this was so stupid, especially since Black Mirror has been the new Twilight Zone for almost a decade

Someone told me this to get me to watch black mirror, I have ex comminuted that person from my life as Black Mirror was one of the worst things i have ever watch and nothing like The Twighlight Zone, Black Mirror is just as bad as the new twighlight one maybe worse.
I wish death upon you for all the poor souls you've tricked into watching it with that line

Did you not even like The Entire History of You. One of the few legit good episodes.

Very different vibes to both shows. Twilight Zone is truly haunting in a quiet and contemplative way, the episodes stay with you.
Black Mirror only has two good episodes and I’m sure without me even mentioning them by name, you know which ones I’m talking about

black mirror might make me feel worse and more depressed because of how hard some of the episodes go, like some contraption where someone is being tortured for all of eternity or something.
twilight zone is honestly scarier though. It makes me feel more uneasy and has more immersion in it because of the tone, music, and subtleness about it. It's not so in your face. It's like reading a book, the ideas stick with you longer. It can be a bit boring what with my attention span being so fricked now but it's still better.

I couldn’t get into Black Mirror. I think what so many writers seems to misunderstand when trying to recreate/imitate Twilight Zone is that while the bizarre scenarios and twists are the main draw, what stands the rest of time is that it told stories. The twists and science fiction were placed on top of compelling characters, strong dialogue, and basic moral themes, not to mention great performances.

    >One wrote stories that managed to balance interesting science fiction concepts with introspections in basic morality, with the only time using any real world politics was whenever using Nazis to make a specific point, otherwise kept the messages broad enough to be timeless
    >The other banks on modern fears and social “us versus them” mentalities to tell convoluted and ultimately hollow stories that are only praised because they address the “right” modern topic without actually saying anything of value

Also the reboot TZ episode about the comedians was one of the worst episodes of anything.

Submit it for your perusal. A man who was a colorblind anti-bigot makes a classic tv show. More than 50 years pass and his show is rebooted by a progressive anti-white bigot.

Not enough people appreciate how little shit The Rod took from network executives and how he stood up for the people that worked for and with him.

There's actually a great James Baldwin quote about Swiss villages in particular:

I say that the culture of these people controls me-but they can scarcely be held responsible for European culture. America comes out of Europe, but these people have never seen America, nor have most of them seen more of Europe than the hamlet at the foot of their mountain. Yet they move with an authority which I shall never have; and they regard me, quite rightly, not only as a stranger in the village but as a suspect latecomer, bearing no credentials, to everything they have-however unconsciously-inherited. For this village, even were it incomparably more remote and incredibly more primitive, is the West, the West onto which I have been so strangely grafted. These people cannot be, from the point of view of power, strangers anywhere in the world; they have made the modem world, in effect, even if they do not know it. The most illiterate among them is related, in away that I am not, to Dante, Shakespeare, Michelangelo, Aeschylus, Da Vinci, Rembrandt, and Racine; the cathedral at Chartres says something to them which it cannot say to me, as indeed would New York's Empire State Building, should anyone here ever see it. Out of their hymns and dances come Beethoven and Bach. Go back a few centuries and they are in their full glory-but I am in Africa, watching the conquerors arrive.

Why did half of Atlanta S03 seem like it was written for Peele's Twilight Zone instead?

      Anonymous

That half of Atlanta did a better job at being Twilight Zone episodes than all of Jordan Peele's seasons of the actual Twilight Zone, maybe they should let quietly Donald Glover take over Twilight Zone.
