The Sopranos really should have taken place during the seventies.

The Sopranos really should have taken place during the seventies.
The biggest issue is that the police seemingly don't use any kind of forensic evidence at all to solve any murders. No prints, no DNA, nothing. And cameras just don't exist.
There's also that organized crime families just weren't this big and profitable in the early 2000s. Tony wouldn't have lived in a place and having people around town know he's the boss right away. The show talks about the decline like it's coming but by 2000 it was basically over.

And integrity. It's shown in the show not only street cops but glowlies have a hard on for organized crime and not just the benefits.

also most of the murders took place without there being a body left to recover

the point of the show is the ending of the mafia.
he says so in the first episode "I feel like Im getting in at the end. the glory days have passed him"

I think that's partially the point though, everyone is basically living in denial that the good ole days are long over. And it keeps biting them in the ass but I do see your point. I think a show set during the actual decline of the mob would be really cool.

Yeah, you can tell it's derived from stories of the mob from the 60's to 80's, meanwhile it's set in the modern era. It's likely just cheaper and easier to do. Can you imagine them trying to ensure every crowd shot had era appropriate cars and clothing?

    FBI was pretty incompetent
    >always get spotted easy
    >bug something that can be easily moved and replaced like a lamp
    >let Adriana go off on her own to convince Christopher
    >actually thought Ade could give them information in the first place when she’s never involved in any important meetings and just a wife

You’ve watched too many cop shows where the cops are super geniuses and action heroes. Go look at how many times cops shit the bed in famous murderer cases. Cops can’t do shit on their own

Do you know how many murders go unsolved? Especially if it's crime related. Murders they committed are closer to nogs shooting each other than a blonde white girl dying. Also, most of them "disappear" and it's not like someone is going to file a missing person's report.

Exactly. And it's likely the Police did have a feeling Tony did murder him (he did leave blood) but they also know Tony can afford the best lawyers and there was no witnesses. He also had a valid excuse that he was touring colleges with his daughter.

CSI came after this show. No one watching would have known what the frick they're doing testing rope fibers in a lab.

Real-life murders in Detroit and Baltimore go unsolved all the time. 'Cause who cares enough to investigate?

The only murder that is ridiculous to me is when Tony kills that dude with a gun hidden in a fish. A gun hidden in a fish is already ridiculous but why is the boss getting his own hands dirty in the middle of a day at an open dock with a highway bridge nearby. At least everyone else Tony personally kills it was a spontaneous thing where he couldn’t have gotten someone else to do it like pic related, Ralph, and Christopher or it was super personally like with big pussy and blundetto.

The fish was to catch him off guard and it a reoccurring theme that tony personally gets involved in shit that he should be above.

David Chase NEVER cared about the crime aspect of the show

That's why FBI is so incompetent in the show. They only exist because chase wanted to explore the "rat" aspect of the mafia.
Look what happens to most rats. They NEVER get away with it. They either get murdered by tony, die randomly or kill themselves.
The rats only impact other characters, like Johnny Sack.

The FBI did flip Carlo and have been building a RICO case for years. With Carlo they had more than enough ammunition to put away Tony. It did work out for them in the end

that only happened because the show was ending
I can gurantee you, 100%, if there ever was a season 7, nothing would have happened.
Carlo flipped cause that's what the plot demanded.

    > It's good to be in something from the ground floor, and I came too late for that, I know. But lately I've been getting a feeling that I came at the end. The best is over.
You're moronic and missed the whole point of the show.

Because it really was just some pygmie shit up in jersey. The people who got murdered were mostly known criminals or associates of criminals who were of no real importance in the grand scheme of things - all the police resources were focused on blacks, mexicans, and eastern europeans at this point. The most egregious examples of murders not being investigated I can think of are legitimately innocent people like the waiter or the guy Vito kills on the country road. But who am I to question the realism in the series where most of the murders break down into absurd slapstick comedy bits
