I avoid this shit like a plague due to Netflix trashing random IPs, but after giving it a chance, I was pretty surprised at how good it was. I was wondering if you guys felt the same way or see this show as nothing special but another bad dent in the series.
It feels kind of aimless
They don't really elaborate on any of the worlds they go to, they just feel like rooms where characters just sit around and wait for sonic in
I guess i got blinded by the nice action sequence in the show. Hopefully season 3 get it togetherI like the story. I guess i have shit taste.
>toned down, de-sexualized Rouge
Pass.
I think there's way too many drawn-out fight scenes of just punching and kicking robots that just last way too long. To me the show feels like 75% fighting, 25% plot. I couuld forgive it if the fight scenes were really cool, but the choreography for the fight scenes isn't really that impressive to me either compared to something like ROTTMNT.
I personally disagree with though, I like that they toned Rouge down from being just big booba titty sex incarnate. She's still sexy, she feels more like an actual character now.
>way too many drawn-out fight scenes
But bro, sonic 2D games are mostly running and platforming with 5 seconds story scenes. Are you saying long action scenes is bad? I welcome the long ass action scenes!
>I like that they toned Rouge down from being just big boob titty sex incarnate
You're everything that's wrong with the world.
>I don't like a single aspect about animation besides what my 15 year old small penis goes erect up 1 inch to
You need to return to reddit, or at least /trash/
Are you trying to imply breast-reduction is an “aspect” of animation?
It doesn’t add or benefit anything to an animation, all it does it subtract from a character design.
Don't treat him badly bro. Everyone in Prime was in there original form while the character he love in personality and design was reduce down. Meaning having no respect of the original creator work. The same situation that happen to Sally Acorn. Don't mind the comment in the picture, since i couldn't find a better example or just plain lazy to find a better one.
Wasn't sally acorn redesign due to sega mandates? As in mobian girls are forced to wear clothes and males can't wear pants
Boobs are bad, mmk.
>Multiple different Rouge's with varying personalities and characters, all cute.
VS
>one-trick THOT
Get filtered, basic taste andy.
when your personality and character is whatever the plot says it is, then “your personality” doesn’t exist
This show dedicated 2 of their episodes to thoroughly tell the view and remind the viewer again and again that all these character's boil down to a single sentence description. period.
>Multiple different Rouge's with varying personalities and characters
That's called not having personality.
This. I don't know why they don't use Blaze for a safe female option.
With Blaze they have to explain the whole Sol Dimension and then justify her being in their dimension.
Just have her come in because the whole thing affected Sol too
It has some of the worst 3d animation I have ever seen in my life. There must be like less than 10 setpieces total in the entire 2 seasons and they’re all completely empty. Season 3 isn’t introducing any new ones but just returning to the old ones again. Season 2 did the fucking same. This shit was disgraceful to the medium as a whole, whichever studio made it ought to be ashamed of themselves
Anon, there's plenty of things to complain about; the CG animation quality is not one of them. The sprite animation that they thankfully dropped, on the other hand...
You’re absolutely fucking retarded. I’d be surprised if you weren’t dribbling onto your keyboard typing this out.
They only bothered even modelling 5 npcs total across the entire series.
What do NPCs have to do with the animation quality? that anon was stating it was good and I agree.
lively fight scenes and very fluid character movement. much much better compared to like the previous show: Sonic Boom
An incredibly important aspect of 3d animation is modelling characters to use. It’s more important than in 2d since in 3d the difficult part is creating assets to use, while moving them around is easy.
The show only made 5 npcs total, and only made 14 sets as seen here
within which to move their characters around in. That’s like if a 2d series only bothered to draw 5 background characters and 14 background stills, then lazily copy pasted them throughout their entire show because they couldn’t be bothered to draw more. It is indescribably lazy.
Pick and choose any show from the current Cinemaphile catalog and a single episode from them will have more backgrounds than the entirety of Sonic Prime’s entire series. A few of them have more drawn backgrounds in the first 2 minutes of their first episode than Prime has in its whole series.
Animation is about movement
When you are modeling you are not animating, so your argument that they didn't have enough NPCs and backgrounds has fuck all to do with animation quality.
genuinely, it sounds as if that homosexual you're replying to just some autist hyperfixating on a slight problem. especially as it's always been common for CGI cartoons to lack models. expecting that for a show like this is fucking retarded
>especially as it's always been common for CGI cartoons to lack models. expecting that for a show like this is fucking retarded
What the fuck are you even talking about you absolute braindead corporate cuckold?
