I've never played Starcraft and only know a little about it. So the question that comes to my mind is, to what extent is it basically Aliens vs Predator?
Not very, Protoss are nothing like Predators and Zerg are kind of Aliens but not really.
Zerg are primarily a ripoff of Tyranids from WH40K.
True. They are also better designed than Tyranids in every way and are allowed to influence the story instead of being eternal jobbers.
SC has a developing plot and interesting characters. WH40K is essentially a static universe.
SC has the Star Wars problem where the entire universe is centered around a handful of characters
>fly through space inside big overlords
Nice design bro.
Is there a problem?
It wouldn't make sense for them to fly through space inside small overlords, now would it?
sometimes I do like british humor
Black person zerg have zero fricking thought put into their design or lore
>instead of being eternal jobbers
In the fluff the Tyranids are presented as the biggest threat the galaxy faces and have only just begun to move into occupied space with the hive fleet tendrils already closing in from multiple points
This is what Tyranids looked like before StarCraft.
This is from Brood War.
And this is what Tyranids look like today.
doesn't look much like
does look a lot like a hydra though
The point wasn't that nu-Nids are a straight ripoff of Zerg, it's that StarCraft was the impetus for Nids to change from weird bug people into vicious alien monsters. Same way that before WarCraft, orcs in D&D, WHFB, Tolkien illustrations and such were all stocky brown or orange pig-men, and after WarCraft they all became enormous green gigahomies.
Warhammer orcs always looked like that, Warcraft copied the Warhammer style orcs
Now post a picture of the 2nd edition carnifex from before starcraft came out
Here's the second edition codex cover art from before SC (it's even got a Carnifex on it)
And here's the third edition cover art from after SC.
Cool, but that doesn't change the link I posted, you do know there are different carnifex builds don't you? The screamer killer variety is even on the front cover too, on the left.
https://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2088-.html
Still looks like a weird bug-person. Obviously the ultralisk is loosely based on the carnifex the same way SC marines are based on 40K SM, but before SC, Nids were bipedal and upright and after SC, they were hunched over and animal-like.
Here's a Tyranid carnifex pre starcraft
https://www.frontlinegaming.org/2019/02/24/tyranids-codex-review-heavy-support-screamer-killers/?amp=1
The Zerg are like a cross between the borg and the bugs from Starship troopers.
The Humans are a cross between the American South and space Marines
The protoss are a cross between Predators, Jedi and the Membari from Babylon 5.
>space Marines
they have nothing in common with space marines except a unit in power armor
Starcraft was originally envisaged as a 40k game, but Blizzard and Games Workshop has a falling out. SC marines were derived from 40k Space Marines.
and 40k space marines were derived from the novel starship troopers
Did starship troopers have 8 foot tall surgically enhanced super humans?
nah, starship troopers had way more overpowered soldiers
There to this fricking day, has never been any fricking evidence to substantiate that fricking rumor
>The Humans are a cross between the American South and space Marines
That's The Confederacy which you quickly leave because Mengsk is a dick who abandons Kerrigan.
>dick who abandons Kerrigan.
why did he even do that?
She was asking too many questions. Plus she assassinated his dad, appearantly.
>The Zerg are like a cross between the borg and the bugs from Starship troopers
No, they were literally just Tyranids
Zerg are a flesh hivemind that seeks total primordial reconstruction of all living beings.
Humans are Confederate Nazis (and that's a good thing)
Protoss are the advanced, and spiritual, progenitors. Also strong as frick
Their different playstyles really add character to each of their empires
discount W40K due to lost rights
>discount W40K
Blizzard's ripoff writing was always better than Warhammer
No it isn't blizzard nerd
Nah, he's right.
Maybe back in the day. 40k currently mogs them to bolivian.
Nice one tabletop nerd. Nobody cares about Amy of the WH shit, 40k or otherwise. "Yeahhhh muh space marines can shit nukes and are 15 feet tall yeahhhh"
Space Marines are 7-8 feet tall. The Emperor us 15 feet tall but that may just be a psychic projection. Also frick you I love 40k. All my homies love 40k.
