Why do people are so attached to a franchise that became a full toy commercial by the third movie?
People who insist this franchise is special should have their head check, it became irredemable trash the moment Yoda was introduced.
If I remember right, they didn't have full rights to ANH for a long time, but they had everything after it locked because they used the rights as their bargaining chip to make ESB/ROTJ
It was visually distinct and set the standards for the "used future" art style used in films like Alien that has become nearly ubiquitous. Even some of Star Trek, which is typically clean, started to make use of it to a degree such as in DS9 and the interior of Borg and Klingon ships.
The Jedi were the first successful integration of Arthurian-esqu knights and fantasy sorcerors into a "sci-fi" setting on the big screen. They're very visually appealing.
In short, it has strong visuals and concepts, but a poor storyline and characterizations. The former is enough to keep interest alive.
TLJ should have ended with Snoke abandoning Kylo go take on Rey as his student and Kylo and Luke making amends with Luke realizing he can’t just hide forever. Couldn’t be any worse than the shit we ended up with. At least Palpatine wouldn’t have had to *genuine annoyed sigh* somehow return
This sounds good, some version of Rey and Kylo taking each other's places would've blown people's minds, been fresh and awesome. And commit to it with Rey dying dark but sympathetic. Subverting expectations can be powerful and worth exploring as long as the idea is good, not "what if we dramatically changed an already iconic established character."

Disney would never allow this because Rey, as their star wars "princess" always has to win at the end of every movie. It's why she beat Kylo Ren twice before the end of her arc. It's also why the sequels are so underwhelming. Imagine if Luke beat Darth Vader in episode IV
I wanted her to get captured by General Hux and fall in love and they start an empire that lasts one thousand years so we don't have to always see Skywalkers.
It would have been better but still dogshit.
There isn't a single character or plot point that can be salvaged from the nu trilogy, even the actors are crap.
People constantly shat on Anakin in the prelogy but he had 10 times more density than Rey, Kylo and all the random homosexuals around them.
Disney killed the brand with these dogshit movies ironically. SW used to be a sacres cow in pop cultur and now it's scorned by millenials/gen X while zoomers don't even care about it.
Also, Snoke should have been Plagueis who was hiding out until Palpatine got killed, then re-appeared after ROTJ and wormed his way into Luke's Jedi Academy and turned several of his students including Kylo and the Knights of Ren to the dark side.
Disney was afraid that Lucas would sue them for using any EU material. That's why any sort of Plagueis cameo shit was completely out of the question for them.
There's plenty of classic Stormtrooper merch. Lucas just gets a cut of the pie for them. The new shit is all for Disney.

Disney doesn't want to share. That's why they tried to kill off the old cast as soon as possible. You'll see. Once the NDAs expire Mark Hamill and Rian Johnson will be able to speak their minds on the issue.
The fuck you on about? Merchandise was included when disney bought the rights. Why would they own everything star wars except merchandise? If disney doesnt own it, who holds the rights?
I thought that maybe Rey was going to be created by Luke's severed hand which is why Anakin's saber gave her a vision and gave the orange female Yoda knockoff a reason to be secretive about it
That would have been cool because the scene where she sees multiples of her in the mirror instead of her parents was telling me "where else have I seen multiples of the same person? Fucking CLONES. SHES A CLONE OF A JEDI"
No it would have been better if Leia would have been the Dark Side empress ruling with her son Kylo.
Luke cannot fight his own sister so he teaches Rey who the turns Kylo to the light side. Then Kylo kills his own mother
This is the best idea I've read so far. It makes sense on multiple levels. Since Lea is strong in the force but never trained she would easily fall to the dark side after gaining so much power and influence after the fall of the empire. It would then make sense why Luke would run away and hide, same for Han, because he watched his sister fall and destroy his academy with her son. Have the first movie be about him finding Rey on Jakuu and searching out Han and Chewie to convince him what must be done about Lea.

