So there isn't a twist like he was cooking humans or anything? The chefs just kill the guests because they were butthurt?

Anya isn't one of the privileged buttholes. One of the foodies had his date cancel, so he hires Ayna (an escort) to accompany him. The Chef recognizes Anya as fellow working class and doesn't really want to kill her, though she obviously thinks what he's doing is wrong. The crux of the movie is their relationship.

The hooker wasn't supposed to be there. Her john broke up with his gf and then hired her to go to the dinner because the restaurant only took reservations for two people.

In the script, the end is when Anya telks the chef that his food sucks and demends a cheeseburger. This is supposed to be profound for some fricking reason so the chef makes her a cheeseburger and lets her go. Does this hapoen in the movie. Also, in the old script, Anya is a high class hooker who used to frick the rich old man so that was kind of a twist but they took it out in the new script

Yes, but they expand on the script. When Anya goes into the chef's cabin she sees a few old pictures of him and the only one he's smiling in shows him working as a fry cook at a burger joint
            >Also, in the old script, Anya is a high class hooker who used to frick the rich old man so that was kind of a twist but they took it out in the new script
This made it into the movie. Instead of being the foodie's wife, she's back to being a prostitute.

Both of these happen in the movie. The cheeseburger was meaningful to the Chef because his first job was at McDonalds. Anya describes her previous encounter with the rich letch.

Well looks like they improved on it a bit more and it really needed it. There was no context for the whole burger thing in the scripts IIRC.The first script was very amatuerish and it really felt like the writers had no real knowledge of food/restruant culture and didn't know how to write dialogue that felt like actual humans were talking. The second draft I read improved on those things greatly but it stilll felt like a weak/stupid plot. How did this even get picked up?

              >The chefs just kill the guests because they were butthurt?
Yes and the old script also featured Daniel Radcliffe, the actor as a xharacter. The chef wanted to kill him because he hated his movie Victor Frankenstein. I guess this was supposed to be funny. Fricking cringe

                >How did this even get picked up?
In the film, the prostitute breaks into the chef's home and finds that he's miserable in all his photos except the one where he cooks burgers. She then realized that was his passion.

                >The chef wanted to kill him because he hated his movie Victor Frankenstein. I guess this was supposed to be funny. Fricking cringe
This also was in the film, but instead of Daniel Radcliffe it was a made up actor with a made up bad movie. The actor even protests saying he didn't write or direct it, the chef just says "Don't care you ruined my Sunday". He then tells his date that she deserves to die because she didn't have to take out college loans.

Suicide by hanging. He's freaking about about the whole experience the entire time, apparently he knew from the beginning they were all going to die anyway but still obsessed over it. The chef then asks him to cook something, he does really excitedly but it was terrible. The chef tells him his cooking sucks and he walks off and hangs himself.

I actively fantasize that the movie then ends because chef tells everyone he just ruined the art by making good food so he tells the staff that they should just kill themselves and let the rest of them go.

The movie should've ended with the cheeseburger humiliation. What should've been the ending if they really wanted the eat the rich, chef was really a killer twist (which already wasn't a twist, and I would have done otherwise but whatever) was have this:

                >Chef gets humiliated with the burger moment
                >Re-evaluates himself and his actions, that this treatment of food as some hoity toity art form was the reason he no longer enjoyed it
                >Starts to actually cook proper food for everyone before easing up and letting everyone go, is a bit in shambles and even the other cooks aren't sure what's going on
                >Says he'll do the desert course, opens the doors
                >as everyone walks out, he burns the place down in humiliation rather than the actual ending where he holds to his ideology
                >Everyone walks outside, stranded on the island, re-evaluating how they got where they are, movie ends.

It's still not a good ending, but it makes more sense.

The whole point of the scene where they pay for the meal is that the diners have accepted their fate. They've tried everything, come up short every time, and the chef may have even done a decent job of convincing them that they deserve to die.

        Pretty much

Rich privileged foodies pay a bunch of money to go to a secluded island and eat food cooked by a famous chef, chef is asshurt that they don't give him enough respect for cooking food, despite the fact that they all worship him, he and his cooking crew kill them all one by one. The worst part was there was no twist, and it was exactly what was on the tin, he kills the people for not appreciating him and everyone commits suicide except for the girl who asked for a cheeseburger. It's so pathetic, nobody fights back, nobody stands up for themselves, and in the end all the diners get turned into human smores and get burned alive as the restaurant burns down, and they just sit and accept it despite the only thing holding them down is a jacket made of marshmallows.

