>he wants art to give him ready made answers
Now, who's the coward?
The 'actual answer' lay somewhere in between Wake's gaslighting and abuse of Winslow and Winslow's slipping grip on sanity
Multi-week long benders are really like that though. You end up getting alcoholic psychosis. If you don't know what that is, it's similar to a schizophrenic episode.
They were unhinged assholes, what was the "interesting question"?
>create a movie about maddening isolation, paranoia, gaslighting
>blend contradictory backstories and surreal supernatural imagery so the viewer never quite knows what's real
>brainlets complain because it's not a video game puzzle to solve with a shower of loot box sparkles
many such cases
>I enjoy having my time wasted
Good for you. The rest of us want actual stories with a beginning, middle and end.
>I enjoy having my time wasted
That's an ironic thing to say on this site.
So why did you watch a black & white arthouse film? Dr strange is probably more your speed.
Dr Strange and the Multiverse of Madness might just be the movie for you.
Of all Marvel movies you needed to namedrop the most artistic and creative one, directed by a legend?
>>I enjoy having my time wasted
That's a pretty dumb thing to say. I personally prefer movies that leave a little room for interpretation since they leave more of an impression.
Art is about expressing something, or trying to instill something in the viewer. Not every film needs a clear-cut story, or even a story at all, to achieve that.
>if a story doesn't end perfectly then my time was wasted
plebs everyone
>>I enjoy having my time wasted
It's a fucking movie retard. How about you get a job and a "productive" hobby then. Most importaintly GTFO
gay
kek
this really rustled a lot of jimmies didn't it? I enjoyed the lighthouse but Jesus Christ /misc/ must be one of the most sensitive boards. Everyone that replied to you is a huge gay
based
>the media I consume has to be "brave" and take moralistic stances
Back to twitter
Where did I say that?
All I wanted was an ending that didn't leave me going "the fuck?".
>So why did you watch a black & white arthouse film?
Is arthouse code for garbage made by hacks or something? Why does an artsy fartsy film not have to make sense?
yes thats basically what arthouse means. the plot and story are less important than the emotions and visuals.
its not for everyone
>the plot and story are less important than the emotions and visuals.
Honestly, the plot isn't even that confusing. The "unanswered questions" really aren't that important and you can easily make your answer. OP is just a crayon-eating Marvel fan.
>really aren't that important and you can easily make your answer.
Then why would I watch the movie?
I can make up a story in my head if I want, I watch movies to see other peoples stories.
You seem to have misunderstood me. What I said is that the unclear things were not important to the telling of the story. I suppose if you can't understand a simple text on an imageboard, you're hopeless.
>. What I said is that the unclear things were not important to the telling of the story
What story? The film turns into gibberish at the end.
Apparently it’s an autism test as well as a film.
So explain it to me then. Explain the movies story as if I'm 10 years old.
It’s not for you, it’s about adult things you wouldn’t understand. You’ll be bored because your brain is tiny and underdeveloped and you still wet the bed.
So you can't explain it then?
Explain the ending.
>Explain the ending.
Due to the storm, no one can pick them up from the island. Due to that they run out of alcohol and are very much on edge. Rouge wave hits the island fucking it everything, even more, an "Edwind" snaps, killing Tom, but also suffering a fatal wound in the fight and later dying. If you were unable to understand at least that, how the fuck were you even able to find how to post?
>If you were unable to understand at least that
The director failed at his job, not my problem.
A thread died for your stupidity.
And this directors career will die if he keeps making shit movies.
Two people go mad on an island. Can't put it simpler.
>What story? The film turns into gibberish at the end.
Could you specify? All seems pretty understandable to me. Maybe apart from a few insignificant details.
For the cinematography, the acting, the editing, the cuts, the sound design, for the fucking craft and so on. There's nothing more brainlet than thinking you watch a movie ONLY for the story
>the cinematography, the acting, the editing, the cuts, the sound design
Who cares about any of that if your story is shit? If a movie has a shit story, it's a shit movie.
