Haven't seen it, saw everything up untill Endgame. After that I just stoped caring about MCU. Only watched falcon and the winter soldier and it was really bad
For the first half I honestly thought it was trying to be camp like Adam West's Batman. That first scene where he finds the thumb and goes "ohh... for thumb DRIVE!" reminded me of this scene and I could not stop thinking about how stupid the "detective" scenes were until I walked out
>For the first half I honestly thought it was trying to be camp like Adam West's Batman. That first scene where he finds the thumb and goes "ohh... for thumb DRIVE!"
Drive....car....thumb drive.... THUMB drive...you are el..... URL?
They should let Snyder finish up with his grimdark batman but I'd really like to see something influenced by Adam West and 60's pop art after all this.
>Weak plot with Guess Who level "detective batman" >Leather stitched gimp mask >Zero physical presence >Amateur fight choreography because Pattinson refused to do real training >Idiot plot for mouth-breathers >No excuse for it's flaws because its 2022 and the Nth iteration of Batman
The film has zero redeeming qualities. >Batman is a whiny skinny little boy with zero physical presence >Suit is specifically crafted armour but helm is a stitched leather gimp mask >Villain goes full retard in the 3rd act for no reason other than to move the plot along >Batman being a detective makes modern procedural cop shows look good because he's clearly retarded with no access to 3+ decade old crime scene tech methods. >No likeable characters >Weak fight choreography that looks like a bad power rangers episode
Probably because it was garbage.
Long movie with glacial pace and the characters still felt underdeveloped.
Batman and Catwoman were unlikable.
The villains were boring and shitty.
The detective work was kindergarten tier.
The action was sparse and lame.
Still not as bad as BvS or Justice League (both version) but it's extremely fucking close.
it was mediocre and meandering
the attempts at being cinematic were undercut by its own goofy script
I wanted to like it but there really isn't much there, and it's stretched out egregiously
I thought it was better than TDK by a longshot
TDK's answer to vigilantism was quit because it could cause crime.
The Batman's answer was fix the negative aspects of yourself and help other people, and if it inspires some bad, fuck it and keep fighting.
I thought it was awesome.
also >AFFLECK WAS A BIG FUCKING FATTY
i hate how shallow this website is
people did the same shit for every batman movie and in a few years the people who hated on this will be slobbering all over it
it just pisses me off
I loved this one, but I can understand the criticism, the script really let go in the third act. That being said, this is a contrarian board that likes to shit on everything, I mean its Cinemaphile lots of angry/trolling types here. People here defend Snyder ffs and his Batman that kills people, and shots his movies with a lame filter that looks like a cutscene from a ps3 game for lords sake
completely agree
it's clever how they answer the vigilante question
by changing his motive, which is what riddler took inspiration from, batman can now only inspire copycats based on the mere fact that he is a vigilante, and those that are inspired will either die due to inexperience, make no impact, or will become murderers, and none of those are Batman's fault. Those are choices made by the people and the only thing they can say Batman did to inspire them is the mere presence of a vigilante, or Batman's mission to enact justice, which is basically just another way to say "vigilante"
>the movie really did a good choice by making this a rookie Batman
yeah, no. Nobody wants to see batman who doesn't know how to be batman. Like nobodywants to see sherlock holmes wh doesn'tt know how to detect
>Tell that to Year One
Year One Batman could destroy a tree trunk with a single kick, went directly after the mobsters and corrupt cops, and was able to rid Gotham of corruption. All on his own.

Jesus fucking christ everything can look good on footage with the right practical.
>mostly retarded, contrived, and poorly paced
For the first film in a series, it triumphs over Begins, which is a boring pretentious-fest with shit dialogue and an even shittier third act. I skip a massive chunk of that flick everytime I watch it because it's so dull.
>Tell that to Year One
Year One Batman could destroy a tree trunk with a single kick, went directly after the mobsters and corrupt cops, and was able to rid Gotham of corruption. All on his own.
Reeves clearly took inspiration from Zero Year more than Year One. Year One is in the design aesthetics, but Zero Year represents the characters.
Reeves wanted to do something new with Batman in cinema. I respect that, but the audience did not. Maybe because the thriller itself is not engaging enough. It doesn't get into your mind like Zodiac. A thriller must provoke appetite. Seduce. The Batman doesn't have that in the thriller aspect, it has that in what Batman does as a vigilante (Combat, Batmobile) and those moments are brief because the movie is a thriller.
Another point against, but on a personal level, is that Reeves didn't have the balls to say more explicitly that the green militia was a direct consequence of the systematic corruption of the city's political and judicial body. Real Mayor was there to redeem, I mean what the fuck step on the fucking gas pedal.
>Reeves wanted to do something new with Batman in cinema
No he didn't he made the safest Batman movie possible. If he wanted to do something new he would've done Batman Beyond, The Batfamily or fantastical villians but no he did the same muh dark muh realism take as Nolan.
What the fuck are you even talking about, the movie for the first tame gave up the boring dihotomy of Batman superhero and Bruce playboy. Pattison went edgy all the way, and he played it great. You can argue about the degree but it was the least safest Batman since fucking 89. The movie took tons of risks
too much shit aimed at teenagers, who don't care about Batman because he's a boomers superhero
like the whole romance subplot, all of Catwoman scenes, Nirvana, le edgy narration and all the other shit only teenagers wouldn't find cringe and banal
Didn't they put it on HBO Max for like two weeks when it first came out? I feel like it would have beaten Dr. Strange were it not for that. Still you'd think a Batman move in 2022 would break at least a billion even without that.
This film is up there with Kubrick..and I by that I mean it was Uwe Boll level of retardation when it comes to adaptation. You'd have to be the thickest, densest worst kind of idiot to think this film offers anything.
So not a flop at all, in fact if they had kept it to its original budget before covid fucked their shit up it would have been one of the most profitable capeshit of all time
Yeah no they aren't, not flops either. But you're right this wasn't like Joker that got praise from people like Michael Mann or Cahiers du Cinema. Better than marvel for sure but still not enough
Long movie with glacial pace and the characters still felt underdeveloped.

