Seinfeld is famous for its "laugh track", which is from a live audience. I wasn't being derisive, i just think that distinction isn't popularly observed or particularly necessary. Whats the difference if its a captive audience shitting and pissing themselves or simple canned laughter

hes not an butthole on purpose, hes trying to be friends. Micheal and Andy are the same way but US writers cant leave shit alone so they got turned into lovable morons.

          Anonymous

And there are lonely people who are. Can you really not watch a show if its subjects aren't paragons of virtue? Do you have issues watching Seinfeld? It sounds like you're contextualizing the original show through the lens of the US adaptation, which is a show for women who can't bear the idea of Michael Scott not actually being a lovable chunkster. Brent's big hang-up was his inability to really stand up for himself. It was obvious that, if he were able to own who he was - flaws and all - and not grovel at the feet of his bosses and even his subordinates to mask his imperfections, he'd be able to take a step toward being a more genuine and likeable person. And at the end of the series, he does stand up to Finch and we root for him because of that. And then Gervais, like a hack, made that shitty movie sequel and ruined it all.

            Anonymous

Wow, this is the dumbest take on the Brent character I've ever seen. He was not a likeable person hiding underneath it all - the point of the show was he's an irredeemable piece of shit who's office was sucessful despite him - and it caught up to him in the end. The US Office literally took that idea, and spelled it out for the audience that Micheal was successful, and nobody could figure out why.
I mean, pick a stance - you start by berating the other anon for expecting the characters to be "paragons of virtue" - and then build the Brent character up as one.

              Anonymous

No, you're literally incapable of competent media analysis. Brent was the focus of the show. A show requires a character arc. He obviously didn't become a saint by the end of it - far from that - and you'd realize that if you weren't chomping at the bit to completely mischaracterize my post, or else misinterpret it like a drooling moron. The point is we spend the entire two series laughing at him making us cringe, but we can't help but find Finch even less appealing. Brent isn't a monster, he's pathetic, and we're watching him get bullied instead of getting his typical comeuppance for being duplicitous and trying to play both sides. His standing up to Finch at the end is a step toward becoming a genuine person, which comes after finding a woman who seems to genuinely like him. He realizes that he doesn't need to constantly be the center of attention or adopt PC values he doesn't believe in - and certainly doesn't act on - in order to ingratiate himself with people. Jesus Christ, it's the most basic shit ever and you're calling me dumb? This board is something else.

I've watch The Indian office. It's a very close copy of the American version, with some character changes that are mostly cultural. Indian Dwight, for example, still loves authority and discipline, but the examples are often about him being fundamentalist and wanting to enforce those norms.

I like both, they both have enough to watch and enjoy. I'm not autistic so a show doesn't have to "win" over another. It's like the UK Shameless, and the US Shameless. They both have their own unique qualities.
I will agree that the US show should have ended when Micheal left. But they had a hit show making them mountains of money, so we got the pointless final seasons.
But who am I to derail the incels ranting about the US Office, because they're angry the fictitional Jim finally won the fictional Pam. Because that's so fricking important, they can't jerk off to her now.

  30. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

Not a bong nor a mutt so I'm totally neutral and objective observer here. And the fact is that UK Office absolutely mogs US office. UK office is smart, melancholic and fun in a tight package while US office is a typical American comedy with million episodes that tries to cater to all with zany characters and situations. Instead of making the office life seem soul crushing monotony like in the UK version, US version removes all the ugliness from wagie suffering and creates this fantasy land where women and redditors actually start fantasizing of wanting to work in.

For most of the show he's unmotivated, it's a central point of his character that he's spinning his wheels there - and says as much several times. Like when he transfers to the other office, among motivated salespeople. He just doesn't care. He's obsessed with Pam, and doesn't care about anything else until he gets her.

Half the time I think you tards don't watch the show, or are so coom brained from jerking off while watching it, you miss most of the dialog.

/tv also gets very upset when a character unlike them (ie. handsome, in shape, has a personality, can shower every day) gets the women they masturabte like cracked out monkeys over. They're the fat dude in accounting who think they have a shot at Pam.
