OT trilogy are the only movies I bother watching and even then I haven't watched them in a while because I am sick of star wars being shoved into my face.
I will never get over the hilarity of that mask >JJ introduces it by lazily ripping off Revan from kotor >Kylo takes it off halfway through and immediately looks moronic >mask becomes the most iconic piece of merchandise from TFA and permeates through pop culture >Rian gets mad about that because <insert most moronic reason you can come up with> >writes a scene where Kylo smashes the mask out of anger >Rian figures the mask isn't broken enough so he pushes Driver aside and spends ten minutes smashing it himself off-camera while everyone awkwardly watches (this literally happened and he bragged about it in an interview) >rest of the film, the most iconic piece of merchandise is missing >coincidentally, sales plummet for star wars merchandise >JJ comes back and stitches the mask back together >no one cares anymore
>>Rian figures the mask isn't broken enough so he pushes Driver aside and spends ten minutes smashing it himself off-camera while everyone awkwardly watches (this literally happened and he bragged about it in an interview)
??????
fr what was this guys problem? Btw I liked Looper but House of Knives kinda sucked in my opinion
>>Rian gets mad about that because <insert most moronic reason you can come up with>
a scene where Kylo smashes the mask out of anger
And it was the best scene in the whole otherwise mediocre film, especially when he comes out of the elevator maskless and angry as frick while the First Order troops stare at him in fear/shock.
>tlj >mediocre
Frick off Rian. Your film was fricking aids and killed the entire franchise. Nothing in it was even acceptable, nevermind mediocre, nevermind good. Unironically the worst blockbuster ever made.
Removing the mask was important to help Kylo Ren seem serious and showed him moving from some Vader wanabee to becoming the Supreme Leader of the First Order
Stitching it back together in TRoS, along with stitching back Luke's lightsaber was so embarrassing as it was clear the directors were just pettily bickering back and forth in this big-budget-film
Last Jedi, and it was like that for my whole family too, which is really saying something. Then I picked up Mando S1 because it was pretty great, and then dropped it because I didn't give a shit about it.
Say what you will, I highly anticipate him in Megalopolis.
For me, I kindof transitioned from watching everything they came up with, to being very selective about what I watch. And yeah, that point was probably The Last Jedi.
Force Awakens, I know we all retroactively hated it, but I really enjoyed it at the time, although I just remember it feeling a little too kid-friendly. I wanted more backstory about the planet killer base. Maybe like, the first order is the remnant or an empire star destroyer that stumbled on it whilst fleeing from the new republic. I never watched Rise of Skywalker it looked so epicly bad.
I think they missed such an opportunity with Force Awakens to tie in tonnes of merch. Where was the X-Wing vs Tie Fighter remaster and like, 5 new games on launch? Where were the tie in toys, books, novels, games, so on? Where was the dedicated star wars land?
>Force Awakens, I know we all retroactively hated it, but I really enjoyed it at the time
If you walked out of the force awakens with anything but utter disgust have a nice day
The only nuwars shit that came out and was any good was rouge one and that’s final
>the thing that ended my interest in SW was that TLJ felt like a definitive ending for the series as a whole.
That's almost as depressing an ending as what Disney actually gave considering it ended with the Empire ruling the galaxy, the rebels down to like 20 with the universe specifically not coming to help them, and thanks to Rian's shitty attempt at making a political statement, like every other attempt at writing in general, just trying to fight back is apparently playing into the people who sell to 'Both sides' and have slave children and abuse animals.
It's not quite as depressing since nobody gives a single salty frick about these characters, so the idea they eventually got hunted down and buried isn't going to bring any tears, but it's sad in concept.
SW fans are kinda moronic and Lucas was a lucky mf that managed to assemble a good team, that's my opinion.
The appeal of the og star wars was always the monomyth and the journey of Luke, the lightsabers, the ships, the jedi, the force, the sith, everything else was just window dressing and worldbuilding, when Lucas films started to shift the attention to what 'fans wanted' it became trash immediately, case in point: the prequels.
