the movies weren't exactly as they felt it should be according to muh cannon and star wars lore (even though george is the fricking creator kek). The prequels are fine, enjoyable and have a great style of fantasy utopia to them compared to the gritty and realistic OT, all the manchilds achieved was getting disney to destroy star wars

      >when i got older i found out that 30-40 grown up manchildren literally bullied George Lucas into selling his fricking franchise
It was astroturf. Hollywood lowballed Lucas, which drove him to go solo, and they never forgave him for 'fricking' them out of their 'share' of the billions he made. Millenelols liked it just fine. If there was any sperg out, it was RLM Gen Xers

Why do prequelgays keep pretending that Lucas is some poor outsider artist when he’s a multibillionaire businessman. If some billionaire is crying over what random people have to say about his shitty movies then that just makes him a total loser.

The unfortunate thing about George getting bullied out of the industry is that we will never get movies like he could make again.

For as much as prequelgays like to claim this movie expands muh SW universe or whatever, AoTC fails to address even the most basic questions of its world:
    >The origin of the Separatists is never explained
    >The threat they pose is never significant, all we get is a roundtable of random people saying they're in
    >We are never shown why the Republic needs a random, mail-order army with no receipt when its size should guarantee a large standing army anyway
Ultimately, there are no stakes and no reasons to care about any of the assets we're shown. All we are left with are seas of CGI robots and clones fighting each other because reasons. The Republic is failing because...it just is, okay??
