Because the default assumption in the industry is not that a thing will continue. Without a preexisting contract a show doesn't exists until an order has been placed.

The sets were torn down and some of the actors have new shows already.
Show under performed, it's possible though. I'd like to see orville with a shoe string budget though, I feel Seth believes in the show so much he might go without pay just to keep making, and I think it would transcend into sci-fi gold.
The chick playing the second officer said it was the last season. Sure, it was quickly erased and the producers and seth said it wasn't cancelled, but she would know
And it's a terrible cameo. She's all politically powerful and leading and shit.
The whole appeal to the manbabies simping for her was that she was a beta girl in need to be saved.
Frick claire and her kids. This show is shit because of its' over-reliance on 2 plots to the detriment of anything actually fun and interesting.
>claire/isaac relationship drama >gay homosexual aliens
Maybe if it was 26 episode seasons it wouldn't have been so oppressively bad but those two plots got an inordinate amount of screentime and I don't care about those characters or their stories at all.
I agree, it would have been more okay if spread out over long seasons or hell, if the current episodes were over ten seasons (hell, even Topa aged to like age 12 in 3 years)
I don't actually mind the moclan storyline, I just don't want it to be every third episode.
It's like it was a planned demoralization campaign. One week you get this amazing fricking episode and then the next its "HEY GUISE READY FOR ANOTHER EPISODE OF gayS IN SPACE?!?!?!"
Probably just one of the writers having a big gay space boner for the storyline

My theory is they crammed all the ESG score shit into full episodes so they could have mostly non-pozzed episodes instead of spreading the poz more evenly. It was a bad strategy.
Season 2 and 3 were a little too heavy on romantic relationships between the crewmembers in my opinion. They should really make more episodes that just deal with uncharted phenomena like the time travel or the mortality paradox one. There is also a serious lack of episodes in which they encounter new civilizations.
Show should have been monster of the week with a sprinkling of character development plus comedy. LIGHT entertainment with ZERO overtly preachy bullshit. Everybody cheers.
The Star Trek formula, when it's at its strongest, isn't really light entertainment but deals with moral dilemmas that aren't easy to resolve.

I would argue you can't do the star trek formula with less than 15 episode seasons. You need that long runtime to squeeze in the character development necessary to have fully fleshed out character your audience can care about while also tackling complex issues. With a short run time something is going to suffer because you just don't have the time to fit it all in.
this. it's what made season 1 so good. pretty sure seth did some interview where he said they wanted to shift *away* from that format which made star trek successful, and focus on "character studies" and drama instead, and that's when the show started pumping out turds; when every episode was focused predominantly on one member of the cast.
Seth keeps sticking his Oscar wiener in the female actresses and then fires them when he's tired of their gashes, let's hope he does the same to Claire in the next season.
I really didn't mind it in seasons 1 and 2 that much, I mean yeah, it was 'progressive' but as much as you'd expect a star trek to be
but in 3, holly hell >so we should perform this sex change surgery on a childe agains the rules, direct orders, ignoring veto from one of the parents and diplomatic relationships with our only reliable ally during wartime because It's The Right Thing To Do >oh, your race was slaves once, centuries ago? That actually makes you being genocidal frick trying to wipe out all life in the galaxy OK and I forgive you, not your fault. I will even sacrifice my life for you now despite you haven't even made a promise you'd stop this shit, but instead insist that this cease in hostilities is only temporary >establishing good relations with militant feminist race because Grayson admits how huge bawd she was and got away with ti
I think there was more but I already forgot
The only shit that really grinded my gears this season was the topa shit. It was moderately interesting that they even allowed the ftm procedure to go through in the first place then they had to go full moron and reverse it. The militant feminist shit s pretty funny
I don’t think there was any hard feelings. Alara’s last scene with Ed with the pickle jar was very affectionate and she came back for two cameos. Dating Charlie’s actress is really sketchy but at least she was meant to be a one season character, and they’re still together after Charlie got killed off.
well nazi episodes are a time honored star trek tradition, so why not have one
but I'm sure it'd be even more preachy and awful then the norm so no huge loss

Would Hitler consider aliens like Xelayans white if the crew of the Orville showed up in Nazi Germany?
They probably just didn't know how they could have Otto interact with the crew without the guy being overtly racist in a way that wouldn't up the age-rating but would also be appropriate for a man his era.
she got shown what happens when you give 21st century planets replicators, makes sense but it was rushed too many plot threads this ep should've just been the wedding and the girl, a plot b plot, classic tng

Yes, pic related. The show roughly covers 1 to 6, so if you start with 7 you should be good, there is a 28 year time jump anyway between 6 and 7 which is one of the reasons they stopped the show where they did.
That said, I do recommend reading them from the start, they are worth it, you get a lot more characters, action, deep lore if you will and a lot more of the Roci crew. The show showed only an abbreviated version of the story.
in fairness Orville S3 had 10 episodes that were all really fricking long. like nearly double the length of Trek episodes, which themselves ran for an hour with commercials.

Even if she did, what they gonna do with it? They don't have the infrastructure to manufacture any of the sub-nanoscale computer parts, the fuel for the advanced energy sources, and the energy density to run any of this advanced technology.

She was from a race of scientist.
Thats why she became a security officer.
she appeals to waifugays because she’s cute. she’s the opposite of a beta girl, she can kick the ads of anyone in the crew except maybe Isaac.
she should have been at the bachelorette party

Too busy with her big movie career.

Wait, did they reuse that explosion from the voyager nazi episode?
looks like it, the one where they blow the holodeck wall open
Too bad. Sounds like it would've made good meme material.
Would Hitler consider aliens like Xelayans white if the crew of the Orville showed up in Nazi Germany?
Nah, they look like Gypsies

don't worry it'd turn out that being 30's nazi is basically being against gay and trans rights, abortion and illegal immigration
is she back for season 4? If so im going to start watching again
The finale was also the monkeypox episode.
change my mind homosexuals.
