Breaking Bad isn't that good because it was half in this hyper reality GTA-light crime world (which is when it was at its best) and half in on this boring family mundane drama that no one gives a shit about and is only there to affect a 'so ebin deep and emotional!' facade. With the give of hindsight, Walter White should have accepted he's doing it all for himself at the end of s1 and then immediately became estranged from his family or have started out the show as a man estranged from his family due to his own ego bullshit. After he kills Gus, devote a whole season to him becoming a proper Kingpin before it all comes crashing down