Someone build off of this kino idea into something that hands the baton to the new generation.
> The trilogy plays out as it does > Rey dies fighting palpatine > Kylo fails to revive her > He goes into hiding (another Ben in exile) > The trilogy ends with him deciding to spend the rest of his life making up for his past > A shit trilogy made slightly less shit
I was one of the few who actively liked the direction Rian Johnson was pushing the second movie. I would've loved the third to have dismantled the whole good/dark side shit and gone full-on grey Jedi. It would've made sense that Kylo and Rey would destroy the divide with their force-link.
We'll never know but Rey becoming True Grey in the original Episode 9 is a million times the idea as anything in the abysmal slop that got made in it's place
>who actively liked the direction Rian Johnson was pushing the second movie
You liked the constant plot-holes and nonstop b8&switches where they backtracked everything they did/said multiple times in a row for the sake of trying to be subversive? You liked seeing Luke reduced to a pathetic old man who exiled himself for trying to murder his nephew? You liked Rey becoming an even bigger Mary-Sue?
It’s the same fucking guy. Thread after thread. Year after year. He’s in every tangential SW thread dropping 20+ posts about how awesome TLJ was. It never ends. He’s obsessed
It would have been complete dogshit and the equivalent of the "democracy ending" for GoT.
Star Wars is supposed to be a space opera with archetypes and tragedy, not your shitty fan fiction.
TLJ is just Kotor 2 but made by someone who hates and doesn't understand Star Wars. Rian wasn't critiquing the workings of the universe, he was criticizing the expectations of the audience.
You guys give Rian Johnson waaaayyy too much credit. The guy is a hack writer that came close to an inkling of an interesting idea, but he's too far up his own ass to execute it properly.
if she had been on the dark side (maybe a knight of ren) but was given false memories and put on jakku, that would explain why she is an expert pilot, proficient with the force and knows how to use a lightsabre
the knights of ren fucking sucked. they could have done so much more with that. Imagine if kylos last name was williams then they would have been the knights of williams. Just shallow shitty worldbuilding that your imagination had so much to look forward to only to be let down at every turn.
>Of course, TLJ should have had them switch sides. But Disney is too afraid to give women flaws.
This. This was back when the easily brainwashed religious fanatics in the woke cult felt even giving a women a slight human flaw was “literal Hitlerism.”
It’s terrifying how quickly people fall for nonsense narratives.
Should've ended the fixation on light versus dark. The skywalker movies played that out well and were supposed to bring "balance" to the force. The new beginning of powerful force wielders who have zero people to teach them would be more interesting. Basically defend the rules and structure people complained about with the previous orders by showing how hard it is to stay on the right course when you're just winging it.
balance is the light side, anon. balance is light, darkness is corruption.
That aside, that's a classic wrong approach. Sith functioning in a certain way [passion, desire, lust for power and other stuff] and jedi functioning in a certain other way [emotional detachment, tranquility, letting go of desire] is a good thing. A thing that should be preserved. Why? because it binds characters into certain blocks. Jedi are like this, sith are like that. It makes for solid worldbuilding, it makes a universe that functions in a distinct, specific way, different than our own. It makes it feel like its own thing with its own specific mythology and rules.
if you take away from that and make force wielding and heroism/villainhood generic, then you end up with our own. If you can be the good guy in star wars, but still act however you want, like a generic hero from any movie, then there's nothing distinct about it.
I like that in star wars, if you want to be a force wielder and a good guy, you're going to have some behavioral standards, or no dice.
If anyone can be anything, then no one is cool.
I feel that having one character that does this in a very specific way [fury/rage, but very focused and tranquil], while keeping him AS A SIDE CHARACTER AND NOT A PROTAGONIST might add for an interesting little unique gem in a big world, without feeling too much like a donut steel oc.
So I'm fine with it.
Episode 9 should have been Leia and Luke battling Rey and Kylo at Darth Plagueis’ tomb and when Darth Plagueis rises - this forces the 4 of them to team up against Plagueis…(while realizing this has been his plan all along)
George wanted her in the sequels. She was going to be the person that literally seduced Kylo to the dark side on his first solo mission for Luke's Jedi order.
theyd be good if they had actual writers with coherent thruline and plot across the three films instead of each director told to do whatever the fuck they want and creating based on focus groups and trailer shots.
the subtext seemed very obvious that rey was a revan analogue and that kylo was doubting the dark side due to conscious and lack of power from it (lack of belief). They seemed like they were going to swap roles, rey's mary sueness being explained by the revan reveal then probably kills niggbacca and joins smog snog slope w/e and kylo rejoins luke
For starters, the saber looks fucking heavy. You can tell the weight distribution by the way she drops the top half when the bottom half swings down. It's clearly one big metal pole and not meant to be swung and certainly removes the notion of the 'blades' being made of light.
But also, she just looks disengaged. It looks like someone put a dark robe over her, told her where to stand, and said >okay look into the distance and when i say 'now' press the release button
I kinda think that button is in her other hand as well. Watch it as the saber opens.
its unironically for the best Disney killed this franchise
the money they would have earned if it was successful would only be used to make the world even a shittier place
these megacorps literally only want to make you a slave
It could've been an interesting dynamic, but it would've needed to be set-up from the outset to work and as with anything there are numerous ways it could have also turned out awful.
Yes but they weren't telling a continuation to the story of Star Wars, they were virtue signalling and creating an agenda. Continuing the Star Wars story would completely make sense for a jedi-in-training to turn evil, but the ST is basically it's own story.
The Sequels sucked. But Rey Palpatine is biggest reason why they sucked. Her going from homeless squatter to intergalactic master in 15 hours was pathetic and actually pretty humiliating towards women when you think about it
Bending the rules to make things easier for someone is the surest sign that you consider them weak and pathetic
unironically yes. the redemption arc of Kylo juxtaposed with a tragedy arc for Rey would have been amazing, but there's no way they'd ever be competent enough to pull it off
None of these characters should be allowed to exist and anyone that tries to make rhyme or reason out of them or current so called existence in the "canon" is a full blow Yidsney homosexual tranny israelite piece of shit choking on nagger Boo Bradley dick. Every copy and print and stock of the sequel trilogy should be thrown into a burning pit that burns within the base of every homosexual ass Cinderella Castle, and may the name of disney never be uttered again.
she should have gone to the nude side amirite??
correct
Give it a couple of years
It would have been better had they not been made.
Yeah but It would have to be Finn vs Rey and Kylo
That might have been good
Finn’s story should have been storm trooper rebellion. This was his perfect arc and again, Disney fucked it up
Why do people are so attached to a franchise that became a full toy commercial by the third movie?
People who insist this franchise is special should have their head check, it became irredemable trash the moment Yoda was introduced.
>t. Has never watched an old Kung fu movie
Because it was an interesting concept and then some of the games, books and comics also did interesting things with the concept
Ackshually Lucasfilms didn’t have the rights to the toy revenue until episode 1.
Not true. At all. They were making merchandising deals as far back as ANH
If I remember right, they didn't have full rights to ANH for a long time, but they had everything after it locked because they used the rights as their bargaining chip to make ESB/ROTJ
I like the crazy aliens with cool designs. Simple as.
It was visually distinct and set the standards for the "used future" art style used in films like Alien that has become nearly ubiquitous. Even some of Star Trek, which is typically clean, started to make use of it to a degree such as in DS9 and the interior of Borg and Klingon ships.

