It takes three and a half hours to do what The Sopranos manages to do in like two scenes. Feels superfluous, he shoulda stopped making gangster pictures afterGoodfellas.
Scorsese's best and one of the greatest 21st century movies. It's grandiose and has a tragic plot which is even more poignant when we consider ghat the directors and the cast are in their twilight years.
It's pretty great. Probably the last movie of its kind. The fact that all the criticism of it you read on Cinemaphile is of the shallowest variety should tell you something.
The de-aging tech is front-and-centre throughout the film. Scorcese continually puts this special effect into our view. So, if the effect is not good, that is a problem deserving of comment.
Yeah but it's a shallow criticism. It's like shitting on Godzilla because it's a rubber suit. Nobody cares and it's irrelevant to the story being told.
They do, but not to the extent than anything less than perfect realism detracts from everything else. There is a ton to love about the Irishman if you can get over the effects.
>Probably the last movie of its kind. The fact that all the criticism of it you read on Cinemaphile is of the shallowest variety should tell you something
Exactly why he is right. These are complaints fueled by pure autism. I literally never even had a single issue with this scene or the de-aging.
Yeah obviously they were supposed to be way younger but I can see the directors vision because I'm not autistic.
>Probably the last movie of its kind. The fact that all the criticism of it you read on Cinemaphile is of the shallowest variety should tell you something
>Masterpiece
It's a great film sure, but very flawed and certainly not Marty's best stuff
The last part where they're now just weak old men and the ending got me good though
It should've been a masterpiece.
The beat down scene is just an clear example of the film's major flaw. DeNiro is an old man. No amount of cgi can hide that. So you get ridiculous meme scenes like "here's that kid I was telling you about".
The way he walks, the way he talks, it's clearly an old man. They should've hired a body double and cgi'd his face on top. But Scorsese just wanted to work with his buddy and the film is worse for it.
Additionally, it was so fricking bloated. It should've 2.5 hours. 3 at a push. Scorsese was given too much leeway when a competent editor should've forced him to cut it down massively.
But when it's good, it's great. Shame
>made a masterpiece >bunch of moron asscracks on the internet call it shit because of ONE out of place scene that normal men wouldnt even notice because they were paying attention to the cute little girl in that same scene >tfw
>masterpiece
HAHAHAHAHA when a perfect movie like HEAT (!995) exists you cant. call Irishman a masterpiece >ONE out of place scene that normal men wouldnt even notice
You mean the whole movie that overstays its runtime to tell such a simple story with awful deaging effects?
It takes three and a half hours to do what The Sopranos manages to do in like two scenes. Feels superfluous, he shoulda stopped making gangster pictures afterGoodfellas.
I thought it was boring. no action at all aswell. pathetic, really
Never watched it and never will. Way too long for boring gangster crap.

its dunkakino
Tbh, The last half hour of this movie is even better than Goodfellas or Casino.
worth the price of admission for the pesci and pacino scenes during the testimonial dinner
You're supposed to listen to it like an audiobook
I’ve watched it five times
It's not a masterpiece. It's way too long.
Al Pacino killed it though, like he always does.
>Al Pacino killed it though, like he always does.
based and pacino pilled

No homie
Yes it is. I don't care to elaborate further because your urban language suggests you'd be better off watching NBA games
Haha you big mad cuh, its an actual low point for Scorsese.
Holy brap sniffsniffsniffsniff
AY' I'M MAKIN' SOULLESS SPECTACLE SLOP MASQUERADING AS A MEANINGFUL ARTISTIC STATEMENT OVA HERE.
when they speak Italian, it was absolutely pathetic. cringe. completely unnecessary.
Ya' late.
There was traffic.
Correct. And it makes capeshitters seethe uncontrollably.
The de-aging tech was done terribly
I enjoyed it when it was new but the subsequent memes have made it difficult to go back and watch it again in seriousness.

Yeah it's not like visuals matter in a MOVIE
>story structure, plot, script, character arcs, none of this stuff matters
>it's all about the VISUALS man
>this is your brain on capeshit
Those losers are getting excited because they think the characters are their friends. It's not about visual clarity.

nah man, I love The Irishman but the de aging shit and De Niro moving like a sloth absolutely pulls you out of the movie

Boring ass movie and all the main actors are way too old

What a dumb c**t
It wasn't great but Scorcese mostly managed to do his thing and not frick up.
a masterpiece of the Ethnic Criminal genre
I thought it was great, but I also watched it over the course of 3 days, like a miniseries.
It's a taojjbtcrf ripoff
