I liked the comics but some of the story arcs took a bit too long to come into fruition.
The show dropped the ball for most of Season 2, and the finale of Season 3. Other than that, its alright. At least they're trying to give some depth to some of the characters that were pretty flat in the comics.
>At least they're trying to give some depth to some of the characters that were pretty flat in the comics.
Like who? Female and Frenchie work better as one-note characters with a great bond with each other, so hopefully you're not talking about either of them.
Nah I was talking more about A-Train, Homelander, and even Black Noir.
Queen Maeve kinda too, but after S3 its more generic "I hate homelander, I hate this supe shit"
Ironically enough, The Deep has the least depth even with an expanded characterization. He just boils down to "I'm spineless, but at least I forced starlight to blow me and killed that running mate to suck up to HL"
>A-Train
I don't see how he was flat in the comic compared to the show. They're both complete buttholes. >Homelander
I don't see how making him into a Trump parody is "less flat" than what we got in the comic. >Black Noir
Is being "Pyro, but black" really any better than being a psychopathic clone of Homelander, who's reveal is the twist of the whole series?
Considering what they called "Depth" meant to poor Frienchie and Kimiko, some things are better off dead. I mean goddamn they butchered those characters almost as bad as Butcher himself!
And the show is bogged down even more by moron adapters gutting everything that was good from the comic and replacing it with shittier, watered-down alternatives.
I don't think anything remotely involving M.M.'s family was good nor could possibly have been adapted without being horrible. Especially with his daughter. Nor do I believe that Soldier Boy pissing his pants is in any way better than the Soldier Boy we have in the show. Plus The Deep is an actual character.
>I don't think anything remotely involving M.M.'s family was good nor could possibly have been adapted without being horrible.
Are you kidding me? MM's comic backstory is great. His Lovecraftian mother is both funny and creepy.
I don't know what's worse >the main villain of the series actually did nothing wrong, it was his evil clone all along, who kills him off-panel
or >teaming up with the main villain of the series, a threat to the whole world, over me wife's son
That's not very off-panel, anon. Also, >"actually did nothing wrong"
is just flat out incorrect. He was an absolute shitbag like the rest of the community, he just wasn't an utter psychopath.
Like Stillwell says, Homelander is rather a rather unoriginal person at the end of the day.
>That's not very off-panel, anon. Also,
That didn't kill him. Noir rips him apart off-panel.
>he was an absolute shitbag like the rest of the community, he just wasn't an utter psychopath.
Sure, he was an butthole, but he wasn't a rapist or a baby-eating cannibal. Butcher's entire motivation is because he hates Homelander for raping his wife, but it wasn't even him. I feel like "Lol it was his crazy clone" is a moronic ass pull.
>I feel like "Lol it was his crazy clone" is a moronic ass pull.
This doesn't mean you have to like the twist but it was foreshadowed. I forget when but there's a scene where the Boys and the Seven have sitdown abut Homelander says to Butcher something along the lines of "whatever I did to you I probably don't even remember it." There's also the scene where Stilwell's assistant is testing a simulation of a possible battle between the Boys and the Seven, and the only survivors are Homelander and Black Noir.
>I feel like "Lol it was his crazy clone" is a moronic ass pull.
Well, it wasn't, as it was firmly built up throughout the entire fricking series. They specifically point out in Butcher's encounter with Homelander WAY back in the beginning that Homelander doesn't know who Butcher is, or why Butcher hates him. Then we get the A-Train scene where he finds Homelander crying, which also builds that up.
You can dislike it, but do not pretend it was "an asspull"; it wasn't.
Cheap indie book from the early 2000s. I think the actual pencilling is fine for what it is and the ugliness in terms of faces is intentional. He's a lot better looking with better coloring. Another thing is so much of his artwork for the boys has heavy black inking which contrasts with the airbrushed digital colors.
makes a point with the V and is not a free upgrade like it was in the comic. Gave consequences so there is no abuse.
While i like starlight in the comic a lot the fact she helps the cause makes her more interesting, Frenchie/Female got more time. Homelander have a a role and not just act as a weapon. A train is trash in both mediums.
