That's not even the most amazing part of this. This was just extra footage/b-roll that George Lucas' ex wife just happened to find. She was a genius and figured out it would make the film way more interesting to place it here. She truly saved star wars.

star wars was literally saved in the edit by a woman.
george lucas was completely clueless and didn't even know what was supposed to be happening in the film, he didn't even know which planet was which or that anything was happening in space.
when he filmed it, he had meant for the millennium falcon to be a static building with dialogue scenes taking place, it was marcia, a woman, who carefully edited it with outtakes, bloopers, and snippets from cigar commercials that harrison ford had done, to make it seem like the millennium falcon was in space or travelling anywhere at all

I don’t believe a lot of this, but it is well-documented that editing was female dominated for a long time.
So it’s funny to imagine some grumpy, frustrated lady trying desperately to piece something coherent together out of the footage and being shocked when it’s a hit.

          Anonymous

she actually spent more time editing it than the entire time spent on the rest of the production put together, including script writing, filming and special effects.
she was the sole reason the film was any good at all, because before she laid her golden touch on it, it was incoherent nonsense.
lucas even wanted the whole film to be in an alien language with no subtitles, so Marcia had to go behind his back in order to call the actors in to dub over their lines in English.

You are talking to the infamous Reylo schizo, who has spent at least seven years of its brief reproductive window trying to force Cinemaphile to like a shitty Disney Star Wars film by a goon from Film Twitter who was trying to mock Star Wars because goons cannot feel secure creating something unless they are also mocking the entire process of creating it and it, itself, an attitude ingrained in him by years spent in the real live 5 monkeys and a ladder experiment that was SA.

Understandably, reason is absolutely ineffective: this kind of creature would not be the kind of creature it is without having abandoned reason long ago. I suppose it thinks that eventually the real Kylo Ren will reward its act of service and descend from the clouds and provide the dicking the creature yearns for.

But sadly we live in the world of reality, and there will be no dickings, just endless mendacious bad faith criticisms of every Star Wars product that isn't TLJ until the heat death of the universe.