And it ended up being better.
Wahas are going to seethe over StarCraft popularity till the end of times, I swear.
>anons discover all scifi series use the same template
>humans/advanced aliens/monster aliens/ancient aliens
>Terrans/Protoss/Zerg/Xel Naga
>UNSC/Covenant/Flood/Forerunner
>Colonial Marines/Predators/Xenomorphs/Engineers
>Space Marines/T'au/Tyranids/Necrons
>UAC/Night Sentinels/Demons/Maykrs
There's probs more that do this I can't think of off the top of my head or don't know. Mass Effect? I dunno.
>Space Marines/T'au/Tyranids/Necrons
at least use eldar ffs
>Systems Alliance/Asari/Rachni/Reapers
>Earth Alliance/Minbari/Drakh/Vorlons
>Peacekeepers/Nebari/Scarrans/Ancients
>Humans/Asgard/Wraith/Lanteans
>Systems Commonwealth/Pyrians/Magog/Vedran
Doesn't work for star trek.
>Federation/Dominion/Borg/Progenitors
>the good guys are blue
>the bad guys are red
>the undead is purple
>the elves are green
Battletech proves otherwise
Inner sphere/clan/your least favorite faction/star league
Nothing. Perhaps some single scene with a Zerg and some civilian Terrans could be similar, but that's it.
It's more about conquest, polítics and honor.
not at a-...
uh...
hm
you know what? this predates AvP so fuuuuuuck you
> what extent is it basically Aliens vs Predator
It's not, it's a rip off of Warhammer 40k
which is a rip off of star ship troopers (novel). if you want to chase who the "rip off" is warhammer is derivative as frick and had almost zero original ideas
No, they only ripped off the concept of power armour
no they ripped off pretty much everything that's in star ship troopers and then just threw even more stuff on top of it
Wrong
it's true, read Starship Troopers and you'll see. This is a real suggestion BTFO, if you're a legitimate 40k fanboy then you will unironically love starship troopers since it's the source of 90% of it
>since it's the source of 90% of it
Holy shit you're moronic
I'm right, and you would enjoy starship troopers
>I've never played Starcraft
It's old, so it's cheap, but it's still a lot of fun. If you get into a rut of boredom, give it a go.
The Zerg are basically Aliens. In fact in the Starcraft demo Zerg are named Xenomorphs. And theres Alien references all over the game in what the units say. Theres a sign saying "welcome to Mar Sara shake and bake colony" or something like that.
These anons are moronic:
>The Zerg are basically Aliens. In fact in the Starcraft demo Zerg are named Xenomorphs.
Zenomorph are just means alien form. The zerg are not like "Alien Zenomorph". The Aliens are more or less a singular species of insect like individuals. The zerg are parasites that assimilate and manipulate the DNA of host creatures.
The zerg are literally a knockoff of the Tyranids, the game started out as a Warhammer 40k game but they lost the licence
Guess who the Tyranids are a knock-off of.
>Guess who the Tyranids are a knock-off of.
The Arachnids from Starship Troopers.
kek, well-played
The alien from the Book The armor
Dinosaurs
Also the Terran drop ship says "in the pipe five by five"
What the frick does it mean?
>Starcraft is full of Aliens quotes like:
>Female Dropship Pilot saying "In the pipe, five by five"
>"Game over man, it's game over!!!"
>"How do I get out of this chickenshit outfit?"
>Colonial Marines instead of any other phrase to call the basic military unit. Like Space Force or Starship Trooper.
>General Warfield is basically Sergeant Apone
>Amerigo is the Auriga from Alien Resurrection
>Queens shoot out chestburster parasites into biological units
>Zerg Briefing Menu is based on the Hive interiors designed by H.R. Giger from Alien: The Director's Cut and Aliens.
Protoss
>Advanced warrior race with a nobility/honor code
>Dreadlocks
>Wrist blades
>Later on the Space Jockeys/Engineers take some of the same cliche Ancient Aliens cues that the Xel'Naga followed.
