This. Ridley went full senile and only cares about David at this point.

He intended the point of Covenant to set up David as the creator of the xenomorphs, meaning in a hypothetical sequel he would get access to another Engineer ship, fill it with xeno eggs and then through some means get foiled in his plans have the ship end up on LV.

Nevermind the scientific instruments implying the Derelict had been on LV for like a million years.

It's already been explained. The goo recombinates DNA. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. The engineers trust it

Just finish up the original biblical lore to the engineers. Why does anyone still care about the jokey being ruined? It already has, and the Aliens series has had biblical imagery since Alien 3 (kino if you watch the assembly cut).

Wasn't it implied somewhere we were chosen for destruction because Christ was an Engineer or an Engineer envoy and we crucified him?

Yes, it's in the original script

that Christ was a child taken from Earth and taught their ways of peace and enlightenment at the time, then when returned the other humans tortured and killed him.

of course not, writing them would be difficult.
if he has any sense they would be a long dead race with the odd stasis survivor.
i roll my eyes at the <<deleted scene>> showing them only for david to conveniently wipe them out to avoid having to come up with any actual story purpose for them, let alone dialogue.
he couldnt even think of anything for shaw to do, so what does he do? kill her off screen. horribly. because that sort of shit worked so well in alien 3 rite?
    fricking waste of potential movie

Ridley got fired, that happened like two years ago. The prequels are currently dead, as are ALL the Engineers. David killed them. All of them. From the mouth of Ridley Scott. You see, when you go to a sit-down with Disney corporate execs, looking to get your third prequel done you might want to have a script ready. Especially when you make flop after flop. Disney humored Ridley by sitting down with him, because he is still highly respected and don't forget he's a fricking SIR Ridley now. Except he got Lucas'd. He's extremely lucky the Blade Runner franchise is owned by Alcon as at least they will let him produce. The poor moron STILL has the same "announced" status on his imdb for two years straight now. It's pathetic and I hate his fricking guts.

They were disappointed in their creation. The whole point of the first movie was "what if your creator whom you idolized hated you and wanted you gone." That's why the Engineer listens to David briefly, then gets violent, because he realizes the humans didn't go the way they planned.

      Anonymous

      Why were they disappointed?
Why would they have absolutely no curiosity about who contacted them, and make no effort to communicate at all?
Why would they not know about, or keep tabs about humans?
What's so bad about making androids?
Why would the Engineers give a star map leading to a deadly weapons research planet?
This movie makes no fricking sense, and if there IS some bumbling head cannon the writers have in mind, there is nothing in the script that explains any of it.
Its' a fricking moronic reaction from the roided white supremacist (not that there anything wrong with that) gayonneers
Frick Scott for directing this poorly written piece of shit instead of demanding better from them and the studio.

        >Space Hulk smash slightly more puny human!
That's all there is to it. You've already put more thought into the story than Ridley did.

Almost all of your answers are in the script actually. They had a long speech for the engineer to say and he explained almost everything you're asking. The script even says that speaking takes so much effort for this advanced race that it removes centuries from their lives and he starts straining from it. But then they decided they wanted to be more mysterious and didn't put it in the actual movie, just left in the part where he wakes up then skipped to where he chimps out.

That's what a billion years advanced evolution over humans does. They fly around in big empty spaceships with a flute to pass the time.

On a visual level they are nearly identical and display standard Hollywood CGI. I don't get why fans of Prometheus rave about the vfx. And if Fassbender wasn't in it gaying things up then apparently the whole movie would have fallen apart even more.

      WRONG,
Jesus was a child the engineers ubducted and thought, then they sent him to earth and he was crucified thus angaring the Engineers very much

No, apparently Ridley is pulling a Lucas (being pouty that no one likes his stuff anymore, so he's taking his ball and going home, or letting Disney have their way with it).

    >and explain why they wanted humans dead
prevailing theory is realizing the Human race was a mistake they need to correct.

    >what exactly the black goo is?
science experiment stuff, this was sort of explained in Covenant.

      Anonymous

      >Science experiment stuff
It's supposed to be modified blood of the first Deacon.
Basically there was an ayy, a progenitor xenomorph that was discovered by the engineers. It's blood broke them down into primordial soup and this somehow "saved them" from themselves and they formed a religion around it and seeded earth with it.

The black goo doesn't simply break you down though, it breaks you down and recreates deacons.