Name a SINGLE modern cgi cartoon, I can show you they will have in a single episode more setpieces than the 14 total Prime has in its entire series. Name ONE.
Sonicfags are simps for their corpo franchise mascot, anon. Please understand, they know nothing about animation but will screech to this shit’s defence because they want everybody to eat the slop

Do you even animate? The choreography and story boarding on this thing is off the scale. Man of Action did it and I never knew they were a fan of classics like Akira Kurosawa's work. The show has problems like story and pacing and useless characters but when it comes to 3d animation, it is not the problem. Its the opposite especially on a series format. I expected the dystopian cyber punk setting to be the only setting but it surprised me when they did organic textures and WATER. Do you know how hard it is to animate water in 3d?
>The choreography and story boarding on this thing is off the scale
It’s 3d animation, jiggering around your charcter models on top of an empty stock background is not impressive, that’s why all porn artists can do the same in blender
>Man of Action did it and I never knew they were a fan of classics like Akira Kurosawa's work
If you’d ever watched an Akira Kurosawa movie you’d probably notice he bothered to film more than 14 shots total across his entire fucking film
>Do you know how hard it is to animate water in 3d?
Gee anon…
Do you know how easy it is when creating a “new” setpiece to just REUSE THE SAME ONE AGAIN but just flood it with a stock ocean? Or reusing the same one and filling it with taller trees? Or reusing the same one but applying a grey filter over it? Animating water effects is neat as an aside to an actual set but it’s lazy and corner-cutting when it is THE ONLY FUCKING FEATURE IN THE ENTIRE FUCKING SCENE.
Notice how when you watch Aquaman they actually bothered to create cgi stuff with their aquatic setting and the entire film doesn’t take place in an empty expanse of empty water.
Because Aquaman wasn’t animated by talentless lazy drooling retards who get away with the most bullshit of indolence thanks to having chemically castrated simps like yourself dicksucking them for a medium they know jackshit about.
>There must be like less than 10 setpieces total in the entire 2 seasons
I’m curious about this most
Green Hill (only 1 setpiece; the entire place)
Prism Cave
Tails’ workshop
New Yolk Street
Nine’s Room
Train Station
Rebellion Tree Room
Egg Fortress Hallway
Egg Fortress Stairway
Egg Fortress HQ
Forest World (only 1 setpiece; the entire place)
Ocean World (only 1 setpiece; the entire place)
Void (only 1 setpiece; the entire place)
Grim (only 1 setpiece; the entire place)
…like, that is every set they made. Total. For the entire series. 1 of them is just water on top of green hill and another is just trees on top of green hill and another is just rocks in space, there’s nothing in any of them.
That is the most profoundly lazy thing I’ve ever heard of, I’m actually curious to know what happened behind the scenes that they got NOTHING done in that entire time. Find out and fire everyone involved.
The South Park guys made their pilot by themselves, just the two of them, using papermation in the 90s. It took them 3 months.
How the fuck did an entire animation studio with years of production time manage to make less backgrounds through the entire show than they did?
My biggest problem with it is that the best part is saved for the start and end of the season. Many forgettable episodes in the middle.
S1 at least introduced new worlds but in S2 we just wasted time between points A and B. The only thing that changed was robo Amy redeeming herself, but that didn't amount to anything either.
I'll give it props for being able to handle conflict and drama better than the IDW comics. It's stuff that fits this cast of silly animals rather than the steven universe level angst from the IDW comics.
I liked it but it sucked the other worlds besides new yoke just weren't good
It's not without faults but I'm enjoying it so far.
Among all Sonic shows and movies, Prime is the one that checks the most boxes of what I want in a Sonic show, but at the same time it doesn't excel in any of them.
>Does it capture the aesthetic and vibe of the games?
Yeah, but the OVA did it better.
>Does it feature a lot of characters from the games?
Yeah, but Sonic X had more.
>Is the plot engaging?
Yeah, but SatAM's plot was better.
>Is it funny?
Yeah, but Sonic Boom and AOSTH were funnier.
>Does it has an epic scale?
Yeah, but the Sonic 2 movie was grander.
Oh hey you've put into words how I feel about it. I am enjoying Prime, and my friend who knows almost nothing about Sonic finds it amusing, but there's that lingering feeling of it needing to push some facet of itself more. I'm glad that kids have it though.
