Beginning is pretty steep difficulty wise, but after the first human encounter and first alien encounter, it gets much easier, then after getting the flamethrower it's just trivial. That's on hard.
Playing the same slow as frick minigames over and over did get lame, and them having like only music track for a 16hr game was grating. I'm so sick of the fricking ambience song I want to vomit when I think of replaying the game.
Yep, you can explore the Nostromo and it looks amazing. Plus in the main gain you get to discover the Derelict and explore inside, see the original Space Jockey in all its glory and descend into the egg chamber. It's great
Isolation being canon would be stupid. I love Isolation, but making Ripley's daughter into another chosen survivor is the same lazy scifi "everyone is related" shit that Star Wars abuses.
It's the only prequel like story that actually makes sense. Her mother disappeared in space, Amanda grew up wanting to follow in her footsteps and if she could, to find out what happened. And her quest eventually takes her to Sevastopol. And since they found the Nostromo flight recorder, it makes sense they also found the xeno ship nearby

I couldn't turn the difficulty down by then, and I was already half an hour in. Well I didn't expect it to be that hard, it's a walking simulator after all with scripted events.

Yeah I definitely remember the alien clomping around hallways in full view while humans hide from it under tables in the movie.
The story is by far the weakest aspect of the game
The story is fricking boring unless you play the game.
What makes the game worth playing is the atmosphere.
It has the Nostromo DLC starring all the actors except Ian Holm (though he approved of putting his appearance in the game)
