    Season 2 when?

interesting show but the premise is so incredibly moronic, you'd have to be a troglodyte to consider getting the severance procedure

people would do it in a hearbeat

why? you're still experiencing everything that happens at work, you just keep forgetting it afterwards

        >people would do it in a hearbeat
        only if:
        >gym session (before or after is irrelevant)
        >have the same job as they have
        >can have a nice lunch break (provided by the company)

by the way i'll never do it because it can trap a part of me in "hell" for eternity (season 2 i bet will reveal they can bring back dead people, CP2077 style)

Lol, I would easily do it. I want to escape from my life.

but you're not escaping from it, you're just splitting your life in two. you'll still experience work

          Anonymous

Yes, and isn't this a good solution? You are not only being freed of your shitty life to work in an office, you are making money, getting company housing, benefits (such as restaurant vip cards).

            Anonymous

how are you being freed? it's still *you* at work, you'll spend 8 hours of every day trapped in a different you

              Anonymous

You won't be tormented by your memories and the person you are outside. You will be able to focus entirely on your work, on the the melon given to you by management, on the bonus. It's freedom.

Why would you not want to teleport forward 8 hours a day and never have to "work" again?

look at it from the other perspective, one part of you will be forever trapped at work

You won't be tormented by your memories and the person you are outside. You will be able to focus entirely on your work, on the the melon given to you by management, on the bonus. It's freedom.

          >look at it from the other perspective
No. That's the point of the procedure. It makes it to where you don't have to anymore. I don't think I'd do it but it shouldn't be a stretch to imagine that people would want that.

            Anonymous

anon, you'll be forced to look at it from the other perspective because it's still you in there 8 hours every day. you'll perceive 8 hours as eternity but forget it until the next day you're at work

Lol, office work is very comfy and easy.
There are way more terrible things at life than working in an office for 8 hours without memories of your life outside it.

              >it's still you
No, it isn't. Its a completely isolated consciousness.

                Anonymous

so the fact each consciousness is completely isolated from the other, can be activated/deactivated remotely, and in every shown case, have completely different personalities, didn't indicate to you that the consciousnesses are isolated from each other?

                Anonymous

they say that your memories are separated and deactivated. it doesn't say anything about the actual consciousness unless im misremembering
it's still you despite not having access to those memories. say you're blacked out with drugs and you don't even remember who you are, that's still you

          not my problem, innie

Because I'd still lose 8 hours of my day. I mean, I don't enjoy work either but I still have some thoughts and ideas and occasionally even experiences there that I rather wouldn't forget. And that's aside from the fact that I've literally enslaved a part of myself.

Are you kidding? Coming to work, blinking, and getting out of work the next second? There are thousands that would jump on such gig. You overestimate how much people care about corpo ethics. Of course, if they knew they could turn you off outside of the building, it would be another matter, but they don't advertise it, obviously.

Personally I'd be concerned about some kind of psychological 'bleedover' from doing this. One part of me doesn't have to work, although they still have to get up early and commute which sucks in of itself. Meanwhile the other knows absolutely no life except constant, unending toil with nothing but the occasional coffee break. Wouldn't the alternate me be extremely stressed and unhappy, even harming themselves to try and end their unhappy life? You can't send messages back but you could still cut the same part of your arm in secret every day to send back the message you're unhappy. Having a character notice a growing scar on their arm in the shower every morning, and thus intuiting their 'innie' is unhappy could be an interesting plot point. Anyway, an existence where half of yourself is more or less trapped in hell can't be good for your overall cerebral wellbeing.

This bullshit is only viable if what you do at work is some trivial nonsense that you could pick up immediately with no prior knowledge/memories.

Maybe if you work as some kind of prostitute frickdoll you'd do this but otherwise it's surely the procedure alone is too costly for what they actually do inside.

Of course not, the characters are unreliable narrators, if they are dealing with illegal things, it's the perfect solution.

We don't actually know what they are working with. Take notice that Irving is probably a war criminal.

There's clearly a certain amount of knowledge they keep, they're still able to do normal things, they aren't reverted to a newborn state.
