I just think it's funny they used a real from the internet "Animaniacs cultural reference guide" as the basis for this episode.

pretty accurate representation of the people who will comb each episode frame by frame for tiny continuity errors and then mail the creators of the show for not caring about the show

They did caricatures of the Animaniacs superfans they invited to the studio (who were invited because of the meticulous Usenet community). Unlike a 'jak, these are drawings of love.

I wanted to throw in a link to the Pointers On Insignificant Technicalities (POIT) list, but it appears that that's died at some point in the past decade, and a quick look for rehosts was grim, so here's a link to a small umbrella of what was once one of the largest online communities for a cartoon.

Why do Western animators hold so much contempt for their fans compared to their Japanese counterparts?

      >Why do Western animators hold so much contempt for their fans compared to their Japanese counterparts?

      probably

      1. A lot of American animators are not fans of animation. And if they are, they are only fans of a very specific small array of shows and media from the past. They might be autistic about their old favs but nothing modern so they dont "get it"

      2. Japanese animators are less likely to be liberal or "hippies" in the ways american animators or. A lot of american animators are like, minimalist, potheads, artsy types. They eat granola, grow mushrooms, go hiking on weekends and smoke a lot of weed. They dont obsess over modern shows or buy merch of modern shows. There is a good chance they dont even buy merch of the old media they like. Japanese people are less likely to be hippie art frick types.

      3. American animators have no real idea about how they are getting paid. The ones that do know probably resent it. In the 80s and 90s they resented how much of their pay check came from commercials and toy sales. John K is the poster child for this resentment. Modern animators still hate how much of their paycheck comes from merch sales. Honestly, American animators kind of hate to exist. They hate capitalism. They wish money came from the ether. They wish that nothing had to be sold to get funding for their show. They wish they could make whatever show they so desired and you'd just eat it up and they would get paid. The japanese seem to be more comfortable with the idea of capitalism and the shows they make actually have to sell something for them to all get paid.

Yeah it’s just the schizo ramblings of someone who never cut the mustard in animation but still daydreams of making his own show.

Western animators tend to be attention seeking homosexuals who use their cartoons as a soap box while insulting people they don't like.
Japanese manga artists can be very vindictive and sabotage their entire comics just to spite the fans they've cultivated or their publisher. Things like that romcom with a gyaru about cleaning up trash ends with her being gang raped to spite everyone since the series got axed.

It's basically all autistic people that can't grasp that the creators are in it for the fun and not to be a ultimate perfectionist. Also that we have a huge problem with backseating.

    >Normies with jobs making fun of autists who would objectively have been better creatives then they but who got normied out of the workforce and had to settle for being autistic about other people's half-assed creative work.
Same as it ever was. The normie cannot contend with a confident autist; he knows this, and it vexes him so. He beats the autist low, in his self-loathing.

yep. Their hate for anime would continue even to adult swim. I remember when they purposely trolled the premiere of big o season 2 just because of how salty they were at anime.
