Memories of murder actually made me kinda horny.
Just imagining to being that crazy rain soaked pervert hunting in the rain.
Crazy how a movie can influence a normal person like that
Because, just like Slumdog, they had a gangbang feld of 10 nominees. The winner could have had as little as 12% of the votes.
And, like Slumdog, it will have zero impact on American art and culture.
The police still had not caught the actual murderer that the story was based on when the movie came out, so he was looking at the murderer through the screen. I think they did catch him eventually though.
The murders were based off a real-life string of killings by someone who was never caught and the intention was that the character looking into the camera at the end would’ve been him staring at the killer as he watched the film.
The problem is, the killer was arrested for another murder before the movie came out and was only proved to have done the other killings years later, so he probably never even saw the movie.

It´s a real life story ending you dumb fuck, taken from a real life case. They never caught the person, and they were not even close to the real culprit
Their main suspect was a handsome, feminine looking dude, and the kid at the end says the killer looked very average
Watched >Parasite >Memories of Murder >Mother >Oldboy >Burning
What should my next Korean kino be? These were all great and I won't stand for something worse.
. But be sure to watch the Directors Cut.
Also, Oldboy was the last movie in a (thematic) trilogy, preceded by Lady Vengeance and Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance all listed in backwards order. I just finished Sympathy, and it was a solid 7/10. Not quite as good as Oldboy though.
Korea honestly doesn't have that many more great movies beyond the ones you've listed. The Japs have them beat.
I watched Helpless (Hoa-cha 2012) just yersterday. The reason i watched it is becasue some Korean young woman was inspired by this movie to try it herself.
It was actually a blooper. Song Kang-ho forgot his lines and looked right at the camera in despair. Bong thought it was poignant and fit the ambiguous tone of the movie, so it stayed in.
Along with the girl saying the killer was there not too long ago, I interpreted it as illustrating just how fucking hard it was to try and catch the guy at the time. He could've been right in front of them and they still wouldn't have a clue.

Korea really seems like hell. Their filmmakers have such obvious mental problems.
Funny, that's literally what a lot of Koreans call it