>Is arthouse code for garbage made by hacks or something? Why does an artsy fartsy film not have to make sense?
hacks do art that is easy to do aka copying, arthouse explores other shit and if its very unknown and unexplored it might end up a mess, also lot of art films are more style than substance, thats why its a film and not a book
it is also plainly more artistic to let the watcher guess things instead of spelling them out
>also lot of art films are more style than substance, thats why its a film and not a book
If anything is style over substance it's automatically shit.
Book, film, whatever. You don't get to produce shallow wank with the excuse of "I-I-IT'S FOR THE VISUALS!".
Yet you gays cock ride Lynch for the very same thing.
I hate Lynch too.
then you are lost.
imagine getting filtered by this film, that's unbelievably sad. i know half or more of the people on here have 0 tastes but this movie was not difficult in the slightest. It had a great engaging script and excellent cinematography with a unique plot as well.
Ok so explain it to me then.
Explain the story.
2 guys get drunk in a lighthouse and shenanigans ensue
They did, didn't they /misc/?
>Too much of a coward to commit to an actual answer
bebby need spoon in mouf? :3 dawww
No one likes this dogshit movie, you're not cool for liking shit movies.
That's pretty good for the 4 theaters it was in with the same number of people at each showing. I enjoyed it on the big screen
>Y'RE A FLJGLRGWRW WINSL*BRRRRRRRRRRRR*
>FUCK YE MAN OI SOLILIGUWEE JUS THA SAME
>*BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*
>*BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*
good times.
>the pipe is upside down
what does it mean?
huh?
Seems fine to me
>never seen a pipe before
And now the fun begins.
The pipe is not a pipe
This movie is great, but I have to wonder if it was some sinister ploy to draw people in to completely waste their time with The Northman. Is Egg really an evil genius bent on stealing 2 hours and 17 minutes of people's lives?
Ok, so how many of you think the supernatural elements were real? How many of you think it was all madness from the isolation and harsh conditions? Was it a blend of the 2?
If you've ever fucked with the occult, there's little difference. They go hand in hand.
>He doesn't realize this was the Edward from Twighlight origin story
My theory, a gay theory is that they had forced homo sex and went insane from the booze and homosex and started see shit hangover
People think having answers is bad because "mysteries are scary!" but I always just get more annoyed and unsatisfied by shit like that.
I want to see the monster damnit. Not seeing it will just perpetually annoy me to no end. I know that doesn't really work here but the concept in general of never getting an answer the person behind it all clearly has is always annoying.
why is his pipe upside down?
Why are people so up their asses about hating this movie?
Couldn't you tell watching it that fucking atmosphere carries the whole thing, did you honestly feel you needed a traditional plot at any point? The setting alone is captivating enough as it is, you don't really need more when its as well executed as it was in this movie.
I'm never bored watching this, it's one of the most fun movies I've ever watched, and I love it more with every rewatch I do. It's a classic.
>did you honestly feel you needed a traditional plot at any point?
Yes I did.
Every movie needs a plot. Every movie needs a beginning, middle and end. Every movie needs to make sense. Anything else is mental illness at worst and the work of a hack and a fraud at best.
I liked it because I've always loved seafaring mythology, rhyme of the ancient mariner really struck me when I was a kid and I come from a long line of sailors and fishermen. You guys should just learn to enjoy negative opinions of things you like, it's pretty funny but you guys are such fags about this shit
zoomer brainrot "kino". it's deep for illiterate morons, for everyone else it's painfully self-conscious and pointless tripe.
needlessly hostile and bad attitude to have about a movie.
>NOOOOOO I CAN'T MAKE MY OWN OPNION I NEED SOME ONE TO TELL ME WHAT TO THINK
npc
>NOOOOO I CAN'T WRITE A CLEAR ENDING I NEED THE VIEWERS TO INVENT ONE IN THEIR HEADS
