so you didn't watch the show at all? people have seen other people getting destroyed. in ep 1 you see the body of the little girl dismembered. they killed Father Khatri in front of boyd. Jim saw how a monster ripped in half that guy under the house.
Boyd also picked up the pieces of the body from the fat guy they put in the box in season 1.

Read the scripts from season 1, the scenes they didn’t include or cut basically spell out that the town has been quarantined by a supernatural branch of a government agency after some kind of magic went wrong and opened a rift between earth and some kind of hell dimension
