the only thing keeping idw alive is the hopes of locke of key and a few other really minor titles.
the past 5 years of tmnt have probably just ruined the company apart from the last ronin, i dont think anyone can save tmnt at this point anon.
Would IDW be healthier if Sonicgays actually bought the series instead of just jerking off to it on social media?
100%, but then theyd still waste all their money on something stupid like a 20 issue run of biker mice from mars or something (as cool as that sounds, it wouldnt be)
What if it's a complex look at the rise of populist extremism in Chicago?
instead of asking me you could try writing it yourself and found out your answer my man, i cant predict the future. yet.
But they are buying it. Sonic and TMNT sell the best for the IDW. You have to remember that the comics aren't what's tanking IDW but everything else for the company. They also make stuff like tv shows and movies but their contracts have been sucking.
The gap between TMNT and Sonic's sales is huge
There's a reason why IDW's been focusing so much on TMNT while Sonic doesn't even have a second ongoing
dont forget locke and key
im just a massive fan and i really dont want it to end because as far as i know theyve done nothing since the golden age
>dont forget locke and key
NTA, but I had no idea they were even doing another Locke and Key series, which really speaks to just how poorly they are promoting their shit. But that's what happens when you fire 75% of your staff, or whatever they did last year.
its been in the making for about 5 years or before covid, its basically what happened during ww1/ww2 and why the keys where stopped being able to be used by adults. i think covid basically just took the wind out of it and whatever idw has been doing he last 2 years just ruined them.
That's a damned shame, but I get how that can be.
>is the hopes of locke of key
Oh shit, yeah what the happened with that? It was starting up again but then just ???? Were they waiting to see if IDW collapsed?
>Will Jason Aaron save this series?
It's already doomed. Having 30+ variant covers and it being a fake #1 issue are helping the numbers, but Aaron's run is going to be horrendously bad, just like everything he wrote for Marvel.

Fricking Big 2 shit.
>just like everything he wrote for Marvel.
*rages in best ghost rider run since 2099*
So is this TMNT thing a reboot or what?
Nope. Continuing directly off the dumpster fire that IDW has been for the last decade or so. First confirmed stories are Raph in prison, Mikey is a celebrity in Japan, and Donnie has time travel amnesia.
>Fans are firmly behind the upcoming relaunch of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book line. The Heroes in a Half-Shell are starting a new era of storytelling at IDW Publishing, with Thor and Avengers writer Jason Aaron at the helm. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are one of the most popular franchises in the pop culture zeitgeist, so there is understandably a lot of interest in a new #1 hitting comic book shelves. Taking a look at the early orders for July's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1, demand for the Turtles is at an all-time high.
>IDW Publishing reveals the orders for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 from retailers and fans are more than 300,000, ahead of its debut on July 24th. This would make the IDW relaunch one of the biggest comic book launches of the year. Joining Jason Aaron on the first issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is artist Joëlle Jones (Batman, Lady Killer) and longtime TMNT creatives colorist Ronda Pattison and letterer Shawn Lee. For the first four issues of the new ongoing series, a different Turtle will step into the spotlight for each issue with a different artist illustrating the story. The first issue revolves around Raphael in prison, and the second chapter will bring in artist Rafael Albuquerque for a story starring Michelangelo. Leonardo is Issue #3 with artist Cliff Chiang, and Donatello is Issue #4 with artist Chris Burnham.
>"Thank you to all the retailers and fans out there for believing in what we're cooking up with this new series and for supporting the book in such a massive way," stated Aaron. "There are so many cool covers to choose from, and this summer there'll be loads of pizza parties and big events all over the country revolving around this launch and the 40th anniversary of the Ninja Turtles. But at the end of the day, I'm mostly just excited for people to hold the book in their hands and see Joëlle's incredible art and read the beginning of what should be a crazy fun ride of a story."
>"From the comic book creatives to IDW staff and our friends at Paramount, everyone working on this series has truly gone above and beyond to make sure it's an epic and compelling tale that adds to the incredible legacy of the characters that Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird created 40 years ago," remarked IDW Publisher Mark Doyle. "The whole team deserves this success and we couldn't be more grateful for the stunning amount of support we're getting from both fans and retailers. We know this is a TMNT story that'll be one for the ages for fans everywhere, both new and old."
Jason Aaron is cancer, this series is fricked.
Just take comfort that IDW can't afford Aaron for more than a year max and will probably replace him with someone who will work for pennies on the dollar once they can't keep Aaron around. And said replacement will erase, retcon, and undo anything bad Aaron does.
Number 1s always sell well. If it's still carrying all the continuity baggage and not a clean soft reboot numbers will fall, but in general numbers should fall, let's see numbers of how the comic is doing after a few months. The Last Ronin has a lot of hype but I think it's going to die down, the main storyline was already completed, anything else is just that, extra.
