It's more like it's disgusting to see women push for this shit so hard knowing that by all metrics they aren't actually interested into it. They sooner see 2 white men be gay than a normal interracial relationship. So why do they push all this DEI bullshit?

                >So why do they push all this DEI bullshit
It started out as social clout, but then Financial institutions got involved and required any large company taking out loans to get a DEI score. Then the stock market got involved too. Every company gets a DEI score and on a scale of 1 to 20 (1 being safest and 20 being most risky). The closer a company is to 1 DEI score means they are ranked as a safer investment for people putting money in the stock market. Companies aren't doing this for fun. They have to do it now.

The only way you can avoid it is if your company is 100% privately owned.

Yep. Then most recently the DEI thing spread to the writers room. Now writers aren't allowed to write for characters that aren't the same race as they are. And writers teams have quotas where something like 50% of the team must be female writers and 25% must be minorities and 10% must be handicapped or from a sexually marginalized group.
You couldn't even make Supernatural Seasons 1 to 5 in todays world because the writers that wrote it wouldn't be allowed in the writers room today with DEI rules.

                Anonymous

Most female writers don't understand male brotherhood or comraderie. Men bond through battle and hardships and their relationship is similar to brothers. But women constantly fantasize its a sexual bond and ruin it. They are self inserting themselves and ruining it.

                Women fans think:
"Oh if *I* was Dean, then I totally would bang Castiel! That's totally what I would do and should happen!"

Then other female fans jump in and say:
"No if I was Dean, then I would totally bang Sam! Who cares about incest or morality? Sam is hot!"

They use the characters as proxies for themselves and who they want to bang deep down. Then it just spirals into endless arguments.

God help you if you suggest they get with a normal young woman. All the women fans will turn against you. They get catty because it ruins their male x male fantasy.

The only way that a woman can be accepted as a possible ship is if she is marginalized in some way. Like she's a single mom, same age or older as main characters, or if she is handicapped. Then they get immunity from criticism and must be accepted as a "possible" ship by female fans.

                Anonymous

You don't understand female fans at all. It's not about self-inserting because they are ugly so even in their imagination they can't self insert. That's why they need to sexually humiliate a character they are sexually attracted to through shipping.
It needs to be "he's gay (which is why I can't imagine him fricking me even though I'm sexually attracted to him)".
For male fans, they sexually humiliate female characters they are attracted to through equally mentally ill shit like fat ugly bastards, NTR and cuckshit.
Female fandom is seeing a huge jump in FTM trannies because the sex they imagine is so disassociated from themselves with no self inserting that they convince themselves it's body dysmorphia, and they eventually convince themselves they can LARP IRL as a yaoi boy.
The DEI shit is because female fandom is always cucked social justice shit.

I don't recall them ever staying in the hospital that long.

Both brothers, their dad, and Bobby all have episodes where they're clinging to life for days on end. I'm watching currently and it's turning into a pattern lol

Nah they suck. Pagan and folklore monsters are much better than battling cosmic entities

This, the MOTW and ghost episodes have much more interesting plots. The cosmic entity superplot is just a way to keep the show moving after they've already tried every monster. It's fine with me though cause it adds a fourth wall element that clicks well with the sort of sardonic live action anime vibe of the middle seasons. If you like the humor and characters it's a blessing in disguise.

                >It's movie magic but I say it should be canon magic in-universe as well.
It literally is that, in S15 it's revealed that God gave them a "main character pass" which helps them not have mundane normal people problems that would interfere with the plot. Then that power is taken away from them which they then have to deal with for the rest of the remaining episodes.

                >It literally is that, in S15 it's revealed that God gave them a "main character pass" which helps them not have mundane normal people problems that would interfere with the plot

It released during a time when weekly episodes were a big thing and it accumulated a huge fanbase so it kept getting a decent amount of views all of its runtime.
I can see that it might have been better to watch one episode a week than to binge it because it gets really tedious around season 10 and onwards which might not have been the case if you only saw one episode per week.

Think of it like if The X-files was a procedural. The budget was highly manageable because they made all the monsters just be dudes with glowy eyes and the fight choreography was basically the same every time, so it didn't need a billion viewers to justify the budget costs like many other shows. People want that "spooky mystery" fix and Supernatural supplied it when there was nothing like The X-Files or even Stranger Things. Even the shittiest season has at least one good stand-alone episode so you had plenty of people watching it hoping for one of those.

        Exactly, kek

Not initially. While it is true that the two main characters were hot, the show regularly introduced hot women that the brothers had to save and would express sexual interest in one of the brothers. You had hot reoccurring male protagonists being paired with babes of the week. This changed around season 3/4 when they started trying to expand the supporting cast.

Not really, it just got a fangirl following because the leads (particularly Dean) are attractive. They did play into it a bit in later seasons though

        Interesting. That actually makes sense.

