Since we know that countless other people before fell into the circus and succumbed to their madness this has been going on for a while.
He was probably self-aware at first but has been trapped for (in-circus time) centuries so his memories about the void and his own person became corrupted.
Most other people aren't actually trapped though - they probably voluntarily agreed to enter this space either for science (money or research) or as an opt-out alternative to suicide in the real world.
This option would be to put someone into a coma in a way that does not require medical monitoring/making someone 'disappear' the easy way (bluescreening their brain in a non-violent way and waiting for their physical body to die).
They just don't recall that due to the amnesia.
The censoring is strictly enforced as Caine wants everything to be family-friendly.
Why? Either he believes that they are being watched or they actually are and he just forgot about that -really- being the case.
Also, only one 'role' can probably exist at the same time because in a show or game two characters shouldn't be too similar.
Hence why Pomni could only show up after Kaufmo went past his despair event horizon (I know Pomni is technically a jester but still).
So they might be watched by coworkers of Caine in some kind of fricked-up we're separating people's consciousness/soul from their body kind of thing.

not only are the characters just brain scans of real people, but the void contains stored brain scans of a massive number of people who are being gradually cycled through the Circus. The real world is dead and gone, and has been for a long time. I think kaufmo abstracting at the same time pomni showed up is a genuine coincidence, but that there is probably a limit to how many can be "awake" at once.

I agree that it would be more narratively interesting if the originals were fine, since the cast would have to cope with not being the original versions of themselves or having a way to return to their old lives. I would really like it, just not as much as the world outside being dead.
My issue with the real world being okay is that it leaves room for people to hope that maybe the cast can get put in robot bodies or something. Everything outside the Circus being fricked makes it unquestionably clear that escape is impossible. I feel like that's important, since this seems like it's going to be about coping with meaninglessness, and that message falters if someone can just say "well what if they leave the meaningless situation". (A sufficiently skilled writer could probably go for the "the real world is meaningless too" angle, but that would be hard to pull off without feeling like edgy teenager bullshit). It's like reading out the trolley problem, and some dipshit goes "well what if I just put something there to stop the trolley?". It leaves people room to miss the point.

i think you can get that across without making the show post-apocalyptic, and further if the show is meant to be about dealing with meaninglessness then the cast being the last survivors of humanity severely damages that in my opinion

The show will rely extremely heavily on the tale of Cain and Abel for its deeper plot - with Caine taking the role of Cain. Whether or not Caine is just straight up the actual Cain or if the name is symbolic is completely irrelevant. The Circus takes the form of the place of eternal banishment away from home, as every single character is trapped there and none of them feel a sense of belonging - they all innately recognize that this is a foreign land that they should not be. >Caine did something terrible to an Able-like business partner and was cast to the Circus for his crime; here, he cares for those who either accidentally fell into or were purposefully sent to the same punishment. >This was never designed as a punishment for Caine, and his name is symbolism for the inhabitants
Those who were sent there were those who committed wrongs of the same gravity as Cain: murder and feigned innocence.
Pomni, with her Christ-like symbolism, will be the one to redeem those in the circus, resurrect those lost in despair (Abstracted), and show them the way to Paradise.

I'm not, I just like the characters a lot and they're both fun and easy to draw. It reminds me a bit of how I felt about Deltarune when it was first coming out, the cast just caught my attention (and the music too). I don't tend to get completely obsessed and manic over fandom stuff but I do think it's funny how something so genuinely meh can be supported by a handful of fun character designs and dynamics. Also, Caine is a cute and has made it onto my husbando roster
A pure software world, specially one that's implied to be able to run on a single server like TADC's, can be easily modified, saved, copied, replaced, etc. If theyre mere copies and the original still also lives, that's even less reason for their pure existence to matter. Ergo Its value is nigh null.
Think of it of this way, if an operating system melts down and hard crashes, one can just load a backup and its a null problem. Software is inexpensive.
If some sort of 4 dimensional being or whatever could do all of that to our world I wouldnt see a reason why he should consider our world of any value either.

More importantly, the fact that there won't be any new content for another year or so will throttle the activity around it quite a bit. I don't think the hype when the serialized episodes start coming out will be as big, even if it might still be bigger than Murder Drones.

When MLP was airing, you couldn't even go to another SITE without seeing MLP. It was in every thread on every website.

In Gnosticism the core belief is that God is evil and created this reality so that we all suffer and are kept here. It is very interesting how Caine is the ring master, as in the bible he kills Abel and God punishes him to wander the Earth. It is also known that Cain and his progeny built the first cities, and the fallen angels taught them forbidden knowledge. This fits in how Caine in ADC tries to build and create stuff for the other characters. It is also interesting how Pomni is used as a symbology of Jesus, in the crucifixition and in the last scene during dinner. This points her as being the one to "fix" the mess, however Jesus was betrayed by Judas. When they are all eating at the dinner table, t is very apperant that it is based off the last supper, however there is only 6 player characters (not counting Caine) so who will be Judas?
They will probably introduce someone new in the next episode.

