60m production was bullshit. According to Loren himself it was $38m. With 20 to market (proving Disney cheaped out in that department)

I somehow don't believe that either. 20 million to market it? Where?
20m is very cheap. Most ad campaigns in the US alone tend to be 40 to 50, with another 30-60 internationally. This film wasn't even released in a lot of international markets so 20m is believable.
When I'm hungover, I spend the whole day on instagram a whole bunch.
For weeks before and after.
I wouldn't imagine that'd be most of the budget but it was consistent.
Kind of a moot point when it still didn't make its budget back even at $38m.
Well, it was predicted from the start to earn 20 million at the box office, which implies it didn't need to break-even to cover its budget — given nowadays that's covered by streaming and the various economic advantages of a television series having a feature film. So 32 million worldwide is pretty alright for a niche film.
Did the movie flop? I thought this bland show had some weirdo cult following.
It’s a non-anime 2D film past the year 2012, of course it flopped
If Bob’s Burgers was an anime, it would be on its 12th movie by now.
Has a cult following ever been profitable?
It's fine to be curious about this movie's budget since its production and relation with Disney has been such a mystery for so long, but it feels like a lot of you care a little too much about something ultimately so insignificant.
Even with all the outside forces working against it, the movie made it to completion, it premiered in actual theaters, and it was well-received by both longtime fans and newbies alike. That's what matters. I couldn't care less if it was a financial flop. I loved the movie, and I'm sure it brought at least a little more life into the fandom that's been waning down for years now.
I agree, I was mainly wondering how much a 2d film like this would cost today. 38m is pretty good. Princess and the Frog was over 100.
I would stop by Bob's Burgers every day just to see what this absolute angel's up to.
Ikr, isn't she just the greatest?
Mort?
Mort is
such a beauty to the eyes. <3
True. The movie was just a victory lap for the shows legacy
This. The Family Guy and American Dad! Movies both got cancelled and the Simpsons sequel is dead in the water, but somehow, Bob's Burgers made it across the finish line and was critically beloved.
the Family Guy movie never got cancelled, Seth is busy on The Orville and the Ted TV series to work on a Family Guy movie, have no idea where this American Dad movie came from, Simpsons Movie 2 probably never gonna happen.
>Ted TV series
What, I’ve never heard of this
It’s the best Bob’s Burgers content in years, that alone makes it worth it
/co/'s been very weird about this movie and I can't even pin down how they're weird about it, they just are. Maybe it's because it was delayed for so long? But I doubt anyone, even people working on the movie, expected it to be a box office smash and scoop up a bunch of awards.
>I couldn't care less if it was a financial flop. I loved the movie, and I'm sure it brought at least a little more life into the fandom that's been waning down for years now.
How the frick that a movie nobody sawed or cared about brought any life into the the fandom? This is the very reason people are concerned over it because there was actually no point for it to exist or even be released in theaters outside sheer nepotism and hubris.
>The Family Guy and American Dad! Movies both got cancelled and the Simpsons sequel is dead in the water
These were never in the works to begin with. The only reason why a Bob's Burgers Movie exists is because Loren wanted to make it not because there was a demand for it. As far as anyone is concerned nobody at Fuzz Door or Film Roman want waste production time on making a movie as oppose to another season.
I want to inseminate these two.
Same
I think you mean these twos.
I wish we'd gotten more posters. The marketing for one of the few TV cartoon-to-film adaptations we've gotten in years was very underwhelming. Really pales in comparison to the sort of push The Simpsons Movie got all those years back.
Why did they use naked Bart as a selling point?
Gotta save Lisa for the sequel.
Only way they could top Bart's penis is Lisa being pregnant for the movie and having an uncensored birth scene at the end but that kind of scene would be an instant NC-17
Naked boy funny. Plus it easily catches your attention in trailers and other promo material, making you wonder just how wild the movie would end up being.
Soundtrack is great. I hope we get the villain's song officially released soon.
The movie really need another two or three songs at least. I mean we had the the Sunny Side of Summer, Lucky Ducks, and Grover’s song. Is that really it? Am I missing any? That’s just too few for a musical, and also a shame because they were all done pretty well.
I mean for comparison South Park had a had what, 8 or 9? Sure the production quality was lower, but it really kept up the flow.
I FRICKING CALLED IT
Knew that 60 million was absurdly high for a 2D film on this level. 2D is too cheap for that much money on something this simplified. The only reason I even doubted is that Simpson's was 70 million due to the stupid high paychecks of the cast, and maybe the BB crew pulled some contract shittery since it's got so many seasons.
>2022
>I am forgotten...
>no beach episode
Lame
Why would you spend 20 million on marketing
Because marketing isn't cheap dumbass.
It's substantially cheaper than animating though.
>With 20 to market (proving Disney cheaped out in that department)
Movie marketing rule of thumb is for the marketing budget to equal half of production budget. So $20 million marketing for a $38 million dollar film is right on the dot.
This means Bob's Burgers breaks even at $120 million. It's never getting there.
>20m to market
what the frick? where were they selling, europe?
Marketing tends to be incredibly expensive for any product.
Like jesus christ stop being so fricking sheltered anon.
>stop being so fricking sheltered anon
Black person I've worked with the budgets for these films and a 2:1 budget for resources to marketing is fricking moronic lmao
Anon you clearly are a child because anyone with a functional brain can realize how the cost of marketing adds up. Design costs money, materials cost money, production costs miney, distributing cost money.
If you don't make double what production cost, you ain't even cutting even.
>60m production was bullshit.
>It was actually 58m!
So it still flopped.
ok, now it makes sense because 60 for cheap 2d is insane. Yes i know they improved their 2d but bob`s burguer appeal is tied to low tier animation
