That art is so bad, WW looks like a man in drag.

She does, and it looks unintentional. I can't decide if that's for better or worse.

    >it makes Wonder Woman inherently a third wheel in the dynamic
Only reason why she's there is for the female rep. Other than that, she's a bad fit with the others.

Batman and Superman are great friends, they appear in each other's stuff all the time and a lot of their lore is tied together. They are the "Worlds Finest" after all. Wonder Woman doesn't get that, she constantly has to get compared to the two, to warrant her placement there. In crossover stuff no one gives a shit about her rogues. It's almost always related to the other two. They should've let her and Aquaman have there own little World's Finest type thing instead.

The reason why the "trinity" doesn't work is because it's not the real trinity. And the reason why Robin worked as more than "Batman's sidekick" in the context of the trinity is exactly why Wonder Woman doesn't work.

Because the real trinity is Robin instead. It's not dark/light/woman, it's dark/light/youth. I don't feel like elaborating further but Diana doesn't fulfill a third type of escapism

      Superman: can kill, doesn’t usually
      Wonder Woman: warrior; kills
      Batman: doesn’t kill

      Great dynamic:
      >Alien, Demigoddess, Human
      >Hope, Truth, Justice

      >Farmboy reporter, princess warrior, billionaire detective vigilante

      >Strongest, kindest, smartest

All of those end up diminishing Superman or Batman in order to shoehorn Wonder Woman, instead of working with their existing character traits. Robin worked better simply because he was "the kid" and could work with either without disrupting their existing characters and feel unnatural. There's a reason why the original origin for "Nightwing" was because he wanted to honour Superman as well as Batman, the three meant that much together.
You could write a Wonder Woman that works with the other two, but that would require making her a much different character than she is now, in fact probably closer to how she was before she was reworked into a shitty Xena clone.

          Counterpoint: no it doesn't.

Look I'm not saying Diana ain't an absolute peach but c'mon now, Clark's pretty much the ultimate nice guy.

The DC Amazon's aren't 1:1 the Amazons of myth.
          Clark being the nice
Sometime after post-crisis Clark and Diana basically swapped personalities

How about, nobody kills but everyone imagines being a kid doing all the stuff they wish they could. Jesus Christ these are comic book characters

She actually fits perfectly. Superman is the man of tomorrow. Batman is stuck in the past, only a vigilante because his parents were killed when he was a kid. Wonder Woman is in the present, grounding the two.

Batman and Superman are paired together generally because they are more popular. And true, they do have a better dynamic. But that doesn't mean Wonder Woman shouldn't be compared to the two, and she can fit into the group thematically, which is why I mentioned the past/present/future thing.

Matt Wagner is such a strange case to me because he sucked hard when he started but had a good sense of design, ended up being a solid painter after a while but you can still see him make complete frickups and his fundamentals are built on kind of shoddy work

You clearly haven't read or watched anything with the Trinity then. Diana is the wise and flawless queen who deigns to condescend to these bumbling chuds. Also Ra's al Ghul threatens to rape her in this story LOL