However i can easily say show Butcher is just bad and is not interesting like he was in the comic.
>no point
even if that was true there would be nothing wrong with that. didacticism is peak cringe and its reddit tv show adaption is an example of that
>edgerino pepperino
Someone's a little sensitive about their superhero rape comic
>no point
even if that was true there would be nothing wrong with that. didacticism is peak cringe and its reddit tv show adaption is an example of that
Nah the book was far better. The show doesn't critique capes or hero shit at all, it's more concerned with mocking the tv/music industry and reality tv shows. Getting a bit tired of all the 'every guy likes getting fricked in the ass lol' yeah we get it, you want the right wing audience that like homelander and the nazis to feel uncomfortable about having their prostate tickled, very 'satirical'.
The best thing about the comics is that they don't play billy joel as subtext but then have hughie literally explain the subtext to the camera and make it explicit text because they know the audience are too fricking dumb to get shit without having it spoonfed to them. Which they do about everything. They couldn't even show you Soldier Boy in the capsule without Butcher literally goin OMG SOLDIER BOY before he takes his fricking oxygen mask off.
>the right wing audience that like homelander and the nazis
I have not seen anybody use homelander or the zoomer nazi female for thier personal politics outside of the obvious digs from the showwriters themselves at right wingers.
>it's more concerned with mocking the tv/music industry and reality tv shows.
Thats how it felt reading the comic the supes are basically just celeberities ennis bashes. I will never watch the show.
You coulnt sell it to the morons otherwise, the kind of person who watches this shit while screeching about the comics here for the Disney superhero experience with a different variant and nothing else.
The comic wasn't very good but the show can't even do what little the comic did right >Hughie is no longer the moral compass of the boys >Trying desperately to redeem supes like Queen Maeve when all they deserve is a quick death >CW tier drawn out drama and pointless plots (seriously what was the point of Frenchie and the Female this season??) >Turning homelander from a nuclear bomb with daddy issues into a shit tier supe thats already gone off the deep end like twice
theres aspects about the comic that i feel are more mean spirited to edgy that im pretty sure wont be adapted(certain aspects of the g-family, superduper) and at the same time, there are really some scenes that show off just how fricked up voight is that we arent getting(mothers milks backstory) i will say this though, the boys tv show isnt nearly as much of a dissapointment as preacher was.
Well it used to be until the S3 finale where it dropped every ball that wasn't related to Queen Maeve.
>Nuuuu A-Train how could you kill one of your own kind >Even though I killed Black Noir 5 minutes ago >And Supersonic a couple weeks ago before that >And the Wind Terrorist >And Doppelganger >*crunch* Did you hear something?
>Soldier Boy is still an evil dickbag so the father reveal is ultimately pointless and y'know what? frick you for liking him
>we spent the entire season hyping up Black Noir vs Soldier Boy only for it to NOT. HAPPEN.
>Nooo we must protect Ryan oh wait nevermind he's evil too >No sane child sees a person's head explode and smiles
I fricking hated the comic, but I can see why some people liked it. It's just not for me.
The first season of the show was pretty good and improved on pretty much everything. Season 2 was hot trash and I haven't seen S3 yet, but it's still better than the comic
The comic was pretty awful so that's not a huge bar to clear.
the same shit take in every "was x better than source material?"
Why would the take change if it's always correct?
Fpwp, the comic was shite yes, but the show was far far worse.
Sure, if you haven't read the comic and base your opinions purely off what other people say.
I read the comics years before the show came out, I've held the opinion the show is better than the comic throughout season 1.
Season 3 I'm not so sure about, kind of a bullshit wheel spinning season.
>Grendel is getting a Netflix show
>People gonna gay all over it on here and everywhere else like The Boys.
I'm not ready.
I wonder if they'll start with Hunter Rose.
If they're smart it'll only be Hunter Rose.
I want it to be good so fricking bad.
Frick off shill, and take your shit taste along with you
The show is just R Rated CW tier soap opera garbage. Literally nothing happened this season
The comic is bad but the show is worse still.
the comic being awful was part of its charm
Not after the season 3 ending. Cry like a b***h all you want about how out there the comic was, but it stuck the landing.
