The time is upon as brothers. The 45 year wait is over.

>Lewis repeatedly insisted that The Day the Clown Cried would never be released, but later donated an incomplete copy of the film to the Library of Congress in 2015 under the stipulation that it was not to be made available before June 2024

His love of cinema overwhelmed him and in his fervor, he simply felt he had to post this clip to explain the exaltation.

He actually is pretty funny in his own way, I can watch a 5 minute clip here and there, but not a whole movie.

I remember my dad talking about this movie when I was a kid, and how everyone got really angry at him for belittling or exploiting the holocaust by making a movie about a clown in a concentration camp. But then that was basically the plot of Roberto Benigni's 1996 movie Life is Beautiful, which was a box office smash and a critical darling that won a ton of awards including the best foreign film and best actor oscars, the grand prix and Cannes, best foreign film Cesar, and practically swept the Davids.

Yeah right. Queue ~12 months of no news, then announcement that Criterion is interested, then 12 more months of no news, then an announcement that they have dropped plans for it and the Library of Congress has no plans to make it public

They don't even have it, you stupid fricking moron.

        >However, a representative for the Library of Congress confirmed to IndieWire that no public screenings are planned, as the archive does not possess a complete cut of the film. The footage donated by Lewis contains several unedited scenes from the film and several sound reels (which may or may not align with the film footage), and those portions will be made available to scholars for research later this year. But anyone hoping to watch the infamous film in its entirety will have to manage their expectations.
