THERE IS NO REDEMPTION FOR BLACK ADAM. Thousands of years ago, did Black Adam inadvertently create a powerful race who've modeled themselves after the Akkadian pantheon of goddesses and gods? Or is he being gaslighted, taunted by illusions, by one of his many enemies? Theo Teth-Adam finds only more questions when he is lured to the Akkadian Hightower and given a cryptic message. Meanwhile, Adam has dispatched Etrigan the Demon, an unlikely ally, to either train his youthful successor or kill him.
Shazam lore was always a cultural mishmash. The Wizard looked like pic related, but was supposed to be “Egyptian,” had statues of the Seven Deadly “Enemies of Man” in his cave, and could bestow the powers of Greek and Roman gods.
He’s black in the movie because the New 52 Wizard was based on the Aboriginal god of thunder.
I would agree, this “as long as it sounds ancient” hasn’t aged so well, but it’s an older problem.
>The Wizard looked like pic related, but was supposed to be “Egyptian,”
The frick? Did old capeshit writers just assume everyone but a small percent of americans were white?
I believe I do remember reading that the ancient Egyptians were once thought in the 1920s to be a white civilization that mysteriously vanished, a conclusion based on the assumption that only white people could have made such sophisticated buildings and artifacts.
But then you have Ibis the Invincible, another character published by the same company as Shazam. Ibis is pretty much drawn as a white guy too, but they at least gave him a turban.
Of course, at that time it was common to see actors play races other than their own in movies, the other dominant visual medium of the time.
It’s hard to say what the line is between “Eh, who cares” and like ignorance actively reinforced by institutions.
>Of course, at that time it was common to see actors play races other than their own in movies, the other dominant visual medium of the time.
Funny way of saying "white men wouldn't allow other races to star in movies back in the day."

Don't be moronic, the East( both middle and far) have been acknowledged and even fetishised by the west in different points of history. It's just that they didn't care about racially sensitive at the time, also in the case of movies it would probably be hard to find actors of foreign descent
/co/ >REEEE! STOP MAKING WHITE CHARACTERS BLACK! MAKE YOUR OWN BLACK CHARACTERS!
Also Cinemaphile >REEEE! WHY ARE THEY MAKING BLACK CHARACTERS! THEY'RE ERASING WHITE PEOPLE IN MY COMIC BOOKS!
Those things aren't exclusive of one another, especially when they aren't creating new black characters just piggybacking them onto well known titles because they know for a fact nobody would care otherwise.
who the frick is this?
No really. What is this?
>Meanwhile, Adam has dispatched Etrigan the Demon, an unlikely ally, to either train his youthful successor or kill him.

They were certainly drawn like that, little Mr. Shitposter.

...What about that did you not understand? It's plain English.
My last name isn’t shitposter so I assumed you meant to reply to someone else:
You probably just made a mistake, no problem
Yes, white men also ever opened their eyes.
Damn…that says a lot about society
They still do
I don't see the problem with this.
Superheroes are meant to be good-looking, not look like grotesque zoomer Black folks from some shithole city in the US.
Maybe he’s the good looking black for a black

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
Reminds me of that Osiris kid he had tagging along
$10 says it will be a fricking American
They're american comics you mong. Want representation of your own backwater flyover country? Make your own comics.
>gaslighted
>not gaslit
Basic fricking grammar
Gaslighted is correct if you're talking about the psychological manipulation tactic. It's a hanged/hung scenario.
Does he have extra-powerful super breath because of those nostrils?
SHIEEEEEEEZAM
Is he from the Black Adam book ?
handsome Black
KHAAAANNGGG
It's by Priest, he's probably going to take the piss out of it
ooga booga
...Why is a Sub-Saharan African wearing Greek style robes and symbols?
Because Shazam is an Ancient Greek.

It's a fact that they were Semites.

Some of them kinda are white, if you saw that recent movie about Queen the dude who plays Freddie Mercury is Egyptian.
Freddie himself was of Iranian/Indian descent.
I don’t think they cared
No wonder why anime and manga are doing significantly better than cartoons and comics.
>Another electric black superhero
Lel
The most dangerous places in the world are all in Latin America so yeah
...because nobody vacations in Africa.
More people visit Africa than Latin America this is a sad cope
Literally Black Adam.
