If the Morrison era status quo had never been undone we wouldn't be in this mess but Quesada was a moron who permanently ruined the Avengers, the X-Men and Spider-Man.

That demographic is honestly the worst demographic in existence though. They ruined themselves and are still a 3rd world country plagued by diseases, illiteracy, and savagery. Sold their only people to the white men for literal shit.

They are not against any group who is trying to do that and also they don't need cheap labour scabs because they want to make minimum wage and government basic necessities be Dominated by how much money did business wants to make.

I hope you're right, but the absolute state of Marvel writers in general, and the current X-Men writers in particular makes me think you guys may be giving them too much credit, and coming up with a better story than they thought of.

They certainly haven't earned the benefit of the doubt, and we have Jason Aaron's CaveVengers showing a complete lack of understand of how long ago the first humans were on Earth. The notion that the writer of Marauders misunderstood what Hickman was doing when briefly addressed pre-Apocalypse mutants, and introducing an entire mutant civilization that pre-dates humans does seem at least as possible as this just being a bait and switch story where they're actually time travellers from the future.

This plotline started with a box dating to millions of years ago, but made from a recently discovered material, and engraved with X-Men symbols.

It's obviously a time travel plot.
Also there's a 2099 character in an upcoming Marauders cover.

In the same issue as OP's pic, they said that the mutant civilization vanished and the survivors fled into the future on "temporal lifeboats". This is 100% a time travel story. They even Tempo explain Orlando's vision of time travel, which is the further back you go, the less of an impact you'll have on the timeline. For example, a group of mutants traveling back in time billions of years and starting their own city.

That makes no goddamn sense, cause if that was true then it means Kang the Conquerer or the Time Variance Authority wouldn't be even remotely a threat with how many times they prance about through ancient history

I know. Steve Orlando is moronic. The plot is still stupid, it's just slightly less stupid than OP's pic makes it look.

                Anonymous

It is still super stupid because surviving there would be harsh beyond all measure. A billion years ago, Earth was a crap place to live, like about as bad as Mars was before the terraforming. No plant life, the most advanced life form is a trilobite so no real meat, oxygen levels would be so high as to be downright lethally toxic if not unbreathable, and that's before considering the planet would be going through one of its numerous frozen snowball phases. There's absolutely no way the planet would look like OP's pic, it would be a giant barren wasteland.

That ship has sailed. Moira was depowered and died, and now only exists as a robot that doesn't have the reset powers.

and also as Sinister's save-scumming device/Dropbox to the past

Moira not being an Omega but still capable of rebooting the entire universe is moronic no matter how they attempt to justify it. Especially when you consider how time travel works in Marvel. Attempt to change the past just create a new universe with those changes in place. The future that the time traveler came from would remain. Would had made significantly more sense if Moira was reborn into a near identical universe to her previous universe whenever she dies and is reborn.

    >So why exactly did X-Men writers think it was a good idea to do some Nation of Islam/Hyperborea bullshit with mutants?
The mutants had dealt with so much bullshit over the years that it's the only thing that made sense for them. First it was the sentinels, then it was the mutant cure, then it was Wanda depowering almost all of them, then the purifiers tried to exterminate the four-hundred or survivors, then the inhumans death cloud killed or steriled the few ones that remained.

After all that trauma. The X-Men drinking the Kool-Aid and being just as racist to the humans as the humans were to them was the only thing that made any sort of logical sense to the writers. So of course they'd drink the mutant supremacy religion kool-aid.

It killed one named Mutant and probably less than 3% of mutants at that time and sterilization was only temporary.. All Things Considered mutants probably don't like 50 things most years to demand more long-lasting then the All Things Considered mutants probably don't like 50 things more long lasting we serious than the human Mist was all of them being delivered against mutants ( unlike the Mist unless you count Marvel executives).

Wait, if 'mutants' existed before le bad humanity did, how are they mutants to begin with?

      Anonymous

They don't have anything all to do with IRL mutation or what a real life mutant is. At this point they're basically just a separate race that calls itself 'mutants', like the mutants from Thundercats. And like them, they may as well be actual aliens if they are indeed meant to have been around before humans.
