>Why are millennials so excited about saying the word "frick"
Noticed the same thing in "Only Murders In The Building", where Selena's character says "frick" all the time and I (a 55 year old) found it odd and jarring.
Making a big deal out of saying swear words whenever and wherever you want as if it was a revolutionary act was a boomer and gen x thing.
The consequence was that it just became less offensive and has become safe and mundane.
it was the transition period from when television and radio was still held to legally enforced moral standards and the brave new world of faux freedumb of speech that we now enjoy in our dystopian culturally subversive media slop that we are forced to consume on a daily basis.
basically, frick was the big-kid adult slang word that millenials were taught was 'cool' by the entertainment industry. The regulations had been relaxed to the point where it was allowable to have a few explicatives in any given show or movie before it was given a more adult rating, so the industry made sure to use their quota's of 'frick' at every given oppertunity.
It just seems like since the middle of the 2010s there's this forced push by millennials to say "frick" as every other word, even though it hasn't been a big deal for like 20 years
I know people who actually read that kind of books, like unironically
I was at the airport once and saw that like four titles had “F*CK” in them. Such transparent le edgy lite for the npc masses to consume.
I remember being a teenager and buying cds with parent advisory stickers
and being like... awww yeahhh
> it's the wide eyed, borderline neurotic, outcast male who gets saved by a girl character
It goes back all the way to Harold and Maude yet there's no name for this trope
reddit shit for homosexuals and morons is what i call it
I thought it was called the "Manic Pixie dreamgirl" trope?
That describes the girl but not the guy anon was referring to.
I was referring to the depressed, cynical male character who finally appreciates life when he meets the girl.
Ohhhh, I dunno, sadsack?
That's more like Charlie Brown only he's got no time for b***hes.
No, moron. It goes all the way back to Raskolnikov and Sonya.
And no, this ISN'T a bad thing.

They don't
hollywood think they do, but they don't
I turned off Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny about a third through because they said the frick word too much. I think I was 11.
I deleted a song off my iPod because the guy said frick in it when I was a kid
