They never reused any of the John Connor actors to subtly signify that the events of each film had an effect on the timeline.

This looks really good. Is digital de-aging that good now, or did they reuse footage from a deleted scene from Terminator 2?

          Anonymous

You can tell they used footage from T2 and used it as a “mask” for the actors. So wasn’t so much de-aging as replacing stand ins with CGI rendering

            Anonymous

I mean that *is* de-aging - it's not a magical button on the computer that makes people look younger, it's typically a glorified composite.

              Anonymous

I thought de-aging was when CGI wrinkles and shit away? Like massive filter

          Anonymous

It was a complex process of both de-aging and superimposing their faces on body doubles with approximate builds. The T-800 is just a guy with a similar body to Arnold, but they did also work with the actors, including Edward Furlong.

I just watched T2 for the first time, and I thought T1 was a lot better.
          What’s the consensus on this?

I generally prefer T1 but T2 is also a good follow up. If you continue further with the series you'll notice the decline in quality with each subsequent one, although I give props to Salvation for at least being more original.

Reese deserves more credit. He’s such a great action hero, desperately struggling to survive and complete his mission against impossible odds, but I feel like he never entered the public consciousness the way the rest of the characters did.

Michael Biehn supposedly read memories of Polish underground soldiers (they'd hide, live and travel through canals) in order to prepare for the role.

Michael Biehn in general has always been strangely underrated, despite him having a whole bunch of great roles in iconic films across the 80s and 90s.

Any fans of Terminator 1 should do themselves a favor and play Terminator: Resistance.

I got it on sale recently, it's pretty decent but you can tell it's a budget game. Though tbh, nailing the look and the atmosphere of the future war as seen in T1 and T2 is enough to make it worthwhile.
It's also made me want to rewatch the first film, so that's a plus too

T2 was basically a children's movie. That's not meant as an insult. I feel like you'd have to be a 12 year old to appreciate it the most since it's a classic kid's power fantasy.

T1 is objectively the better movie by every metric and it's also a closed time loop so it also makes the most sense. T2 is just remembered more because it's normie capeshit that was filled with memes (and admittedly perfectly captured that odd early 90s Los Angeles vibe).

I’ll give them credit that T2 was a good idea for a sequel. The bait and switch of Arnie being the good guy was fun, and the T1000 is a great villain. He’s so menacing.

How could a human out general a machine? SKYNET is shown to dominate the skies so presumably robots constantly have vision over the entirety of any battlefield so it's not like Connor can formulate ambushes or flanking attacks. Robots don't require any logistics so they inherently have superior mobility and staying power on the battlefield being able to independently operate 24/7 while even the toughest human requires regular water sleep ane food to function as well as needing to piss and shit. And even if they're expensive and time consuming to make, robots are still vastly more durable than humans and are able to be combat effective the moment they're created whereas humans would need 12 years and proper nutrition and training to be even minimally effective.

    I just don't get it.