The tumblrina audience hated ANY "young" female character on the show, it's why they always ended up being killed off when the writers saw the hate online. Her character got the worst of it because she was meant to be the safe female character, on account of her being a lesbian because they thought all the hate came from the women being potential romantic interests of the boys. They clearly took out their frustrations on her being a failure. That's also why the only female characters that got to stick around instead of being killed in some horrible fashion was the older lady cop and the fat cop, because they weren't seen as young women and obviously not romantic interests. One was motherly and the other a fat comedic relief.

would have been the wet dream of the female fans but they fricking hated it because of how petty and jealous and deluded they were

Dean had his spine impaled on a piece of rebar just like Sam had been in one of the early seasons, but this time Dean decided they shouldn't try to cheat death. Making it such a random and meaningless death makes it hurt more, the unfulfilling nature of it all lending more importance to the decision to not try to escape it. If Dean died a hero's death it would feel satisfying and appropriate to let it "stick," which would undercut the message of Dean and Sam letting go.

Set me back $800 for a size medium, which is about the going rate for these. The morons listing them for $3,500+ on eBay will never sell theirs. I know because this once was once listed for five grand and I watched the seller slowly drop his price over the course of a year.

I’ve also got a size large that I bought for $15 from the Salvation Army. Now that one was a real find because it’s damn near mint condition if I’ve ever seen one, shame it’s a bit too big for me though. Even still, I couldn’t pass that one up for the price.

After Season 5, new female producers came on board. They didn't like that boys and male teenagers enjoyed watching the show. They even gave interviews talking about how they wanted the older female audience. Not boys or men. So one of they first things they did was get rid of any young females cast members on the show. Then they made Dean and Sam date single moms and much older women. [spoilers] Sam marries some deaf woman in her late 40s [/spoilers]

We go from Dean and Sam being heartthrobs to them dating single moms and the shows producers potentially making Dean g4y. The female producers just won't accept brotherhood between warriors who fight together. There has to be "FEELINGS".

It's massively downhill after Season 5. But The second worst part is that the writers have flashes of brilliance. There will be one or two ideas introduced that are awesome, but the writers won't commit and drop whole thing.

    For example:

    1. Adventures of Samuel Colt and his magic colt pistol.

    2. Nazi death cults that survived in secret.

    3. israeli magic that can summon golems to fight

    4. The War in Heaven and how Lucifer lost and was cast out.

    5. Luciver creating his own 5 Archdemon Generals to lead the forces of hell. Demons so powerful that only Lucifer and other Archangels could stop them. These Demon Generals inflicted severe damage on the forces of Heaven during the war

    6. Other magic items and weapons of power besides the Colt Pistol

    7. Men of Letters collecting ancient artifacts

    8. "Pagan gods" being pissed at the Angels and god. And how they rank against Angels in power.

    9. The idea that there are other immensely powerful beings in the universe that can challenge Archangels.

    10. Dean or Sam turning into a demon

    11. Weapon of Hell

    12. Etc etc.

I could go on and on, but the writers introduce these ideas and then literally drop them after a few episodes and forget about it. Just to go back to the status quo and talking about muh FEELINGS and love.

For me it was Dean turning into a demon at the end of S9 and being cured in the first episode of S10. Such a fun idea, completely wasted. It killed Supernatural for me.

I believe the 200th episode was also coming up around that time and they wanted Dean back to normal so they could do another one of their meta comedy episodes to celebrate.

I really liked the idea of the "anti-god" represented by the so called Darkness, It was a good idea, and later they have to rely again on the "god is evil" persona thing, and choosing Chuck is the worst, I mean I really think It was cool he being the prophet of the new apocalypse but since Kripke departure the writing was have more lows than highs

          >I really liked the idea of the "anti-god"
That was the ancient nature of Satan, a different entity opposing God, before Christianity merged that with the figure of the fallen angel, Lucifer. Having both at the same time was a good idea, but it was wasted like most good ideas they had.

Watch it until the last scene with Dean in the last episode of season 5 ends then switch it off immediately, don't watch the last minute or so after. You can then watch the musical episode and the Scooby Doo episode. This way it's an amazing show. Past season 5 all the way to 12 or 13 or wherever it ends is a complete let down.

I liked the first 5 seasons. They were fun, shlock horror with a brotherhood at core of it, a live removed from society against shitty odds and an overaching theme and enemy.
After their fight with the Yellow Eyed frick, it all went downhill, it's clear they had 0 plans after that, and just shat themselves profusely and violently with increasingly ludicrous plots and villains.
At least we got Castiel out of it.
    Why did I keep watching?
    Even after Bobby died?
Mostly just Sam and Dean as characters - the rest was just windowdressing.

      >After their fight with the Yellow Eyed frick, it all went downhill, it's clear they had 0 plans after that, and just shat themselves profusely and violently with increasingly ludicrous plots and villains.