The appeal of the monomyth is primordial and perennial remove that and no one who takes baths daily will care.
I got a bad feeling when watching Episode VII's trailer. Especially about the bad acting.
When Disney announced it would kill the EU, I was surprised they would be willing to reset one of the biggest franchises and undo decades of stories and characters.
When Mark Hamill confirmed in an interview there wasn't a plan and Disney was just making it up as they went along, I knew it was going to be bad.
When they hired the dude who wrote Looper, I knew the new movies were going to be beyond saving.
And when they went full DEI I knew Star Wars was dead.
As someone who has enjoyed the prequels growing up but wouldn't call myself an actual "fan". I can tell you that the franchise died the moment they decided to ditch cool lightsaber choreographies.
It was very early on in TFA. I don’t remember if it was the very first scene but I think it was. It’s when Poe does the “you talk, I talk” and Kylie freezes a blaster shot in mid air. Very early in the sequel trilogy I had a terrible feeling as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
>opening scene >Kylo stops a blaster bolt with the force >never been seen or done before >never comes up again >never referenced or talked about
le sigh
george lucas needs to buy back star wars and decanonize disney nuwars. Except for the Adam Driver scenes, which were the only good thing about the sequels. What the hell, we need George to decanonize everything from Disney and let's stay until episode 6
PLEASE SHUT THE FRICK UP AND STOP TALKING ABOUT AND CRITICIZING STAR WARS. THEY MIGHT ACTUALLY LISTEN TO YOU AND STOP MAKING THIS DEMORALIZING PROPAGANDA
I realized things were headed for disaster when TLJ actively sabotaged what little originality TFA had.
Until then there were baby steps that could have course corrected. Rogue One and Solo weren't bad. Some of the comics didn't suck (but most did).
By the time ROS happened it was well and truly ogre and the damage was irreparable. some like Filone & Favreau tried their best but you can't polish a turd, specially with Kathleen in charge basically sabotaging the franchise.
Personally I am mad because Disneys ruined all of star wars for me, I cant go back and watch old star wars stuff I thought was cool before. The other worst thing is that felonis feloniverse is now considered to be the good bit of sw, when its really just a mid kids cartoon that is way worse than the original lore it replaces, so there really is nothing left of SW.
This is a good reminder of why its important to be a man and not a giant fricking pussy moron like george lucas, selling his lifes work to post menopause hags and letting feloni do whatever he wants with existing lore
>Personally I am mad because Disneys ruined all of star wars for me
I felt that way for years, but Disney kept fricking up so bad that their shit became completely separated from the OT and PT, despite the appearance of original actors in ST. Now I can enjoy the OT again.
i checked out after TLJ and have never seen Ep9 but i gave Mando a shot but dropped it after they fired the fat italian chick for daring to call out the culture of virulent hatred in the entertainment industry towards anyone who isn't a card carrying Biden voter. haven't seen anything SW related since and i never will. i won't even touch the games anymore because they're shoehorning more and more sequel era shit into the games or making them just as insufferably woke (Debra Wilson kicking Darth Vader's ass with the power of black woman magic... yeah frick off)
as far as i'm concerned the franchise died after the Disney buyout, none of it is canon
This is a major production. Like the best capitalism has to offer and it’s still so shit. You can tell they’re trying very hard to pander to certain people but it’s not enough to push political agendas when the people who enjoy nerdy shit don’t watch these shows for those reasons. Also it’s weird how people make it seem like its conspiracy that these shows are purposely “woke” when the people making them are up front about it all the time
I know he’s a meme and a douche but Boyega’s character had the most potential of the three leads and it sucks he got reduced to a pointless romance subplot and comic relief
>Introduced as protagonist >Turned into a literal minstrel character that has his agency taken from him multiple times >Ends the trilogy getting keked twice
Humiliation ritual
Finn's character was handled terribly from the word go and would have been regardless of his race. It's been said before, but the idea of a stormtrooper deserting had so much potential and they just threw it away.
Anyone who thinks TLJ ruined everything and that TFA is just a middling rehash at best doesn’t get it.