Yeah. It's not mid, but it's just comfortably above mid, it's still a pretty far walk from actually being great.
i am a sonic fan and i drink my own piss
>we have blaze the cat at home
After revisiting that fully animated TMNT film by Imagi I thought, "A Sonic movie by these guys would be pretty fucking neat" And certain aspects of Prime defiantly feel like that but it falters in a lot of spots. I especially don't like Sonic's characterization in this show, he's a happy go lucky dumbass who can't read the room and talks too much and has the wit of Ultimate Spiderman (the animated show) The saving grace is defiantly the action
It's not perfect by any means, but I've been enjoying it and I'm looking forward to the next part.
Ironically I think a fair share of its problems are a direct result of its length: not enough scenarios, not enough unnamed citizens, repetitive at some points, all of those would had been much less criticized had the show been shorter. And, had it been shorter and better received, I think people would complain that it was too short.
In the end I believe a lot of the negatives from the show are a side-effect of being 3d animated.
It's very common for 3d cartoons to reuse their assets into oblivion, if it was 2d it would probably been easier to feature more characters and locations.
>Last 2D show was Sonic X
>Outside of that it's just been shorts
Dang
Shame too since I think Sonic characters look better in 2d then 3d
>It's very common for 3d cartoons to reuse their assets into oblivion
While true that’s really not an excuse. The cheapest 3d cartoons I’ve ever seen are shit like Xavier, Penguins of Madagascar, fuck even Backyardigans and they all blow the absolute dogshit in Sonic Prime out of the water and into oblivion. It is impossible they were that fucking lazy they had to reuse this fucking much. Sonic Prime probably has less backgrounds than Aqua Teen Hunger Force and their whole gimmick is having terrible animation on purpose
They knew.
the bench?
Bench?
I can't decide what I'd prefer
>Cuddling Sails from behind as I gently rail him
>covering my dick in crushed berries and letting Mangey go wild.
They certainly did
Why did they make Sails so zesty? I know he's a pirate but he doesn't have to be a butt pirate
SonTails has way too much food for such a forbidden ship.
Never forget how Sonic 2 ended on them flying into the sunset to the tune of a love song.
Which Sonic 2?
The game
>Sonic show about multiverse-hopping
>doesn't actually visit any alternate Sonic universes, least of all the one where the term "Sonic Prime" originates
Yeah, nah, fuck off.
We already knew that they weren't going to revisit any of the older Sonic medias, and Archie is and always will be dead in the water
I'll just link my old thread since I listed my complaints for the show there
>Shadow, despite being the only character other than Sonic to come from the main world has an extremely minor role in both seasons. It really feels like they didn't plan to use him at all and it was probably some Sega mandate that they had to include him just because they were also including Rouge as a part of the main cast for some reason.
Actually yeah, why is Shadow in the show again?
aS lOnG aS i'M aRoUnD, yOu'Ll A L W A Y S hAvE a WiNgMaN!
Obligatory
What we got ain't bad, but yeah, was hoping for this.
oh my god the sheer autism
What WE wanted was the full SONIC CAST being utilized instead of putting the same 4 characters in different outfits, and then barely interacting with each other.
Sonic Boom was far more interesting than anything Prime offered.
Crazy to think that 20 years ago people were complaining about "Sonic's stupid friends"
It was pushed hard thanks to IGN and Classic purists. Unfortunately SEGA gave in, which caused the meta era of Sonic where basically only Sonic & Tails were used for the past 10 years. It's only just now gotten better with Frontiers & Superstars bringing them back and being playable. Still a long ways to go though to get back to the early 2000s.
Would the lame ass badly animated nothingburger multiverse-but-without-any-alternate-universes schlock we got reaaallly have been better if they added Cream the Rabbit and Espio the Chupacabra?
Yes. More interesting scenarios. Fleshes under utilized characters out more and offers a different perspective on the character. Shipping potential is highlighted. Fans of those characters don't feel left out.
It's not going to turn it into a 10/10 obviously if the writing is still shit, but atleast fans get to see their favorite characters.
>Shipping potential
the only real ship in the series is Sonic and Amy, and they're already there
Of course it will be sonamy, but they have been clearly teasing some crackships in the show even if they don't have the balls to go with them
They have?
see
and also the time sonic carried shadow like a princess, and showed his ass to him
I just wouldn't have done what Prime did.
I appreciate the creators for trying something different instead of just doing the same basic sonic story again but I'd still prefer something more straight forward.
You know I was expecting Shadow to go full ballistic on Sonic next season, but in the teaser they are still working together. That's pretty mature of him.
nah this shit sucks ass. if you praise this crap you're unironically retarded. not even braindead sonic fans are enjoying it much.
