Denis is more consistent and most of his stuff is great even though he gets carried by Deakins a lot, peak Nolan is even better but he wastes his time making just dumbass shit a lot of the time
Incendies is his best film and better than anything Nolan made. Nolan's best film is Insomnia, and it's the only one he didn't write.

I personally think his work is fairly unremarkable. Unlike modernists like Cameron or Kubrick, Nolan's purist attitude is what keeps his films from pushing the envelope. Therefore as time goes on, and as people grow more and more tired of these pastiche retro movies, I think Nolan will fall to the wayside. His Batman movies have already started to age badly. Unless he makes his masterpiece (he hasn't yet), at best he'll end up somewhere in the Brian De Palma camp of 'mostly forgettable Hitchcock wannabe'.
>His Batman movies have already started to age badly.
No one outside of Internet contrarians believe this. At best, it applies to TDKR. It also ignores how certainly films of his like The Prestige and Interstellar have grown in reputation.
> Unlike modernists like Cameron or Kubrick, Nolan's purist attitude is what keeps his films from pushing the envelope.
My man Cameron's Avatar is the greatest example of a film aging poorly.
>Cameron's Avatar
Fine but T1 is way better than most Nolan '''films'''. >At best, it applies to TDKR.
Begins has poor editing and hand-to-hand combat scenes.
Nta but Avatar looks mediocre. It completely lost its lustre. Actually regret rewatching at home. Avatar and Gravity are two films that lose the most when watched outside of theaters.
They both are more focused on looks. Nolan pretends to have deeeep meaning, but it's mostly bullshit. Nolan's best film was Memento. It's not going overboard, the script is well contained and it makes sense. After that, he got obsessed with sort of moebius strip kind of stories.
The thing with Villeneuve is he did a lot of different stuff. Lately he seems more focused on science fiction, but Prisoners was a great thriller. Sicario was pretty good. Enemy was predictable and the end was just shit.
First contact was cliché and boring. Blade Runner had good to great moments. Dune felt hollow and pretentious. But Villeneuve overall has better scripts and better acting. So he wins.
Is the debate about whose worse by chance?
dennis didnt even direct the best sicario movie

Probably Denis's best scene.

Villememe can't make movies. Everything he makes is empty and cold. He's particularly incompetent with sci fi
He hasn't seen Prisoners.
How do you know that poster is a man?
it's over for penisview. dunc has ended him
It's not up for debate.
This settles it. Sarah Gadon was in a Villeneuve movie. Nolan cant compete.
Villneuve is McDonald's Nolan
>blade runner movie made by nolen
Probably kino tbh, interstellar had bad ideas tho
Try to imagen a blade runner movie made by nolen and try to imagen a version of interstellar made by Denis and you knwo which one is better.

Holy retard you should get your eyes checked and brain scanned but you probably don’t have one if you think this way

Completely disagree that it looks mediocre but you’re right that it looses some of its charm when not watched in theaters (especially in 3d)
Denis is more dishonest by far
woah
peter jackson lost a LOT Of weight
good for him

convoluted?
Yes.
I've never seen a Nolan movie as bad as Dune.
You can hear what people say in Villeneuve movies and they don’t have cringe dialogues like:
>You’re a big guy
Automatic win for Villeneuve.
>they don’t have cringe dialogues like:
>>You’re a big guy
Instead he has cringe dialogue like "Yeah, thar just happened".
The plane scene is unironically one of the greatest moments of modern cinema
Pre-TDKR - I'd have to go with Nolan.
Post-TDKR - I'd have to go with Nolan.
chris would destroy him in 2 rounds at most, KO

Doesn't even sound like Lynch.
Both are not great in their own right but Nolan definitely has more stuff normies liked and stuff that was watchable.