TFA provided an incredibly weak foundation for the rest of the ST to the point where a lot of the flaws of the other 2 films stem from TFA’s weak start.
I wasn't hugely invested in it in the first place, Star Wars was just very accessible and lent itself to some pretty great video games. After Disney took over I saw Force Awakens, found it watchable but derivative, narratively reliant on its follow-up. The Last Jedi, then, was unpleasant enough that I ducked out and never saw Rise of Skywalker, or anything else that followed. The vidya haven't grabbed me post-KOTOR2/JKA, either.
There's really nothing anyone can do to "bring me back" as a paying customer. The most emotion I feel for the franchise is a sort of slight revulsion, when it used to be indifference. Disney would have to elevate it to a whole new level creatively for me to care enough, and I highly doubt they have the talent or inclination to go even a tenth of that distance. I don't think such a force exists anywhere right now in our modern world's many media sectors.
For me it was TLJ but I was shaky coming off of The Force Awakens. So much of the world is absent. We know nothing about what the First Order was and how it formed, why there was a Resistance AND the new Republic, and apparently in under 60 years the Jedi, a group of superpower using warriors that had led the Galaxy in war and were also an excuse for Palpatine to take power & form the Empire, were a myth for both Rey and Finn (Stormtrooper btw).
In time people probably look at Star Wars like we do now with Flash Gordon, as a fantasy series that was quite popular but long out of fashion.
Star Wars died when ~~*Disney*~~ bought it and anounced the classic American space opera would star a bong b***h and a bong Black. The OT was great, the PT was meh, and everything after has been, and will continue to be, ignored.
Even pre-Internet Star Wars was known globally and after it's advent that number exploded even more so it makes since that even at the state it is in currently there will always be a lot of posts about it.
I've been on and off with Star Wars.
I stopped watching the movies after Attack of the Clones. I didn't dislike the prequels, I just never got around to watching the third movie for some reason.
I played some of the vidya.
Never read any books or comics.
Never saw any of the cartoons.
Of the shows I've only watched The Mandalorian because that became a water cooler show at my job. I liked season 1, I endured season 2 and gave up on it in the middle of season 3.
As soon as I saw the TFA trailer I knew they'd fricked it up
The lighting was wrong, the palettes were wrong, the camera work was wrong, the fact that they placed so much emphasis on HEY LOOK MILLENNIUM FALCON AND TIE FIGHTERS- it wasn't Star Wars, it was a Hollywood movie pretending to be Star Wars.
I mostly just want cool lightsaber fights. I will take either slow, methodical sword fights or lots of flips and spinning shit. Put the moral shit in the books no one but nerds reads. Why is this so hard to do? Rogue One and TFA had some, but that is about it. How hard is it to make action set pieces for 12-15 year old boys?
Stopped caring after Revenge of the Sith. I was in HS at that point and had outgrown Star Wars. I only saw it for completion sake and thought it was ok at best. Never watched the gay cartoon and when I heard Disney had bought them out I just lol'd because I have hated Disney since I was a kid and knew it would be shit. Time has proven me right.
What possible reason could a slave woman have to lie about getting fricked and making a baby? How would she be able to fool a Jedi with such a lie? For WHO is she lying? What's her goal? Endgame? What, is Watto going to do something about it now he hasn't done in 10 years?

I'm not going to go around in circles with you speculating. I'm just saying if the options are parthenogenesis or that she's lying, it's 100% not parthenogenesis.
>. We've told so many time that Sheev Palpatine can't be trusted.
Well good thing he's not the one saying it and in no pre-disney story did he say anything about it?
I would if that was the prophecy about the force creating a child, which is what everyone else besides Sheev said, and Sheev is the only one who implied someone might be able to manipulate midchlorians to make something. Of course, as anon helpfully pointed out, we can't trust Sheev as opposed to the mother who has no reason to lie, the jedi who have no reason to make up such a prophecy, and the actual end result of said prophecy coming to fruition.
Saying "We can't trust this guy so believe him instead of everything else" is a strange trick.