BvS is way better than this, so is Snyder's JL. Nothing in those comes close to the cringe that is the "Riddler" in this movie. Not even Eisenberg's Luthor.
Dano's performance was so terrifying, completely unhinged, full of pain and rage. You forget it's not real, the recordings and rantings of a psychopath - amazing actor.
Except the entire movie is so cheesy and lacking awareness of it's cheese that you totally can't check out and can't help but notice you're watching a bad film because your IQ is above the double digit range and you don't breath through your mouth.
it was mediocre and meandering
the attempts at being cinematic were undercut by its own goofy script
I wanted to like it but there really isn't much there, and it's stretched out egregiously
It had the best Batman aesthetics, best Gotham by a longshot. Pattison nailed the "tormented violent freak" they were going with this Batman. With better script it would be the best Batman. The batmobile kicked ass, Selina was sexy and Kravitz nailed her part. Dano was cringeKINO, Penguin was great. Action scenes were amazing, I mean the fucking batmobile was really good. I wish it had a better script, honestly the movie looses it in the third act, can't argue with that tho. I'm vengeance/10
>Pattinson can't put asses in the seats. Simple as.
The plot was bad and the dialogue was bad and there was no real mystery when it was supposed to be a mystery. Pattinson was fine given what he had to work with.
Because its just a really average movie. It only got somewhat good ratings because its been like a decade since the last batman movie. If this dogshit movie was released one year after TDKR it would get a solid 2/10 on every single review page. Boring, uninspiring, dull, soulless and empty as fuck. Literally not one memorable scene, not one memorable moment from any actor, not one memorable piece of dialogue or even soundtrack. Just 3+ hours of wasted time
>It didn't flop at all what are you on about. Just because it didn't make a billion doesn't mean it failed.
It had a troubled production, went hugely over budget, got bad reviews, was pulled from theatres early and didn't make a profit.
It's Batman for zoomers
and I fucking loved it
Cope Marvelfag
Not a marveltroon.
My friend recommend me this and I check the ratings like I should and conclude it was a flop.
What site did you use?
IMDB
Dude I watch both from these companies okay
Consensus reviews feel totally different between IMDb, rt and letterboxd
Every time someone tries to deny being a Disney drone you can tell that they are lying
It's a 3/10 and The Batman will never make any real profit due to the reshoots and going over budget.
capeshit is capeshit
Only Marvel and part of Snyderverse are actuall capeshit
is the new doctor stange capeshit? i wanna watch it because raimi
Haven't seen it, saw everything up untill Endgame. After that I just stoped caring about MCU. Only watched falcon and the winter soldier and it was really bad
the last 20 minutes are good
damn.. badass!
se7en out of ten
I liked the inspiration, worked well.
No plot, bad dialogue, no real story. A detective movie written for people with a 75 IQ. What a waste.
For the first half I honestly thought it was trying to be camp like Adam West's Batman. That first scene where he finds the thumb and goes "ohh... for thumb DRIVE!" reminded me of this scene and I could not stop thinking about how stupid the "detective" scenes were until I walked out

it's not that fucking hard to top his shit performance
Surely you jest. Bale played two distinct characters. Pattison only played one.

I love Batfleck. Good batman, very good Wayne.
He was a great Batman in bad movies for me

only historical, fantasy, religious, and mythological movies should be long
Also Reeves made the best blockbuster sequel of the last decade Dawn of the Planet of Apes. The sequel of this movie will be amazing. I believe
Never thought I'd see Zero Year be adapted like this. I liked it.
worst batman movie