They had potential with some interesting ideas. But the writers would not commit to a single idea! For example, They would "dip their toes into the pool" by making Dean into a Demon. But get so afraid that they undo it after 2 episodes, despite promoting the storyline heavily and making fans think Demon Dean would be a season long villain. Months of promotions and teasing the fans. Then the season premieres and they undo it in 2 episodes. Bait and fricking switch!

Agreed. If they had another overaching idea for seasons 5-10 it would have been kino, no matter how slow going it was.

Remember when Sam bled a demon possessed woman dry of her blood, so he could drink it and summon Satan? Mind you he was not mind controlled or possessed himself and he had the knowledge to exercise the demon, but chose instead to sacrifice an innocent woman.

Sam drinks Demon blood to boost his psychic powers to destroy Lilith. But the drawbacks are that it's boost is only temporary and the blood can be addicting.

Pretty much the brothers all get boosts from Supernatural beings at one point during the show. Every single boost has downsides and cons.

So the boys just decide that being human (with a few minor tweaks) is the best balance.

They should definitely have had a big finale where they closed off hell again and then went back to hunting cryptids and dealing with ancient curses. Just saving people and hunting things like they always went on about, instead of having to deal with the fate of the world. If they really needed a big villain then do shit like the Frankenstein Family or the Nazi Necromancers as a season's big bad.

The show in the last 4? seasons is longform twitter responses about "shipping" (said in the show itself) the two brother together, making Dean and Castiel gay but never pulling the trigger (even though the actor still wants credit for being a gay icon television character), etc. etc.
The story goes through about 4 different apocalypse scenarios in the style of current day WoW where it escalates to where they are fighting titans who created the universe before god was born and similar dogshit.

The problem with Supernatural is that the writers have a problem with "implied destruction". When an Angel first appeared, they blew up a small town off the map. That was Castiel. He apologized and said that was his "true form" speaking to humans. He wasn't actually trying to destroy anything. And Castiel was a mid to low tier angel.

If Michael fought Lucifer, we humans shouldn't even be able to perceive the battle. Thy would be fighting on multiple plains of existence. All we humans should see is a bright white light when they clash, and something like Australia should blow up. Or at the very LEAST
...there should be a massive crater in the aftermath of the battle and every human nearby should have their eyes burned out. Then have either Michael or Lucifer standing triumphant over the bloody and beaten body of their opponent. Both of them looking ragged but one being a clear winner. The new writers and producers shouldn't LITERALLY have the two angels be punchinf eachother like a street brawl. Supernatural is not a super hero show.

        Anonymous

The implied destruction was a great way to get around the show having a low budget, but it did seemed the writers missed the point when they had Michael and Lucifer actually fight. I guess they just couldn't find another way to conclude the Lucifer storyline without a fight and decided it was best to just bite the bullet even though it would have looked like trash.

            >Ah yeah, there was an episode of a guy who was possessed for too long that he became a serial killer or something right? Not to mention Lucifer's host
            Yes that's true.

But Fans also forget the early seasons. If a possessed person suffers any injuries while possessed (and heals), the injuries will return after the demon leaves or is exorcised out. The Winchester's exorcised a demon out of a woman who suffered fatal injuries and the injuries came back after the exorcism. She died but thanked the Winchester's for saving her.

So if a demon vessel suffers fatal injuries while possessed, the fatal injury will return after the demon leaves. That's while it's pointless to try exorcism on very old demons. 99.9999% of the time their host body suffered fatal injuries long ago, and the demon is using its power to keep the body from dying. That's why the Winchester opt to use demon killing knives and blades to kill them. It's more of a mercy.

              >That's while it's pointless to try exorcism on very old demons.
Most of the demons they kill are really young ones, though. That's why they can stab them, instead of being thrown around by force powers like the older demons are capable of doing. If they'd actually closed off hell again so that only the strongest demons could escape it then it would have made total sense to keep killing the remaining old ones, but they fricked up and left hell open so newly-made demons could also pop up top and take a new host. Every day has new demons taking over bodies and the brothers could never know how new and undamaged the body is. I bet most of the demon-fodder that gets killed are really recent possessions who never got into any big fights before coming across the brothers. That's why they act like fodder instead of like Crowley.

Demons are humans. They're just corrupted souls. Hence not allowed in purgatory, where the "soulless" monster beings go.

A dead demon is double dead so they cease to exist entirely, they don't go to purgatory. Only monsters that are descendants of Eve/her creations go there.

              >A dead demon is double dead so they cease to exist entirely
One thing that really pissed me off was when they made Bobby a ghost and then had his soul get to go to heaven afterwards anyway. Suddenly there's no reason not to stick around as a ghost and help out as long as you can, whereas before it always seemed to hint that it was a huge tragedy because you forfeited your chance at heaven when you anchored your soul to a physical object, with the soul burning up along with the object getting destroyed.