I could go on all day but that's a start before the thread gets archived.
>In the pipe
>five by five
this is what pilots used to say back at the end of the cold war, alien isn't the progenitor of these catch phrases moron.
Having the Dropship Pilot be a female wearing sunglasses and chewing bubble gum with a similar accent and cadence saying that line is the Aliens reference.
I am surprised that video games haven't face a major lawsuit for copyright infringement or plagiarism from the movie industry since Universal sued Nintendo over Donkey Kong being a ripoff of King Kong in the 1980's.
Classic game box and cabinet art literally traced movie posters and stills. Solid Snake was Kyle Reese from the Terminator. The Contra boxart was traced over Rambo and Predator stills.
I think it's because most of the time they changed enough to have plausible deniability. Donkey Kong was a viable target because he had Kong right there in the name along with all the other similarities, but how do you go after Star Craft for copying Aliens? The designs are different and all the similarities the movie studio could point to would be similarities that could be brought up about countless prior works/inspirations. It's probably just not worth it to pursue.
It's a mix of Firefly, Aliens, and Vietnam movies.
Uuum bro? all Blizzard franchises are retroactively bad now
Kerrigan has redhair dude.
Stop giving them ideas.

>so long as it ends where brood war ended
Fixed it for you. Starcraft 2’s story is an abomination.
this
moment fricking ONE is Jim pining over a fricking memory, setting the stage for "lolCORRUPTION and REDEMPTION" my dudes
Blizzard ruined all their games. The originals had this cool 80s 90s atmosphere. Sequel was basically capeshit. Same with diablo.
nobody cares about starcrap
warfact lore mogs it
>warfact lore
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHA
warcraft lore became moronic with beyond the dark portal. everything after that is just a cope
>warcraft lore became moronic with beyond the dark portal.
the warcraft 2 expansion? That was kino though. The idea of sending a medieval expedition through an unstable portal to another world, having no idea of their fate is pretty cool. Warcraft lore was good early in WoW until they finished tying up loose ends from Frozen Throne i.e. what happens to the horde/alliance, what happens to Illidan, and what happens to Kael/the elves. After they finished those storylines, stuff went off the rails.
looking back at Vanilla WoW there really was nothing going on was there? just smaller individual stories in massive zones that had there own thing going on. Sure there is mentions about black dragon frickery and horde just trying to survive how fricking shitty Kalimdor was but there was a whole lot of fricking nothing happening until the big bad raids came in. They where good fun but littrely none of them had anything to do with one another. Atleast BC and Wrath had more cohesiveness to it, still hate what they've done to Kael in sunwell, frick that stupid unfunny meme.
the movie sucked anon
That's what MMOs were like
ive never played many of them but im sure LotR, City of Heroes, and Guildwars had a set story in mind. I mostly got stuck with "Free MMOs" and the less said about those the better save for Adventure quest. (flash original)
>the movie sucked anon
it wasn't great, could have been worst
but my point stands, they had plans to make adaptations for Diablo and Starcraft but it was all cancelled because Warcraft didn't make enough money
would of worked more as a series rather than a movie due to how WC is in general and it was at the opportune time for Netflix or who-ever to grab onto it. But it is how it is, maybe having Arcane exist might inspire another try at it and have everything a stylized cgi and kick out the stupid live action bullshit, never liked that about the movie. It was good effort for all the props made but god it just didn't work.
seems like they launched with the intention of not having a central storyline, but changed their tune pretty quickly. Vanilla still filled in a lot of the lore, especially about lordaeron and khaz modan. Then when they hit BC they just picked up storylines from frozen throne.
I despised the hero-focused gameplay at the time, but there's no denying WC3 story is kino.
In Vanilla wow every zone is it's own story.
>the warcraft 2 expansion? That was kino though. The idea of sending a medieval expedition through an unstable portal to another world
WC2 and Dark Portal were awesome games, I did a playthrough like 6 months ago. You can find it on GOG cheap.