>Why are Star Wars video games so much better than cinematic Star Wars?
Because the universe is really cool, but the Skywalker shit and focus on the Jedi/Sith shenanigans ruins it.
>what are your opinions?
I completely gave up after Last Jedi. Disney Wars since then looks like absolute shit so I'm happy I avoided it, my sympathies to any anons who stuck with the series and were hoping it would get better.
I thought TFA was garbage and TLJ was worse. I loved Rogue One, Andor, Clone Wars season 7, Mandalorian season 1 and 2, and the Jedi Survivor games a lot, but they don't outweigh how horrendous the sequels were. I expected nothing from the Acolyte, so I wasn't disappointed. I enjoy the good bits from Canon and legends, disregard the rest as noncanon
I really wanted to like the Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fett. I was hopeful that as made for streaming series with western themes they wouldn't be subject to the same homosexual pandering and that Disney might actually be trying to let the straight male audience back in. I could forgive the stronk wamen shit, even the Baby Yoda shit, but the le diverse and inclusive neon scooter gang was the red fricking line for me. I even tried Obi-Wan Kenobi hoping Vader could save it but it was just some fricking nonce chasing an overpowered five-year-old ten-year-old around in circles and weirdly and aggressively yelling at her. Not sure who this shit was for but it definitely wasn't me.
I never really cared to begin with, I liked the original trilogy, jedi is good the other two kinda boring.
as far as I can understand people treat star wars as a religion with the OT being the bible, so it's impossible to make something that doesn't hurt their feelings and is not in line would what they want.
Rogue one is the best star wars media without a question. OG trilogy is timeless and the prequels for nostalgic reasons. Everything else either ruins the IP or is big budget fanfiction. Modern media is bad on purpose.
>Gave them a 2nd chance after Last Jedi because maybe they'd learn their lesson >Give them a mulligan for ROSW because realistically there was no good way to follow up TLJ >Then Book of Booba was god awful clown shit >Then they sidelined Mando in his own show and made it all about stronk wamen >Then they made the Obi Wan Kenobi show all about a sassy black woman who never gets whats coming to her >Then they start releasing that that requires you to have watched hundreds of hours of cartoons to understand
Basically there were a lot of different moments and if I was smart I would have cut bait after Last Jedi.
With the benefit of retrospect, it was doomed from the start but for me what made me finally give up was Book of Boba. it was just solid proof that they learned absolutely nothing from The Last Jedi and that its spitting in the face of the fans was not an accident. It's like they purposely thought up of the lamest possible shit they could for a Boba Fett series for the sole purpose of pissing off the nerds who have been fantasizing about a Boba Fett movie for decades.
As soon as I heard they abandoned the EU I checked out. Never watched the sequel films and never will. Not interested in the tv shows either except for the Clone Wars spinoffs, which have been good but low stakes.
I'm a zoomie so I watched them prequels first then OT when I was a child, exactly how George intended. I liked all six of them.
I was a teenager when the sequels dropped. I rewatched the first six and the prequels did not hold up but the OT did, then the sequels were appallingly bad. I haven't watched anything past TLJ and don't intend to.
I think the exact moment I gave up was the scene where Poe phones Hux and there's this godawful cringeworthy dialogue where Hux keeps asking if he can hear him.
Imagine being so fricking low IQ you still discuss star wars because you want to let shills and bots know how made you are about it, and how you would fix it. Jesus fricking christ people are moronic.
I beat these posers. I checked out the moment the acquisition happened and they tossed the expanded universe into the bin in its entirety.
Not even a "there's this continuity and then there's ours and both will exist" thing just straight up shitcanned.
The moment I heard that I strongly suspected the motives behind it were to stripmine all the good ideas from it to make shitty new versions. I had no idea how bad it'd get at the time though (thrawn's clone army are going to be zombies in disney continuity. fricking kek).
I did give them a chance with the first two movies but tlj was the conclusive "yep you were right, disney have killed the franchise" confirmation.
