The 'actual answer' lay somewhere in between Wake's gaslighting and abuse of Winslow and Winslow's slipping grip on sanity

Multi-week long benders are really like that though. You end up getting alcoholic psychosis. If you don't know what that is, it's similar to a schizophrenic episode.

That's a pretty dumb thing to say. I personally prefer movies that leave a little room for interpretation since they leave more of an impression.
Art is about expressing something, or trying to instill something in the viewer. Not every film needs a clear-cut story, or even a story at all, to achieve that.

yes thats basically what arthouse means. the plot and story are less important than the emotions and visuals.

          >the plot and story are less important than the emotions and visuals.
Honestly, the plot isn't even that confusing. The "unanswered questions" really aren't that important and you can easily make your answer. OP is just a crayon-eating Marvel fan.

Then why would I watch the movie?

I can make up a story in my head if I want, I watch movies to see other peoples stories.

You seem to have misunderstood me. What I said is that the unclear things were not important to the telling of the story. I suppose if you can't understand a simple text on an imageboard, you're hopeless.

Due to the storm, no one can pick them up from the island. Due to that they run out of alcohol and are very much on edge. Rouge wave hits the island fricking it everything, even more, an "Edwind" snaps, killing Tom, but also suffering a fatal wound in the fight and later dying. If you were unable to understand at least that, how the frick were you even able to find how to post?

        >Is arthouse code for garbage made by hacks or something? Why does an artsy fartsy film not have to make sense?
hacks do art that is easy to do aka copying, arthouse explores other shit and if its very unknown and unexplored it might end up a mess, also lot of art films are more style than substance, thats why its a film and not a book

it is also plainly more artistic to let the watcher guess things instead of spelling them out

If anything is style over substance it's automatically shit.

Book, film, whatever. You don't get to produce shallow wank with the excuse of "I-I-IT'S FOR THE VISUALS!".

This movie is great, but I have to wonder if it was some sinister ploy to draw people in to completely waste their time with The Northman. Is Egg really an evil genius bent on stealing 2 hours and 17 minutes of people's lives?

I want to see the monster damnit. Not seeing it will just perpetually annoy me to no end. I know that doesn't really work here but the concept in general of never getting an answer the person behind it all clearly has is always annoying.

Couldn't you tell watching it that fricking atmosphere carries the whole thing, did you honestly feel you needed a traditional plot at any point? The setting alone is captivating enough as it is, you don't really need more when its as well executed as it was in this movie.

I'm never bored watching this, it's one of the most fun movies I've ever watched, and I love it more with every rewatch I do. It's a classic.

      Yes I did.

Every movie needs a plot. Every movie needs a beginning, middle and end. Every movie needs to make sense. Anything else is mental illness at worst and the work of a hack and a fraud at best.