I hated WC3 they took the grim atmosphere of a desperate military campaign and turned it into a hero soap opera.
>turned it into a hero soap opera.
but we got this kino
>I hated WC3 they took the grim atmosphere of a desperate military campaign
I agree that part was lame
>turned it into a hero soap opera
Even though it basically boiled down to some pixar/disney capeshit it was kino and pure kino in its own right
arthas story line is the only good part and nothing else.
StarCraft 1 and SC1 Brood war is grim masterpiece kino.
Starcraft 2 is just disney tier.
>Brood war is grim masterpiece kino
m,aybe if you are mentally challenged
wc1 is okay for what it was, wc2 is alot better. sc1 broodwar is a mixed bag, its been years since ive played but the game-play revamps overall stellar, story was 'meh' with some good high points.
this, god why cant LDR pump up more kino shit like this?
because the story is shit. just like with every single blizzard property you have decent main story and then expansion that totaly shits the bed with nonsensical alliances and ancient artefacts.
UED was completely moronic lore breaking faction and everyone getting dunced by kerrigan made them all look stupid
I used to make my own campaigns as a kid and I thought of making one with humans from earth but decided it was moronic to have them use the same units as the Terrans.
Then Brood War came out.
Childhoods End by Arthur C Clarke is where they got the entire StarCraft story.
I kinda liked the UED and the idea that there's a large empire that could just slap their shit if they cared enough.
>UED sends tiny expeditionary fleet
>deliberately made out of old shitty hardware in case it gets wrecked so nothing can be reverse-engineered
>they slap the shit out of literally everyone, even making the overmind their b***h
and then they're defeated in the gaygiest way possible through narud
and then everyone forgot they existed
Earth is too far away
They distract from metzin's primary backstory with the xel'naga
Retcon is the only kind of writing Blizzard knows.
>zerg were bugs
>zerg were dinosaurs
>zerg tragically nommed their creators the Xel'naga
>the Xel'naga are still alive and it's all according to plan
>The Overmind did it
>Amon did it
>the Terrans are lost in space
>UED sent them there on purpose and were watching the whole time
>Korpula is as far from Earth as human ships can get
>UED can get there in no time
nah he's an annoying idiot who nerdily laughs and talks off-topic as "commentary".
The zerg were never bugs or dinosaurs they were PARASITES in the animal. No blizzard don't even read their own manuals
yes little buggy parasites. In the original description for Larva it said they resembled the Zerg's original form but jumbo. The manual describes zerg implanting themselves in their hosts brainstem like the Yeerks of Animorphs.
I forgot these retcons
>zerg infection is a virus
>zerg mutate by absorbing the essence of other species
in the first SC manual, it said Zerg caused their hosts to begin to mutate into more aggressive, warlike forms. The Xel'naga were disturbed by this because they wanted the Zerg to be pacifist pussies.
id love to see them give the protoss the star trek discovery klingon treatment and diversify the rest of the cast.
starcraft has extremely poorly defined scales
you never know the scale of the battle being fought
Starcraft is basically an amalgamation of other science fiction pop culture. People wouldn't take it seriously.
You would get a Warhammer 40K movie before you get a StarCraft one, probably.
But you had that one episode of Love Death and Robots which was close enough.
The greatest RTS of all time, SC2 can suck my dick.
There was one, it was called Star Craft II.
You can watch the SC2 cutscenes and they are laughably bad.
yeah fortunately the 1v1 SC2 gameplay is the best version of SC at this point, pity it's very slowly dying because most RTS players were always campaign casuals.
Play the sc2 coop
The campaigns are by far the most fun part of RTS's, multiplayer is only enjoyable for autists who have muscle-memory for their early build strategies. Might as well play a fighting game at that point.
nah it is fundamentally designed as a 1v1 competitive game. The campaigns are for people who play for 20~ hours then put the game down and never pick it up again. it's designed for the multiplayer as the key player base
Fighting games, RTS, and arena shooters are the last bastion of decent competitive gaming
The irony of you making this post and then calling others autists.