The comics are better. They turned Butcher into a cuck, and they turned Blacknoir from a Homelander contingency into Pyro from TF2
Yes, but you didn't have to post my YT video here you fricking gay.
1st season - yes.
2nd and 3rd - no.
I liked the comics but some of the story arcs took a bit too long to come into fruition.

The deep was a joke character in the comic, a punchline. Man didnt need deep lore or a race change
Considering what they called "Depth" meant to poor Frienchie and Kimiko, some things are better off dead. I mean goddamn they butchered those characters almost as bad as Butcher himself!
Marshall Law without any of unique crazy art and clever writing and knows what it is with trying to be more.
There's a bit of a new frontier too, but the boys is really about bush era politics
>He thought the ending was shit
>He misunderstood the point of Homelander'a development in the comics
Filtered
not watching that shill
That's just his opinion. Why should I or you hold it any higher than that?
>first criticism is "too edgy"
Oh shut the frick up. Wow a Garth Ennis comic is edgy groundbreaking shit I'm so glad I watched this.
Yeah, I've always agreed that the show is better. The comic is good, but is dragged down by Ennis being Ennis.
And the show is bogged down even more by moron adapters gutting everything that was good from the comic and replacing it with shittier, watered-down alternatives.

This guy is such a better character than Homelander's mommy milker and "only wypeepo can get mad".
They're gonna rip this scene verbatum but with Gus and probably throw in something about him being white for good measure
first
Why was the comic's art so fricking ugly? Specially that coloring. EVERYTHING looks shiny.
Yes
The fact that Cinemaphile always vehemently comes to the comic’s defense totally confirms how garbage it is. Never trust this place
>mindlessness is achsully KOOL! LOL!
People like you are genuinely the cause for decay in our society.
Yes but the show is bad too.
before s3? i will die in the hill that the comic was better
after s3? the show is unironically better and has surpassed the comic for me
Cringe. S3 made the show worse than the comic
makes a point with the V and is not a free upgrade like it was in the comic. Gave consequences so there is no abuse.
While i like starlight in the comic a lot the fact she helps the cause makes her more interesting, Frenchie/Female got more time. Homelander have a a role and not just act as a weapon. A train is trash in both mediums.

Comic Butcher is lame as frick. Urban is really good even if the writing is pretty bad sometimes.
I like Karl Urban, but TV Butcher is abysmal.
Comic Butcher is pretty cool.
>Comic Butcher is lame as frick
At least he's a consistent character.
Yeah but only because the comic was edgy shit with no point.
>edgy shit with no point
>t. didn't read the comic
>inb4 "hurr durr, ya, why would I read dat crap???" self-defeating response
Someone's a little sensitive about their superhero rape comic
No, you're just a bandwagoning homosexual.
>my superhero rape show is better than your superhero rape comic
>no point
even if that was true there would be nothing wrong with that. didacticism is peak cringe and its reddit tv show adaption is an example of that
>edgerino pepperino
>i don't like how they story is conveyed to IT HAS NOT POINT YUP IT HAS NO POINT I'M TELLING YOU IT 100% HAS NO POINT
the show is gaygier, so if you're a fan of that then you could say it's "better"
The comic is really fricking awful, and I say that as a big Ennis fan.
Then the show is 10x worse, because it removes anything and everything good from the comic and supplants it with mediocrity.
>The Boys vs 'The Homelander Show'
Nah the book was far better. The show doesn't critique capes or hero shit at all, it's more concerned with mocking the tv/music industry and reality tv shows. >it's more concerned with mocking the tv/music industry and reality tv shows.
Thats how it felt reading the comic the supes are basically just celeberities ennis bashes. I will never watch the show.
Sometimes it's better, sometimes it's worse.
Terrible
the show is missing the heart of the comic
That's what happens when you remove the moral compass from the moralgay character--who's also supposed to be the protagonist.
You coulnt sell it to the morons otherwise, the kind of person who watches this shit while screeching about the comics here for the Disney superhero experience with a different variant and nothing else.
The show is toothless and pretty much actual capeshit. The comic is an auteur's work wheter you like it or not.
its shit

You're not fooling anybody moron.
