my apologies for being ignorant. i admittengly only come to this baord for Murder Drones and now Digital Circus threads. Murder Drones threads were pretty slow from episodes 2-5. i thought it would have taken a while for Digital Circus threads to pick up the pace even with an overlapping fanbase. i do recall seeing at least a handful Fionna threads in the catalogue but i wasn't actively paying attention to it

It took MD 10 months to get that much back when Glitch was way, way smaller. Before MD, Glitch's episodes for both its shows would usually get under 1 million views, rarely over. MD set up the growth for Glitch to be where it's at now, and the 7-11 million active watchers of Murder Drones flocked to watch the ACD pilot as soon as it dropped. Glitch is just much bigger now and has an established viewerbase. I wonder what the views will be like for the next MD episode soon after all this boom in discussion.

You.. newbies know that Glitch produces their own shows right? The pilots are mainly just to cast the show premise to the audience and see if they like it. If the pilot's a success they'll eventually make more episodes, just like what happened with Murder Drones. Though, don't expect more episodes of ADC until at least next year. Murder Drones still has to wrap up 2 more episodes of Season 1.

Picked up as in funded, even if Glitch does everything in house they need to generate income from investors.
Funds are acquired in-part by merch sales, which Glitch makes out the ass with MD alone. With there already being ADC merch just for the pilot, there is no reason they'll have more than enough funding for episode production. The only question is how long it'll take after Murder Drones season 1 ends, because presumably they'll do a run of episodes for ADC after that - probably on the same schedule as MD. So one episode every 2-3 months.
i don't think they have investors as such, they get grant and sponsorship money but that's not the same

Pibby was a licensing nightmare that would have cost more than it was worth.
Not only that, but Pibby was effectively unable to stand on its' own as a concept, being far too reliant on its' crossover nature and attempt to be "oh it's the thing you remember but messed up ooooo spooky!" type shit.
The ironic thing is that the biggest point of praise I saw for Pibby as a concept were the original characters. The idea of a kiddy show protagonist losing their innocence alongside a generic villain learning to care and a sidekick needing to step up for them all to become a trio of heroes.
The crossover creepy pasta of licensed characters probably caught people's attention as an aspect of marketing, but it'd ultimately be what dragged down the premise and legally stopped the show from actually going anywhere.
It's interesting how people (read: idiots) love multiverses, crossovers and making everything enormous and interconnected to the point of collapsing under its' own weight, but then forget any actual attempts at substance that inevitably gets buried under the smashing together of metaphorical action figures.
I wouldn't outright blame fans of the concept. Multiverses now are just what the zombie craze was back in the late 2000s. It can be a fun idea, but shows and movies have been pushing them to the point of burnout.
And nothing quickens that burnout faster than big companies smelling a way to sell multiple big franchise at once.

Man I got like instant brainrot from this show and I don't even know why. Besides Pomni I'm really not interested in any of the other characters and I don't even think their designs are that good (except for Gangle, she gets a pass), the premise is interesting but there's really not enough there to grasp onto yet (however I guess it's really well presented?) and the humor doesn't really land that much. Despite all of that I desperately want more; it's like another deltarune situation for me. something about this is like crack to me and i don't know what
I'm in exactly the same position. Maybe it's just that Pomni is cute or that the other-ness of the setting makes for a good escape.
Either way I seem to be fixated despite the flaws.

Not only interest, but a lot of the time it took to develop the pilot included development time for each rig. Jax was apparently one of the hardest to perfect. Now that they’ve got working models for everyone production may actually become quicker as we go
Jax is a character designed for being rendered and drawn in two dimensions, rendered in three, with all the headaches that comes with. His facial rig in particular probably has a lot of super densely packed bits that make it dynamic but also very cluttered.