Cast her
anya taylor joy
damn it brings me back. only played sc and broodwars growing up, by the time sc2 came around i no longer gamed on pc so all i did was watch the cinematics years after all of them released. id love a nicely fleshed out sc anime or live action series or a few movies but dunno how thatd be received considering how disastrous blizzards other movie outing fared
Video game movies always seem to miss the fact that game lore is set up to drive the game along. Narrative structures that work in games don’t necessarily work in film or television. Warcraft in particular is so full of retcons the movie was doomed because there was too much to focus on.
It’s almost like the obiwan memes but with “did I ever tell you that orcs used to be brown”, like everything has been so elaborated on some guy trying to do Justice to it comes off as spastic instead of writing a movie about a bunch of Orc hooligans sacking Stormwind.
40k dick suckers again. Ya'll deserve to hang
wat
video game movies never work and there's only 3 RTS franchises worth a shit
>starcraft
>AOE
>command and conquer
>AOE
>command and conquer
wc3 was played at an entirely different level from those games. i mean there is just zero comparison between the pro scenes. wc3 was approaching bw levels of competition
oh don't worry, blizzard managed to torture us sc players too with sc2. 10 years of us trying desperately to get control of the game while they do everything possible to sabotage
i used to so dismissive about the smash scene and all their yelling... don't have that luxury these days...
you're absolutely right about that and it gets even worse
>company refuses to implement LAN (ability to play offline vs. each other through local area network)
>company also refuses to take care of their servers
>company does not allow for alternative servers
so huge tournament is in the finals there's 100,000 viewers aaaannnnnddddd server goes down, tournament staff has to negotiate on the phone with blizzard as if it's a terrorist situation. then you throw in a balance patch that makes a single unit way way too strong and every super-expert has to adapt to that... there are a million issues with the chess scene but at least the game itself stays the same
rts games are dead because people generally don't like to spend a long time in a match, put in a ton of work, and then still lose. at least in fps games you have teammates you can blame your lack of skill on.
why was SC2 such ridiculous horseshit, bros.
because blizzard cannt do lore. its all horrible nonsense
>caring about anything connected with singleplayer
back to WoW with you
your first post didnt work so you are trying it again?
The OG Blizzard creators and writers are long gone. We have SJW writers doing plots by committee now. Of course it will suck. The entire Xel'Naga plot was terrible and while Wings was passable (the only one I went back to replaying), Heart and Legacy were shite.
Still, we got some decent scenes out of it, some nice cutscenes, Kerrigan being hot af and and Raynor got the girl at the end.
the problems began long before. zerg/protoss hybrid was always a shitty idea
Agreed, never liked the idea, but it's what they came up with and it could have worked somehow. I really enjoyed the first 4 novels back in the day, the authors were not given specifics, so they had to come up with stuff on ntheir own, especially in Shadow of the Xel'Naga. Kevin J Anderson did a good job.
https://starcraft.fandom.com/wiki/StarCraft_Archive
>once the object was nuked, the creature inside emerged as a phoenix-like creature, absorbing all protoss and zerg in its wake. It even destroyed the remaining battlecruisers in space for their energy after they attacked it. By then, it had changed the climate of the planet (enhancing the life force of the vegetation) as well as rejecting the terrans it absorbed into physical form, as it has no use for them.
i ve read the crusade one and despite just being retelling of terran campaign it was comfy
They are all comfy, worth it for a fan.
i remember the speed of darkness being kinda meh, so i didnt bother to continue. also the quality of blizzard books is kinda hit and miss (in warcraft books at least) so i didnt bother
Speed of Darkness is the weakest one. Crusade and Uprising are comfy, Shadow is free for all kino,
I don't understand why Raynor would want the girl. She betrayed him and killed his friends.
he wasn't even into her during sc1 beyond wanting to bork her. probably didn't even bork her either.
Because they assassinated his character and rewrote him into a different character so they could make the sequel into a sappy love story.
why did Raynor go from bald to a head full of hair?
