Far too late.
At least I hope Robbie Margot dies so that they can have somebody younger play HQ on TV.
The Suicide Squad is cool actually. DC and people like you just have forgotten the original point to them.
Kind of hard to when they use the same ones repeatedly that you know are going to survive, making their name a lie
>tfw you're Ricky McGimmick and you find yoursle on the same squad as killer croc, deadshot and harley quinn
I correct you on one thing
No, we have not forgotten what they are about, because we remember what they were supposed to be is why we are tired of them pushing this version of the Suicide Squad
Admittedly, as a team, they have more of a clear "thing" distinguishing them from the Justice League than the Justice Society or the Teen Titans. Same with the Doom Patrol. Legion of Superheroes could, but it is perhaps too muddled, though.
These are true, also.
This, WB/DC is obsessed with pushing them because they're the largest team most distinct from the JL. Early JSA is seen as "JL but WWII and later JSA is mostly deemed convoluted due to all the legacies and now has the Rock's failure written all over it. Titans, while super popular with casuals and normies cause of TT03 and TTG, has the problem of a lot of the more popular/used comic members being legacies so if they try to expand beyond literally who original characters, so they'd be seen as "JL but young". And WB already had the problem of trying to make the JL distinct from the Avengers in the eyes of casuals. No way they'd be able to do it with JSA and Titans.
Suicide Squad on the other is really different (villains vs heroes, made to do shit bc of a bomb in their head vs heroism, etc). And a bonus is Joker and Harley are villains so they can show up whenever.
The entire point of most of these characters, specially Harley, is also being tied to pre-existing ones, which is the same as being an outright legacy character.
If they truly gave a frick about that they wouldn't push the SS(less so with HQ) either.
I like the Suicide Squad a lot since I've always been a fan of C or below list villains getting a spotlight, but DC seems to have forgotten the while point of the squad.
The purpose is to have a team of unimportant villains do shady government black op missions that actual heroes can't be seen doing.
What DC seems to think they were is a team of anti-heroes who have the save the world every other day and filling it with characters they'll never kill off like Harley Quinn.
Its a shame too, I love the 80s run and the early Nu52 run is alright as well, but it all went down hill around the time of the movie.
>and the early Nu52 run is alright as well
It absolutely wasn't
Don't get me wrong, it's by no means good, but looking back and comparing it to newer stuff it's at least passable though very far from the ideal
Most people don't even know what they were like
The game mega bombing is the last straw. I don't see them being pushed as hard ever again.
Didn't the game cost WB more than the original movie's profits?
Honestly yeah. According to official WB accounts they lost 200 million USD with that piece of shit. It'll be a while before we see Suicide Squad anything again.
Suicide Squad Isekai is about to come out. If it also flops, the IP will be shelved for decades. If it does well, I can see DC continue to push them in media.
>If
There is no way in hell that shit is successful
Has Peacemaker
If he's not a recurring character, that shit is going to fail
lol
Never
And the attempts just keep getting worse and worse
I wish they would stop dragging Katana down with the Suicide Squad
When they decide to stop making movie sequels and don't need to advertise them anymore.
i don't remember croc or harley being on the suicide squad in the comics
i get why harley gets pushed so much but why croc?
The movie basically made Crock the "misunderstood deformed isolated by society"
Who we know is a cannibal, which is no surprise the fans ignores it, they already love Harley although she is as guilty of all the Joker's crimes as the Joker himself.
I mean, OG Croc was just mob with deformed skin, not actually fricking Human Croc
yeah he was one of those dick tracy batman villains
iirc the og clayface was like that too
never
Once gunn fails they will stop finally and then in 10 years or so we might get a good Suicide Squad. Or probably not.
what is your ideal suicide squad line-up?
if you had complete control of the franchise who would you have on your team?
classic Ostrander reps
-Bronze Tiger
-Deadshot
-Captain Boomerang
NuSquad reps
-*ugh* Harley
-Peacemaker
Newcomer
-Prankster -brains
-Monsieur Mallah - mascot
fodder
-Riot or Multiplex
-Blockbuster or Ohm or Shaggy Man
-Baroness von Blietzkrieg or The Rival
The shaggy man is a legitimate superman level threat.
The frick did Waller get him under control?
the Shaggy Man was technically was in the squad as Eiling. Waller's also had Manchester Black, General Zod and Lobo once... yeah even the squad had been under power creep.
Depends on the mission, I think the best stories make sure to have all the members do at least one useful thing to justify why they are there.
That said, Bronze Tiger, Deadshot and Boomerang should always be there, maybe King Shark too, but he could be swapped out for various other big bruiser types like say, Cinderblock, and then from there just grab a golden/silver age weirdo from like a few issues like idk Mime? Rainbow Raider?
They flopped