To represent a fraction of what the characters are going through I’ve been listening to the opening theme for 3 days. Every waking moment, even when I work.
I am still at a state where the happy tune can cheer me up, or sometimes faking happiness makes me feel the part for real, though only at the naming part of the song. After that I begin to zone out. Though I cheat sometimes by listening to remixed versions of it.

I cant really think of any fat that needed trimming that isnt subjective jokes. The gags itself was nicely animated and short, and im glad it wasn't rapid fire cursing or fricking ad-libbing stammering or YELLING AND BEING A DICK or tell joke dead air/funny sound effect and comedic timing response.

Caine is not part of the AI but falsely believes so.
Instead he is the first human to get his consciousness trapped.
Since we know that countless other people before fell into the circus and succumbed to their madness this has been going on for a while.
He was probably self-aware at first but has been trapped for (in-circus time) centuries so his memories about the void and his own person became corrupted.
Most other people aren't actually trapped though - they probably voluntarily agreed to enter this space either for science (money or research) or as an opt-out alternative to suicide in the real world.
This option would be to put someone into a coma in a way that does not require medical monitoring/making someone 'disappear' the easy way (bluescreening their brain in a non-violent way and waiting for their physical body to die).
They just don't recall that due to the amnesia.
The censoring is strictly enforced as Caine wants everything to be family-friendly.
Why? Either he believes that they are being watched or they actually are and he just forgot about that -really- being the case.
Also, only one 'role' can probably exist at the same time because in a show or game two characters shouldn't be too similar.
Hence why Pomni could only show up after Kaufmo went past his despair event horizon (I know Pomni is technically a jester but still).

I agree that it would be more narratively interesting if the originals were fine, since the cast would have to cope with not being the original versions of themselves or having a way to return to their old lives. I would really like it, just not as much as the world outside being dead.
My issue with the real world being okay is that it leaves room for people to hope that maybe the cast can get put in robot bodies or something. Everything outside the Circus being fricked makes it unquestionably clear that escape is impossible. I feel like that's important, since this seems like it's going to be about coping with meaninglessness, and that message falters if someone can just say "well what if they leave the meaningless situation". (A sufficiently skilled writer could probably go for the "the real world is meaningless too" angle, but that would be hard to pull off without feeling like edgy teenager bullshit). It's like reading out the trolley problem, and some dipshit goes "well what if I just put something there to stop the trolley?". It leaves people room to miss the point.

Hm. As bizarre as this is, I feel like this wouldn't be that bad of a fate if you eventually realized this and went on to accept that you are a digital clone of someone. Sure, it might be unsettling for a while, but in the end you're still your own person with your own thoughts and experiences split from your mind-donor's own.

The show will rely extremely heavily on the tale of Cain and Abel for its deeper plot - with Caine taking the role of Cain. Whether or not Caine is just straight up the actual Cain or if the name is symbolic is completely irrelevant. The Circus takes the form of the place of eternal banishment away from home, as every single character is trapped there and none of them feel a sense of belonging - they all innately recognize that this is a foreign land that they should not be. >Caine did something terrible to an Able-like business partner and was cast to the Circus for his crime; here, he cares for those who either accidentally fell into or were purposefully sent to the same punishment.

I'm not, I just like the characters a lot and they're both fun and easy to draw. It reminds me a bit of how I felt about Deltarune when it was first coming out, the cast just caught my attention (and the music too). I don't tend to get completely obsessed and manic over fandom stuff but I do think it's funny how something so genuinely meh can be supported by a handful of fun character designs and dynamics. In Gnosticism the core belief is that God is evil and created this reality so that we all suffer and are kept here. It is very interesting how Caine is the ring master, as in the bible he kills Abel and God punishes him to wander the Earth. It is also known that Cain and his progeny built the first cities, and the fallen angels taught them forbidden knowledge. This fits in how Caine in ADC tries to build and create stuff for the other characters. It is also interesting how Pomni is used as a symbology of Jesus, in the crucifixition and in the last scene during dinner. This points her as being the one to "fix" the mess, however Jesus was betrayed by Judas. When they are all eating at the dinner table, t is very apperant that it is based off the last supper, however there is only 6 player characters (not counting Caine) so who will be Judas?

To represent a fraction of what the characters are going through I’ve been listening to the opening theme for 3 days. Every waking moment, even when I work.

less is more doesn't make sense to me because there wasn't much at all
I thought it was pretty streamlined and to the point. From arriving/intro branching to 2 plot, pomni's story and zooble, each one telling the rules of the show, 1) rules of abstraction
2)the 'game' itself 3) that there is no real exit.
I cant really think of any fat that needed trimming that isnt subjective jokes. The gags itself was nicely animated and short, and im glad it wasn't rapid fire cursing or fricking ad-libbing stammering or YELLING AND BEING A DICK or tell joke dead air/funny sound effect and comedic timing response.
