Endgame was just embarrassing for so many reasons, the terrible and I mean really bad cgi anytime an actor was wearing a helmet that had a visor it was very obvious it was just green screened but the worst was Rhodey kneeling over Ironman as he was dying, his head did not match at all the Warmachine body colour grading or something it felt off very bad.
Ok those parts aside, I can't forgive the movie for being almost 3 hours long and most of the first 1 hour was almost pure exposition, that's not a story at that point it's an infomercial on the Avengers Universe.
Unless the studio is willing to run it in theaters for several month's longer than average. Disney kept it open and even added different stingers to it to draw people back in to buy another ticket.
I'm okay with Top Gun: Maverick beating Endgame's box office gross as long as it doesn't knock Avatar off the Number 1 spot (which it won't and thank God for that).

All of the scenes with Jennifer Connelly are on a boat with Maverick hovering alongside in an F-35B, shouting their heartfelt feelings to one another over the roar of the engine. Even the love scene is between two planes.
It was pure, unmitigated kino.

Going in, I thought it was just going to be your bog-standard, formulaic propagandashit. The trailers certainly gave that impression, so imagine my surprise when after the condensed mission story in the first 15 minutes, it totally stepped away from Maverick and became something more like a series of vignettes where random seamen would just be going about their days only for Cruise to show up, go balls deep with some ace one-liners, and then just mav the frick out of somebody. The best part was you never knew who it would be - the focus character or some random sailor in their presence. I liked watching them struggle to perform some semblance of a normal shift after having borne witness to such brutal mavvings.
I was on the edge of my seat, trying to guess who was going to get mavved next. And in what way. Absolute kino.

Endgame was just embarrassing for so many reasons, the terrible and I mean really bad cgi anytime an actor was wearing a helmet that had a visor it was very obvious it was just green screened but the worst was Rhodey kneeling over Ironman as he was dying, his head did not match at all the Warmachine body colour grading or something it felt off very bad.
Ok those parts aside, I can't forgive the movie for being almost 3 hours long and most of the first 1 hour was almost pure exposition, that's not a story at that point it's an infomercial on the Avengers Universe.

It's almost like the movie was a character driven film about a man who faces the tragic consequences of being emotionally underdeveloped and corporeally overdeveloped.
They’re always in the planes in this one. Even when it doesn’t make any sense. When the Admiral wants to talk to Maverick, he jumps in an old F-16 he customized in his spare time and flies alongside Maverick while chewing him out about how the Joint Chiefs are breathing down his neck. The bar scene is set in a hangar with qt waitresses on skates bringing them their drinks like carhops. The piano is in the back of a C-120 and all of them take flight during Rooster’s piano scene while blares out of a monster PA. All of the scenes with Jennifer Connelly are on a boat with Maverick hovering alongside in an F-35B, shouting their heartfelt feelings to one another over the roar of the engine. Even the love scene is between two planes.
It was pure, unmitigated kino.
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie.
Going in, I thought it was just going to be your bog-standard, formulaic propagandashit. The trailers certainly gave that impression, so imagine my surprise when after the condensed mission story in the first 15 minutes, it totally stepped away from Maverick and became something more like a series of vignettes where random seamen would just be going about their days only for Cruise to show up, go balls deep with some ace one-liners, and then just mav the frick out of somebody. The best part was you never knew who it would be - the focus character or some random sailor in their presence. I liked watching them struggle to perform some semblance of a normal shift after having borne witness to such brutal mavvings.
I was on the edge of my seat, trying to guess who was going to get mavved next. And in what way. Absolute kino.