There was also barely any motivation to kill the people other than be an butthole. While there were people who committed fraud and others who cheated on their spouse, this one pair he doesn't like because he thought an actor was just in a shitty movie that ruined his day, and he didn't like another girl who didn't have to take out loans for college.

You think this was Mark Mylod metaphorically talking about himself and what he thinks of movie culture?

This was one of the Blacklist screenplays from 2019 or some shit. Anyone read them? They're usually cringe as frick

Multiple people have brought up the screenplay itt. I've both read it and seen the movie. The main differences:

They completely change the ending. In the script, there is a documentary crew filming the entire dinner. After the restaurant burns and everyone but the ayylmao dies, first responders in the morning find the chef's head, hands holding a copy of the menu, and a tape of the dinner in a fireproof safe. In the movie, the chef dies in the fire.

In the script, the female chef forces all of the male diners to drop their pants and underwear and eat her course out of dog bowls with their genitals exposed. In the movie, they replace this with a moronic game of hide-and-seek where the male diners get a 45 second head start to run from the kitchen staff.

In the script, Anya is a wife in a loveless marriage to her foodie husband pining for the days when their relationship was good. In the movie (and the older version of the script) she is a prostitute who is accompanying the man while being paid.

In the script, the foodie is forced to use literal shit in his dish after "asking" for it as an ingredient. He is then "demoted" to dishwasher for being a shit chef and he does that job until the restaurant burns down.

Overall, I would say the film is worse than the final script. The only improvement is them going back to the hooker storyline (which was in the original script anyways).

The changed stuff from the script would have made it edgier, but it wouldn't have saved such an unsubtle, cringe story.

How did the Orcs have the concept of a menu? Did they have Orc restaurants?

Don't care if it is, I watch media on a point based system
    Interesting trailer is 1 point
It "seems cool" to me is 5 points
Critics like it is 0 points
Critics call it a must watch is -2 points
Cinemaphile likes it...1 point if it seems normal, -5 points if it seems "arthouse", -9999 points if it seems like pedoshit
If someone tells me I get to see breasts, that's 3 points
Full female nudity is 10 points, doesn't count if she's wearing a fake bush to cover up, and full nude from back only is 5 points only
Horror or action or fantasy is +1 point, romcom or drama is -1
For a modern audience etcetc -30 points
From a studio heavily associated with that esg score bullshit, -15 by itself
Race or gender swap characters -25
Woman pees in it +5, +10 if main character
You can actually see her peeing and it's not some fake lame scene +99
And she's Asian or some exotic tribal gene group +10
Director or actors have some dumb shit to say about muh social message -99

I usually don't watch anything below a 5 or so

If that was me in this situation I'd eat a tub of baked beans before going to the diner and when the killing starts I'd pull my pants down and go "UH OH! STINKY!" and then immediately start defecating everywhere and throwing my shit at the kitchen staff and the food so that way they'd give me a bullet to the head instead of torturing me.

So is it a general rule of thumb that the script of any original movie not made by a big name or established writer/director can be found online before the movie's out?

This particular one was from "the black list" which is an annually published list of the top 10 unproduced scripts in Hollywood. They are all free to view online. Some films like The Black Phone are based on publicly available short stories (and the film is a very close adaptation). But for most movies, the answer is no.

How does the chef get “humiliated” in the burger scene?

In the version of the script that I read: the foodie’s wife calls his food pretentious and asks for a normal burger. He cooks for her and the burger turns out to be delicious, like the best burger she’s ever had. He seems quite happy about it so he lets her go.

Did they change this as well?

Because through the whole movie she crawl under their skin by not being a foodie.
Then she just showed them their happiness could have been attain if only they had the balls to follow what they truly want.

They should remake this movie but instead of a Chef he's a film director killing critics and the heroine has to watch a Marvel movie to get out.

Just because she “provides” a “service”? That’s moronic.

In the draft of the script that I read she was the foodie’s wife. He was a well off lawyer while she’s a public worker.