It's not realistic that a Stacey like Kerrigan would be attracted to some baldie.
Video game movies and shows are always bad. Stop asking for them. You're turning an interactive media into a non-interactive. Why the hell would this work, and why would you want it? Just play the game nerd.
>blizzard thread
>morons start droning on about arthas instead of the hundreds of other plot points
An anime like a cross between LOGH and the Street Fighter 94 movie would be pretty cool
Or a CGI toon like the Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles, yeah
Making movie adaptations out of video games that are basically just pastiche of movies to begin with is pointless and stupid.
It could work if the movie was a clever parody like Galaxy Quest.
Im still mad about the Xel´Naga beeing just fat weak space octopi and about the whole "YOURE THE CHOSEN ONE KERRIGAN NOW BECOME A FIRE ANGEL GODDESS AND KILL AMON/CTUHLHU"
If Artanis and Kerrigan merged to become a Xel Naga it would be still shit but at least somewhat lore accurate. Also Valerian is a cuck and Abathur is a chad. If they ever do a third game Abathur should kill Zagara, take over the Swarm, pupate into a new overmind, the Protoss should be taken over by fanatics and go full Covenant on the weak ass gay Dominion and glass the shit out of them and th UED should return and KILL them all in the End.
>and the UED should return and KILL them all in the End.

SC1 mogs the newer ones handily. Never much liked the modern cartoony Blizz graphics in Starcraft either, they're far better fit for Warcraft.
Izsha's design is pretty cute though.
Blizzard went pseudo-Pixar during WoW and full blown Pixar by the time HoS came out.
They've started backtracking a bit since then.
Worst part is that they should have actually gone full blown Pixar and started making an animated Overwatch series along with other animations.
It really seemed like what they were going for and their animation department has a moronic amount of skill in it.
That franchise is the biggest missed opportunity in Blizzard's history by a wide margin. They did fricking nothing with it.
Unfortunately now it's a bit late to do anything with any of their franchises, considering the original Blizz is long dead and the company is permanently pozzed to shit.
>Never much liked the modern cartoony Blizz graphics

What was your highest MMR in Starcraft 2?
I was a Diamond 1 Terran for a while.
Also Diamond 1, but as Zerg
literally just started playing this month. gold 3 terran so far
I just play once in a blue moon. Chillin' in Diamond 2 as zerg every season.
>What was your highest MMR in Starcraft 2?
GM, would hover around 25-50th. stopped playing after WoL
wasn't very good in wc3 but i did have a crazy APM, almost always 300+ maxing at around 350
played those games maybe 12 hrs a day for 10 years straight... the madness... the madness...
Why'd you stop playing? I know HoTS was hot garbage but LotV has improved on it a lot. The game is a lot faster now, and no less cerebral.
yeah i heard the level of play among average players has absolutely skyrocketed due to everyone watching builds on youtube. i went to a tournament and got trashed by stephano and it made me lose hope in terms of competing. i also got into the pro chess scene around the same time (which has been an even more painful experience)
Oh wow, I remember when "the Stephano build" was a huge breakthrough, making four hatches and just using mass queens for defence. He's still really good btw, he could easily beat BeastyQT who made a name for himself by getting into GM with meme builds. Watch "Mass Ravens & Widow Mines to GM" if you want to have a good laugh.
At least you got to play in a tourney, that alone puts you in the top 0.001% of people who ever played SC2.
I don't trust modern Blizzard to do anything anymore, but theoretically, a SC1/Brood War movie could absolutely be kino. I'd go so far as to say that Brood War has probably the best story in any RTS game. Of course, SC2 would have to be completely discarded as it's a hacky, inappropriate, cookie-cutter love and redemption story where Kerrigan literally goes Super Saiyan and becomes a space god at the end.
>Why has there never been a StarCraft movie, Cinemaphile?
They'd have to make it into a series, but it'd be hard to follow the first game because two-thirds of it is alien with no real human expression.
Yeah. Bet they were kicking themselves making sc2.