The knife was necessary because the Colt ran out of original bullets. And exorcisms take way too long, and can only be done on a 1 on 1 basis. You can't exorcise 6 demon-humans charging at you.

Just trick them into walking into a giant demon trap sigil, bro. Or shoot them in the leg with a bullet that has a sigil scratched on it, then you can exorcise them on your own time because they're powerless. Both things also helps you not have to get into grappling range with a being that can throw you through walls.

              >Just trick them into walking into a giant demon trap sigil, bro.
That only works if you can lure them into a trap by surprise.

And it only fully traps low level demons. Mid tier demons were only annoyed by it. The trap stopped their movement, but they could still use their powers. Like that one demon that could still use telekinesis and throw them Brothers around despite being trapped.

Upper demons could outright ignore the Demon's trap. Walk right through it like it was nothing.

              >Or shoot them in the leg with a bullet that has a sigil scratched on it, then you can exorcise them on your own time because they're powerless.

In later season they did do that. It worked on some demons. But Upper level demons could ignore the ignore the bullets completely. Same and Dean shot them with multiple devil's trap bullets. They just laughed it off.

This is the problem with Female producers. They can't make action shows. They always turn it into a soap opera and make characters fall in love and talk about their feelings.

A Supernatural spinoff show should have been about other hunters. Like Bobby and Rufus. The two grumpy old hunter dudes in Supernatural. But make it a prequel show set during the 1970s when they were in their young prime as hunters and were partners.

The focus should be about action and brotherhood.

Literally a product from another era. 2 main characters, going around the country, killing monsters and having fun. It may sound simple but this wouldn't get made nowadays. They would overcomplicate things with unnecessary drama from the first episode, schemes and plots from random secondary characters and pointless side plots that would amount to nothing.
Back to SPN, it's just simple cool fun stuff. And like others have said, consider dropping it in S5 if you're going to watch it. The 10 seasons that came after it never reach that level again, but they're good enough to watch if you watch them just to get more of the same fun formula. They only get worse and worse and by Season 11, you should drop it completely as that's when they start bringing alternate universes and that's just too shit.

Watch the first 5 seasons but pretend the last 5 seconds of the season 5 finale didn't actually happen and its a pretty good show especially considering it's a CW show. My biggest complaint is the show often introduces characters, you don't care about them because they'll only be in an episode or two. Then all of a sudden they show up again, they get a bunch of character development and you start liking them and then they immediately kill them off. But the monster of the week episodes are fun and I do like the overarching plot even if it's ignored most episodes. I only just watched it for the first time a few years ago and it's definitely a product of its time but it's still worth a watch if you like the subject matter

I think it was explained in few episodes that the Boys use credit cards and fake names. And they hustle pool, poker, and earn cash at bars. They stay at cheap motels and pay cash to avoid being tracked when possible. They don't take the credit card thing too far (like buying nice Ferrari cars), and only use it to buy necessary items. Everything is done to stay under the radar.

After the arc where the FBI agent tries to take them in for fraud they really downplay this aspect to the point where I'm not even sure if it was the writers' intention any more even though they never replaced it with anything.

                >I never even remember Dean and Sam getting any new shit
That's pretty much my point. There are many hunters living the same criminal lifestyle as them completely uninhibited, so a more grounded show would explain how all these people work together to stay under the radar, show them selling each other magical artifacts, procuring fake IDs, etc etc. Instead it seems like everyone just naturally gets by. There are multiple episodes where Sam and Dean get caught on camera and mistaken for murderers or whatever. They also get caught using fake FBI badges and so on, but these situations only last one episode and are then forgotten after its convenient resolution. How are they not America's most wanted?

Apparently my headcanon is correct btw, see

                >It's movie magic but I say it should be canon magic in-universe as well.
It literally is that, in S15 it's revealed that God gave them a "main character pass" which helps them not have mundane normal people problems that would interfere with the plot. Then that power is taken away from them which they then have to deal with for the rest of the remaining episodes.

It literally is that, in S15 it's revealed that God gave them a "main character pass" which helps them not have mundane normal people problems that would interfere with the plot. Then that power is taken away from them which they then have to deal with for the rest of the remaining episodes.

i loved supernatural it was just the right amount of gay. true blood went a little too gay. and the vampire shows after it went over the top.

My ex loved this series and I thought it was because she liked the stories and shit but turns out she was just very sexually attracted to Dean.

only watched the first season but I remember seething over the fact that every episode involved the boys helping some qt3.14, but they never developed it further than her giving one of the two brothers a kiss on the cheek and saying "you're a good guy!"

when the older brother was tripping and scared shitless of a tiny wee dog, his comedy timing is exceptional.
