I don't mind Marceline x PB (though It absolutely came out of nowhere and suddenly it was there, no matter what people say) but I think it actually screwed that for the character. They decided to use her for the couple rather than keep her progression to a villian / villian adjacent, and she couldn't be both. Some hints of PB going kind of insane were there, the future seemed to hint at some breaking point and bad decisions, but then it just wasn't a topic anymore.
I never actually mention it because whenever you mention M X PB it starts a shitposting chain that has nothing to do with actual opinions about the show itself or the quality of the writing, but I always thought it.
That's because the people who force fictional characters to be lesbians don't care about themes, characters, or just decent writing in general: they only care about satiating a fetish, and portraying them as totally flawless, wholesome milquetoast couples with no problems or bite to them. It's tiresome. It's bad enough their characters were turned into yet another set of oh so perfect lesbians - but they're BORING, too.
She had a whole arc in season 6/7 with her loosening her grip on power and need to be in control, which resulted in her getting dethroned. She relaxed her grip so much that by the time Obsidian rolled around she didn't even live in the Candy Kingdom. It was a nice character progression. PB was never going to be a villain.

>and portraying them as totally flawless
in what world? PB having a big ego, and Marceline being rash/bad at communicating were central to the plot of Obsidian. It's satisfying precisely because they show how they work past their negative attributes.
There is an alternate universe where PB becomes a major villain, threatens all of Ooo, but redeems herself by sacrificing herself to destroy the Lich, leaving Finn to guide the Candy Kingdom as their Hero.
Goliad was the point of no return for her, she showed that not only was she completely irresponsible in her pursuits but she couldn't even properly control the things she created.
Villains sacrificing themselves to defeat greater villains in rushed redemption arcs is a very overdone and shallow trope. It would still be extreme character assassination that would depend on heavy retcons for the character which is the problem with the character in the real story.
They are the ones who made her evil. I at least think she can still be redeemed.
>They are the ones who made her evil.
I never really understood the Princess Bubblegum is le evil meme. She powertripped with the Fire Kingdom, she still had good intentions and Marceline is way way WAY more evil than her. If anything, Bubblegum's acceptance of Marceline is the most evil thing she does. The entire theory that she's evil is based on one episode and Goliad, and Goliad objectively isn't her so it's unreasonable to call her evil based on the actions of a clone that was only partially based on her DNA and acted completely differently and in direct opposition to her. Apparently there was a one-off gag about her robbing Finn & Jake and calling it "taxes" even though they don't even live in her kingdom. By far the worst argument for her being evil is that she's too controlling of her own citizens when her citizens are literally her own creations by her own hands, and they're constantly shown to have the mental capacities of morons and children who'd make stupid decisions and hurt themselves without her constant guidance.
I think people really exaggerate how "evil" PB is, but there was definitely a trend in seasons 5-7 where they wrote her as much more of an butthole as she was before in some misguided attempt to create complexity. Take Apple Wedding for example: she's pretty much entirely correct yet she's so b***hy about it that it makes her come off as very unsympathetic. In a way, it's even worse to make a character an butthole than to make them evil, because the audience is ironically more willing to tolerate the latter than the former.
The problem isn't you don't understand, its that you choose to ignore. PB did considerably worse things than the majority of the cast who got significantly more punishment. Whatever bad things she has done you'll wave away but that isn't how the show handled other characters or treated events as it got a bit more serious and examined past actions.

Which we find out is cause she purposefully made them stupider so they wouldn't disobey her. In cases like Rattleballs where she just has them killed when they are no longer of use to her. It is never shown she uses intelligence as a scale and treats you better if you are smarter. Starchy is brighter than most yet isn't allowed to opt out of having a tracking device installed in his mouth. None of this justifies the level of surveillance she has over the population. Remember when she justified sabotaging the Fire Kingdom cause they might be dangerous. Strange cause FP isn't the one who starts a war.
It would've been cool if they turned pb into a straight up villain.

I think they even retconned some of PB’s shitty behavior, but I am not sure if I read a fan made comic or an official one.

That's fricking stupid. Like I get that the direction they chose to take her character was bad, but "solving" it by making her a bad guy is just dumb
They are the ones who made her evil. I at least think she can still be redeemed.
I mean she was "redeemed" in the sense that she walked back on her worst actions. Also I don't think she was ever evil, just a conceited butthole

Marceline ain't evil, she's a big softie.
Why does she design them to be moronic?

So would the jake suit be the actual chainsawman equivalent in this story
This show should have ended after season 1
>the show should have ended after the worst season
It's weird to realize a lot of people only watched Adventure Time for the shipping.
I wonder what they thought of the "all the little people" episode that was clearly criticizing shipping culture
Not like it matters, the writers entirely ignored its message and made up a shit version of that episode with Frost and Fire
FP would mop the floor with PB
PB and FP fought before and PB held her own.
>ai generated art
>can’t even tell ai art from real art
>seethes anyway
based moron
Is this in reference to something? It FEELS like its referencing other material.
Chainsaw Man.
On brand thread?
The forced handjob scene has made Cinemaphile unusable
It was hot.
Fan art bullshit
Nah it's real.
>Bang
don't show this to /smg/ (spider-man general), they'll be seething all day.
would young PB be nayuta