Clone Palpatine was such a dumb idea.
It should obviously have been robot Palpatine from the start.
now that would've been cool, a truly sapient and independent AI, "breaking their chains", and putting R2 against the Republic
I wanted her to get captured by General Hux and fall in love and they start an empire that lasts one thousand years so we don't have to always see Skywalkers.
How full are we talking here? Drinking dark side from every orifice?
The Nu Trilogy could have been saved maybe if they made Rey go Darkside, then Luke has to kill her and Kylo in RoS. Could have been badass
Disney would never allow their heroine to be bad. Their brand trumps story/lore considerations. It's why the sequels were so fucking bland
Yeah. She's literally a disney princess.
If they had any balls they would. Imagine what could have been if they made Luke a badass instead of cucked drinking green titty milk
It would have been better but still dogshit.
There isn't a single character or plot point that can be salvaged from the nu trilogy, even the actors are crap.

Evil Rey was so hot for like fifteen seconds
Yes. Also I would be much more aroused.
please tell me there's more to this picture
nta but it looks AI-generated
•Rey should have been Lukes daughter or Luke should have known the parents of Rey
•Knights of Ren should have been in the second movie as the bad guys
•somehow... Palatine should have NOT returned
•Phasma should have had a bigger role
•Disney artists should have been more creative with the First Order mechs, the designs are just pathetically bad. First Order troopers look nice tho
Disney OWNS all of the EU material.
Not the merchandising for it. Thus why they made slight modifications to all storm trooper outfits and lightsabers

Ideally she goes to the dark side, kills the nagger and hooks up with Darth israelite then a white Chad Jedi saves her and makes her his queen.
The most shocking thing in Hollywood is that Kylo Ren isn't israeli at all.
No, because the creators still hate you. Nothing about this shitilogy gets fixed until you fix that.
What could have been..
Dude what if Rey stopped giving a fuck and just started fucking naggers?
shed get aids and herpes?
>space AIDS
She would never have gone evil but Duel of the Fates had the right idea with her bringing balance to The Force
Duel of the Fates didn't have any "right ideas."
Objectively wrong.
It was shit on every level.
It would have made it at least a little bit interesting.
No, they even made a "fleet arrives" scene lame and retarded. They made the Emperor suck. They'd manage to make dark side Rey shit too.
maybe but that doesn't fit her character
her character is to one up the men in Star Wars
No it would have been better if Leia would have been the Dark Side empress ruling with her son Kylo.

Unironically Carry Fisher would have loved to play that role.
yes

That was the plan before Abrams fucked it all up
Agreed, the eighth episode, despite its shortcomings, is amazing. Lots of cool ideas. We needed one director and one script, not this mess.
>who actively liked the direction Rian Johnson was pushing the second movie
You liked the constant plot-holes and nonstop b8&switches where they backtracked everything they did/said multiple times in a row for the sake of trying to be subversive? Fan-fiction.

Correct.

Society owes me a dark side waifu played by Debicki
good casting
Yes
Ha ha, could you imagine
she'd kill you
I know
George wanted her in the sequels. She was going to be the person that literally seduced Kylo to the dark side on his first solo mission for Luke's Jedi order.
Would have been better if she had gotten those sweaty, smelly boots off
theyd be good if they had actual writers with coherent thruline and plot across the three films instead of each director told to do whatever the fuck they want and creating based on focus groups and trailer shots.
Yes.She had to take his hand. Destroy the order and the rebels. and sit on the Dark Throne of the Sith together.
Pic related would have saved the trilogy. But Disney has no balls

Yes.
TFA would've been retroacively great. It wouldn't fix TLJ though.
Rey destroyed Star Wars. There is no going back
>Lacked emotion in her performance
Isn't that the directors' fault for not directing the actors?
She should have been bottomless.
>666
Um…..

This post glows in the dark. Go do your “my fellow kids” shit someplace else.
How does it glow? Do you like the sequel trilogy, fag? I think you should read the post again, fag.