"This alien has no mouth - How the frick do I animate that!"
I'm referring to a general movie-going audience. The Terrans and Kerrigan would have to be the POV characters because the rest of the Protoss and Zerg would be a pain in the ass to make work because they either don't have faces or are homicidal maniacs.
Yeah that's a given. You could do the zerg (the discussions between the overmind and cerebrats) or the protoss like the asguardian in thor. But it would be cringe for modern audiences.
You just have to scale it back. Don't try to adapt the entire story from both games, just adapt a first contact story or something like that. I don't know why everyone thinks adaptations have to be totally complete, you can adapt parts of the greater universe.
>Don't try to adapt the entire story from both games, just adapt a first contact story or something like that.
In canon, first contact occurred almost immediately before the opening of the first game.
You're right about scaling it down, though. It can only really be about Terran operations, so make it about a ghost team.
Yeah, it's kinda strange people aren't freaking out at the start of sc1. From the terran point of view the protoss just appeared and burnt one of their worlds to a crisp without saying a word and now these strange animals are appearing.
Video game limitations, but that would absolutely have to be in any adaptation on Mar Sara.
The sc1 cinematics flavour make it seem like the conflict's just more of the same and like the zerg have been around forever, like the casual way that guy hits a zergling and the sarge's like "that ain't a dog bro that's a zergling, sure is weird it's out this far though" like it was no big deal to have zerg wandering around in the wilderness
I could never follow the plot in any of these games I just liked to build and attack.
based. the plot fricking sucks. all that matters in RTS is gameplay and controls, the rest is just a superficial coat of paint.
Speaking of, I wish other RTS had as good of controls as SC2. I would love to play a different RTS instead but almost none of them have figured out control groups and hotkeys like SC2
Staring Zendaya as Kerrigan, Hunter Schafer as Nova and John Boyega as Jim Raynor
No please no.
"Greetings inferior mouth breathing lifeforms. By order of the conclave this planet has been scheduled for purification.
No gratitude is expected, purification is its own reward."
I hope so
Still the best Blizzard cinematic.
I like how they put the protoss and zerg filters on to show they are listening. Nice touch
that's not the brood war intro though
KINO
sc1 cinematics were kino. they all had this disinterested feel, like you were just observing from a distance, like the characters themselves barely mattered relative to the conflict itself.
meanwhile, sc2 went full-naruto, with entire narratives orchestrated by single individuals, kerrigan and nerud using their manglyoko gigapresheen sharinguns to annihilate entire armies single-handed before transcending into godhood
Modern Blizzard is so soulless. Even the ressurrection cinematics were kind of shit. It's pretty much the same stuff but with better graphics, but the old ones had so much more soul.
And Diablo III cinematics are a fricking joke. They turned this cool dark story into some anime shit with slow mo and Naruto fights. Absolutely disgraceful.
Only if it's an adaptation of the original Starcraft and Broodwar, SC2's story is full of awful retcons like the primal Zerg, redemption of Kerrigan and other moronic shit.
What about an OC story? Pretty sure the reason there's been no movie yet is that nobody's desperate to see the starcraft "story" in movie form.
Starcraft has great story and many kino moments.
I agree, but it's not terribly cohesive is it? You would have to radically cut it, or do an elaborate series just to remake it all by rote. Rather than gut the story, I would create an OC that takes place on the periphery of certain major story events. Characters could serve in the terran military, one of them could get infested, perspective could still shift between the three races.
It doesn't need one
This kind of compilations scratch the itch just fine
You know you don't want an adaptation made today.
Omg Kerrigan transitioned into a zerg. I must affirm her identity and let her massacre people. The overmind is agendered biggot.
Brood War's cinematics are the best version available. SC2's are prettier but the story from Blizzard itself went to shit.
If the Weinsteins in Hollywood ever got their hands on it Raynor would be gay for Tychus, Kerrigan would be black, and the whole thing would be full of ugly mystery meat with 5 minutes of space combat out of a 120m runtime.
