The true ending to Samurai Jack is a video game.

The "true ending" is the last scene of the show, not a cutscene from some spin-off video-game.

I don't give a shit if he gives a thumbs-up to spin-off media that makes him money. Samurai Jack is a show, he made the show, he didn't plan to go beyond the show, Samurai Jack ends with the show.

Samurai Jack is an IP that stretches multiple mediums.
The video game has Samurai Jack in it. It's canon, no matter how butthurt anonymous purists on random social media sites are.

It contradicts the ending of the show, how can it be canon? Even if you come up with some explanation about the collectibles creating an alternate timeline or something, who gives a shit about canon? Are you unable to enjoy the original Star Wars trilogy as it was intended because the later shitty additions are "canon"?

Don't care, the ending was shit and I am glad there is a canon ending in a canon game that overwrites that shit

It did feel kinda rushed, like someone at the drinking table was like "Durr but if Aku is gone wouldn't Aishi disappear?" and everyone was like "FCUK YOU RIGHT" and they hastily made her poof. But they wanted a happy ending for Jack, not a good ending.

The base idea isn't bad. They fumbled the execution by not having the episode long enought, like having the Scott man and the other friends agreeing to a saddened jack that there was no other way... Eventually having them sharing one last scene while aku is disappearing in the future.

Indeed it would 've be quite easy to fix with just some more runtime.

Ending is shit and makes no sense, it even contradicts the fricking show itself because Jack literally turned down free time portals before because it would mean sacrificing innocents. I guess it doesn't matter anymore in the final season?

The comic solved Samurai Jack's dilemma years before the show by having Jack choose to stay in the future and fight and defeat Aku there with the allies he gathered.

Frick you Genndy, this was quite literally the most disappointing sequel I have ever seen, and believe me when I say I've seen some turds.

How exactly do you write a happy ending in a show whose entire premise is "change the future", but along the way, you made friends with a bunch of future people who only exist because of said threat?

You stop the big evil, they all disappear and it's still kind of sad. You make it so he only stops one possibility of Aku's reign and there are multiple timelines, it's sad because there are hundreds of timelines where Aku is torturing people.

What should have happened was Jack realizing that he would NEVER be able to go back and fix the past and to just try to save the future

Make it clear that his failure to recognize Aku's time portal weighs on him but also that he accepts there's nothing that can be done now

I rewatched some of the episodes from previous seasons (1-4) and I think they should have finished the show back then. It would have been more fitting. But years later storytelling took such a nosedive that we got some jackslop.

I will never stop wondering what it would be like if they finished it back then.

there was no reason for a 50 year time skip. the only way to fix that would be if ashi was 50 years old too. also, how many times has genndy done her character type? Ilana from SB and Emma from UWE were of the same ilk

I know it's generally frowned upon to suggest this but Genndy just isn't good at story driven shows and should really stick to episodic comedies.