>"yep you were right, disney have killed the franchise"
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Disney Star Wars will be taught about in Business Schools as a case study in mismanagement of an IP. Their colossal butchering of what could have been a 100-billion-dollar money printer is on par with Target fricking up their attempt to set up stores in Canada.
OT trilogy are the only movies I bother watching and even then I haven't watched them in a while because I am sick of star wars being shoved into my face.
When Disney bought it, K.K. and Jar Jar immediately pronounced their woke agenda. The merchandise literally died.
I stopped caring when they announced that he nu trilogy had a ''female'' protagonist.
Noped out when Lucas sold out, knew exactly where this was going.
Daisy a cute!
PT/OT/Mando S1-2

I miss all the good girl characters Kennedy deleted and haven't bothered to go back since.
how can a female character be good if she's not a brunette white woman who is better than [male legacy character]?
Rey is really hot in the top left
Nah
It’s insane that someone can do that much permanent brand damage and not lose their job.

That's nauseating. It's one thing to know they do it... it's another to actually see it.
These are bots, not real people. It's trivial as frick to make bots on Twitter.
I was out at the Force Awakens trailers. Looked like shit and I was right. I have enjoyed a couple of post Disney SW but it was dead on arrival.
I'm like 90's sure that the people complaining about Starwars being dead don't actually know anything.
What’s 90’s sure? Were people more sure back then?
90%. The whole Ankin was created by the force story is a bullshit. We've told so many time that Sheev Palpatine can't be trusted.
Yeah but he never said that he did make Anakin. Shmi Skywalker said that there was no father but other than that it's only rumors.
>All the evidence of his miraculous virgin birth is just his mom saying so
Yeah that probably didn't happen.
Really because no one else knows the story of darth plagueis. Why don't you post the scene where it was someone else saying it.
Saying "We can't trust this guy so believe him instead of everything else" is a strange trick.
such a obvious false flag it can be seen from space
Why are Star Wars video games so much better than cinematic Star Wars? What's the issue?
>Why are Star Wars video games so much better than cinematic Star Wars?
Because the universe is really cool, but the Skywalker shit and focus on the Jedi/Sith shenanigans ruins it.
OT/PT/Mando S1-2/Andor/Rogue One/Solo, as much of a hack Ron howard is Sam witwer schooled him on the lore
>what are your opinions?
5 > 4 > 6 > 1
rest are dogshit
for me it was ewoks
anything after R2 and 3PO leave the blockade runner is shit
More like Star Bores
I never really cared to begin with, I liked the original trilogy, jedi is good the other two kinda boring.
as far as I can understand people treat star wars as a religion with the OT being the bible, so it's impossible to make something that doesn't hurt their feelings and is not in line would what they want.
it's just too many people to please
Star Wars went to shit with Jedi Returns, everything afterwards just got worse and worse
There hasn't been a good Star Wars movie since the original trilogy. Prequels only seem good because of how bad the last movies have been
Rogue one is the best star wars media without a question. OG trilogy is timeless and the prequels for nostalgic reasons. Everything else either ruins the IP or is big budget fanfiction. Modern media is bad on purpose.
i only watched the first one, the one called star wars, i wouldn't watch any later ones now because they're children's films and i'm not a child
OT is the only Star Wars that matters. Prequelgays are morons and aren't relevant.
>Gave them a 2nd chance after Last Jedi because maybe they'd learn their lesson
>Give them a mulligan for ROSW because realistically there was no good way to follow up TLJ
>Then Book of Booba was god awful clown shit
>Then they sidelined Mando in his own show and made it all about stronk wamen
>Then they made the Obi Wan Kenobi show all about a sassy black woman who never gets whats coming to her
>Then they start releasing that that requires you to have watched hundreds of hours of cartoons to understand
I am sick as a motherfricker because I have seen every Star Wars thing once. I usually just find some thing here or there to enjoy.
I watched Boba Fett and Kenobi on the Patterson Cut and so they weren't as bad. Patterson Cut of Boba was so slow paced.
I never watch the cartoons. I have not seen anything to give me hope in Acolyte.
