Ponyo's extremely independent, she just loves that little boy above anything else
She was going to let life on earth end just to get what she wanted and wouldn't let anybody say shit to her about it

No one was as strong as Nanoha who was so strong Japanese otakus (fans of Japanese TV) had her enter the competition of strongest male shounen protagonists.
She lost in the first round against Goku.

She kind of does but it's left ambiguous what happens to her later. It only happened in the first place because Hei has gone full moron and made Sou suffer in the process even though he wanted the best for her. There are a lot of things I loved about S2 but there's also just way too much moronic decision made by the new lead female writer and the series just feels rushed as frick. I'm not one of those people who think that S2 was terrible but it definitely is a huge step down from S1

Reminds me of this chick that was into ghibli movies cause they were "intellectual" while hated and mocked things like twilight or disney for being sexist.
Ironically snow white and cinderella have more personality than all ghibli female main characters

I know this is bait but still, those characters have flaws, are not omnipotent, need help from other characters and also provide it while retaining their feminity. Literally textbook examples of how to write characters that the audience can and will like.

Threads like this always remind me of that study that showed that liberals are incapable of understanding their opponents' viewpoints. Life must be so confusing when reality seems to constantly contradict the strawmen you make up instead of actually understanding how other people think or what they are saying.

When Ghibli makes a strong woman, they do it by writing a woman, and making her strong.
When Hollywood makes a strong woman, they do it by writing a woman, and then making everyone around her weak until she appears strong by comparison. That's the difference. That's why Cinemaphile likes Ellen Ripley, Sarah Connor, or Leia Organa.
